Great place tons of fun!!! 3/10/2008

I really like Tonic East, my friend had her birthday there and honestly it was awesome. The food was great, and the service couldn't have been better. Attentive and friendly! I recommend this to anyone looking to have a goodtime in a fun NYC bar. Pros: service, food, and drinks more

surprising 10/3/2007

the ""tonic"" logo - i.e., the bar's name strewn across the side of the building - lead me to believe that behind once inside, i'd hear nothing but the ""untz-untz"" pounding of dance music while being approached by mobs of drunk 20-something males. but its worth giving the place a chance. head straight to the rooftop and grab a table close to the railing - a setting where you can enjoy great views of two nyc landmarks (chrysler and empire state buildings), prompt and friendly service, and a relatively enjoyable atmosphere. ...of course, if you prefer being shoulder-to-shoulder while watching madonna's music videos on big screens and listening to pick-up lines, then the first floor will distract you 'till the wee morning hours. either way, don't write the place off just yet. Pros: rooftop Cons: the first two floors more

bar, appetizers and other singles 7/24/2007

Have been here a few times. Draws big singles scene. Very busy bar. Appetizers are amazing and affordably priced. Drinks are well mixed. For dining, the staff does not hover but are around when you need them. more

Good Sports bar 6/24/2007

Good place to watch any sporting event. Solid staff and decent prices. It is more fun if you go with a group. Pros: TVs. staff. location Cons: can get crowded more

Overated..pass 5/8/2007

I've been to this place twice, once when it was super crowded and the bartender TOOK MY CHANGE! He didn't give me the option to tip, he was taking everyone's change. Then when I asked for it back he gave me a snotty attitude. more

Great for after work or weekends 5/8/2007

Went there after work with a big group and had a blast on the rooftop deck. There are a lot of tables in the way, but they clear them out of the middle once it gets a litle crowded. If you get there early, you can snag a primo table overlooking the Empire State Bld. and third ave. The only con of the upstairs is that there are no speakers, so you can't hear the game that your viewing on any 3 of the flatscreens that are up there, or listen to any music while you eat/drink. Pros: Food, happy hour prices, atmosphere, quality and quantity of tv's Cons: no speakers upstairs, only waitress service on rooftop more

Great Service- Lindy Rocks! 5/7/2007

Went to this bar for the fight Saturday night and it was crazy busy!!! Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut considering how busy it was our server Lindy was amazing. She fought through the crowd and was SUPER attentive!!! She even chatted and joked around with us, which made the drinking expiernce soooo much better! We all said would be back to see her busy night or not! Oh and we cant forget the good food, mac and cheese and tots!!! more

good vibe, music is eh 4/5/2007

I really like the three tier bar in tonic east. For some reason the bottom floor is too packed but the third floor, with the view, is really cool and chill. The drinks were reasonable and the bartenders were attentive and quick. But the music...Ricky Martin? and La Bouche? I mean, I like throwbacks but c'mon. Maybe it was an off night but on a friday night I expected better. I'll plan on going back for all the other reasons but hoping for better music. Pros: fast bartenders, three floors of space Cons: crappy 90s music more

upstairs bar is great 3/20/2007

went there for st. paddys around midnight as one of our stops on a pub crawl. We were going to leave because downstairs was packed and there was no place to sit. But my friend had to use the bathroom so we went upstairs since there was too many people to go down. The moment we got up there 2 of the bartenders asked me what I wanted. So I ordered a drink since I was waiting anyway. We ended up staying for over 2 hours. Turned out to be really fun. Even the staff dances and has fun. I dont know if I would go back since its a little too young for me but it was a great stop on St. Paddys, maybe to watch a game or something. The only complaint was the prices. I get 8 dollars for a kettle and tonic but a bud draft is like 7 bucks and thats just a rip off. Even so, its worth checking out once. Pros: good service, fun music Cons: expensive draughts, too crowded downstairs more

Great Time! 3/7/2007

I celebrated my birthday at Tonic and I had a blast. A whole bunch of my buddies and I came in and I was given a free bottle of champagne since it was my birthday. How sweet is that? The place had cool music so what could be better? Having sports on the screens, drinking with my buds, hangin with some cute girls, cheap shots...happy birthday to me! People should definitely check this place out...good place to celebrate a birthday for sure! more

Keep your coat 2/16/2007

This is the first time I've been compelled to write a review. Tonic was packed, played decent music (albeit on repeat--about a six song cycle). But nothing could infuriate me more than retrieving my coat from the coat check (for which I paid) only to find it covered in dirt. Not just a small spot or stain. My coat looked like someone had thrown it in a dumpster, only to retrieve it a week later. I don't understand--they hang the coats in the stairwell between the second and third floor. How does this hapen? This really wasn't my scene, but the added insult of having my coat ruined will keep me away. And before you ask, I was exceedingly polite to the staff and tipped them all. Maybe management could see to it they have a clean place to store their customers' things? Pros: Loud Cons: Loud, awful coat check more

Best place to watch sports! 2/14/2007

This is the first place I go to when I watch a game. There are so many TV's and screens...you can also watch many different games at once. This is the place to go if you want to just sit around watching sports, enjoy some beers and eat some pub food. The wings and burgers are really good. The best part was the mini-kegs! It's really convenient to have rather than constantly ordering beers. Our waitress would re-fill the keg and we would just keep refilling our pints. more

FUN TIMES! Great Happy Hour! 2/14/2007

I went to Tonic after work with a bunch of my colleagues. Tonic has great drink specials! The staff was really friendly...great to chat with and always ready to serve my next drink. The bartender made me the best apple martini! Great place to go after work and we would definitely go there again! Pros: Drink Specials, Friendly Staff more

Great Music, No Cover 11/20/2006

The DJ was great (although I don't think there was a need for his own personal body guard) with coordinating music videos. He played old school hits and today's top ten. The place was crowded but not ridiculous. There was a VIP area but I truly don't believe anyone VIP-worthy was up there. Pros: Cool atmosphere Cons: Warm bottled beer and one-stall ladies room more
