Only once is how often you should go here. Just remember we are talking about a place that is run by the same group that runs Jims. In fact I think the food is the same as Jims,...

Don't waste your money! 12/20/2011

Went down to the Cafe at the Tower yesterday with a friend, purchased 2 coffees and 1/4lb of candy. As soon as we stepped outside to consume what we had just purchased, the manager on duty had everyone present (including, but not limited to my friend and myself) escorted off the property and cited with criminal trespassing. One woman (neither me nor my friend) refused to leave and was arrested. more

Rediculously Overpriced 8/10/2006

I went to lunch with my 6 year old 2 days ago. No lunch menu available, the kids chicken tenders with fries was $12.99 plus $1.95 for a kid drink, I got the ""special"" which was not on th menu and was SHOCKED when I saw the bill. $30.99 for a piece of fish on some rice. Most of the enrees were $24-26 so I ASSUMED the special would be comparable. With $4.95 for iced tea and $6 for parking and tip it cost me $70 for lunch with my 6 yr old. I'm so mad I wrote a letter to the manager. Pros: View Cons: parking, prices more

Not as good as expected 3/8/2005

I was surprised to see such a limited menu with one meat, fish, chicken, porkchop item, except for a steak or prime rib choice. The prime rib was OK, but just warm and the roasted potatoes were crunchy(undone), so I asked for mashed. The service was adequate but the waiter looked like he would rather have been somewhere else. For the prices charged, I was surprised that there was no dress code. Next time I think we'll just go to the observation tower and then get a steak somewhere else. Pros: bread was great, view was nice Cons: hole in my napkin more

Below Average Food for Lunch 8/6/2004

We loved the food and service at Silo where chef Mark Bliss hung his hat for many years. We just tried the Tower for lunch and I have to say it's not on par. I had tortilla soup served lukewarm that tasted like tomato sauce and chopped onions. The croutons in the caesar salad weren't crisp either. My daughter had cheese pizza. The crust was bland and not crisp and the cheese barely covered the sauce. And paying $7 to park on top of that was hard to swallow. Pros: View, Gracious hostesses Cons: , Below Average Food, Crowded for lunch more

worth visiting 2/17/2004

I have lived in San Antonio my whole, and I still love going to the Tower of the Americas. Yes there is a charge to go up the tower, but it is inexpensive for a family of 4. Yes it could be pricey if you are taking a large group, but the sight is beautiful, and my kids love being so high in the sky where the whole city can be seen. Pros: inexpensive more

Only Once 1/16/2003

Only once is how often you should go here. Just remember we are talking about a place that is run by the same group that runs Jims. In fact I think the food is the same as Jims, only more expensive. Oh, and don't take to long in the restroom, you may have trouble finding your table when you get out. more

BIG VIEW,BIGPRICES 12/24/2002

THIS EATERY USED TO BE GREAT,BUT NOW ABOUT THE ONLY THING IS THE VIEW. PRICES ARE HIGH, FOOD QUANTITIES ARE SMALL AND SERVICE TERRIBLE Pros: VIEW Cons: PRICES, PORTIONS more

Overrated Jim's 11/14/2002

It's Jim's after all people...The food is mediocre at best, and not worth the price. Service staff could use some training as well. Any critic will give rave reviews to a free meal. more

A trip up the tower is free??? 9/18/2002

Last time I brought out of town guests to the Tower of the Americas, it set me back a pretty penny for the whole group. This is not a free site, though the view at sunset is well worth the money spent! more

Great views, good food 8/8/2002

I went to this place for lunch and I was very satisfied with everything including the prices. I recommend coming here for lunch to avoid the crowds, and the high dinner prices. Besides the view is better during the day anyway. Try the chicken fried steak. more

Surprised By Quality! 7/2/2002

I was skeptical of this place but since it was my birthday and I wasn't paying, I figured, ""what the hey!"". Admittedly, I was very surprised at the service and the quality of the food. Prices were reasonable for the type of food offeredfillet mignon was a little cheaper than most exclusive restaurants. Our waitress was really good, she let us pick our spot and she timed her calls perfectly. Quality of food was really good, I had steak and lobster and she had the fillet. If you live in SA you have to try this place at least once. I would suggest going on a night with a full moon. more
