This store is OK. The employees can be rude, but that reflects the ownership more than anything (maybe making min wage isn't the most motivating?) We relocated here from Oregon about a year and a half ago. Moved to S. Austin and found Tomlinsons because they carry the Solid Gold food that we use for our pointers. We like the fact that this store is locally owned and not a big box chain. OK, so the staff does not run over and help you every second that you are in the store. But if you ask someone about a product, they seem knowledgeable about most anything that they sell. We paid the $5 for the pet card so that we could get 10% off on our food for a year--with 2 big dogs, it saves you quit a bit !! Pros: Nearby-saves on gas ! Good selection of top-quality pet foods. Always help you out to the car with your food ! Cons: Parking can get crazy around lunch hour. Need a faster credit card machine. more

I go to Tomlinson's because they carry the dog food I have my dogs on, California Natural. They are a great resource for organic and natural dog foods. Yeah, the employees are not super friendly and will not go out of their way to help you, but I don't really care much about that. The prices are reasonable and the selection is good. I recommend them. Pros: Ample parking, competitive prices, organic dog food not found in large chains, lots of toys for pets Cons: not a huge selection, but ample enough. friendliness does lack a bit if you care about that more

I get my puppy and kitten food there, Also I work with animals and many clients love their stuff!\r I am a huge fan of Wellness Products, and it seems that they have just about all the Wellness you can get! \r Their food prices are cheaper than Bark N Purr and Petsmart, also if you have a petclub which is like $5 for a year you get 10% off all of their food products!\r I love all the neat toys, accesories and other products they carry for your pets and they have good cleaning products, I love the Nature's Miracle stuff it works great.\r The only thing I didn't like too much is that some of the people who work there don't always greet you and they seem like they don't enjoy thier job, I know I would if I worked there and they are almost always playing on the computer...Also one of them acknowlegded the fact that their supervisor specifically put in surveilance cameras so the employees would stop stealing from the store. I think they may need new employees which they have gotten a couple new ones, and I think it's an improvement. I have no idea what the previous reviewer is talking about. I've been going to this Tomlinsons for years and they've always been great - esp Ed, the manager. \r I'd recommend shopping there in a heartbeat - I'm also a big fan of their petclub thing (it's similar to PetCo's PALS, except you get discounts on every food all the time, not just selected foods) Pros: Customer Service, discounts Cons: nothing comes to mind more

I would not recommend the Tomlinson's on South Lamar. The customer service is appalling. Do not expect to be greeted or acknowledged by the employees. more
