If you are a woman don't bother going to Top Gun. I have been to Top Gun several times to shoot and take classes but always with my husband or a group that included men...I was raised with guns and just recently got my husband interested in shooting. I went to buy some ammo and a gift card and learned that the Top Gun employees are a bunch of sexist jerks. I will spare you the blow by blow but a few highlights should suffice. First, I waited at the counter while several men who arrived after me were waited on first and several salesmen stood around doing nothing. The first salesman I asked for assistance gave a curt, ""I'll be with you shortly"" and then went promptly off to chit chat with his fellow salesman and seemingly do nothing but visit. When I finally caught another guy's attention he asked in a condescending tone, ""are you sure he has a 40 caliber and not a 9 mm."" Why is he assuming I'm buying for a guy? Or even for another person? I am not sensitive to these things but his tone was outrageous. Second, if I said I wanted 40 caliber range ammo, I want 40 caliber range ammo. Period. Then, when he told me they only sell range ammo to be used immediately, another guy said, ""there is an ammo shortage, sweetie."" Really? Sweetie? I am not your sweetie and even more importantly, I am not an idiot. Anyone who owns a gun -- shockingly, even a woman -- knows what is going on with ammo. Needless to say, I left without ammo or a gift card, only disappointment.
