Best

Wonderful service - the food is THE BEST! The freshest I have ever eaten - except on the boat immediately after a catch! :) Pros: Great location, good prices, friendly staff...

Worst

This is the worst Japanese restaurant I have ever been to The food is substandard quality, the sushi isnt fresh and all of us got sick. The portions are very small, the price...

Very poor! We are local and have been going here for over 10+ years. Over the past 3 years we have seen a steady decline in service and food. Tonight's take out will be the last. They forgot to put in 2 rolls, portions were small, salad was pathetic, and sushi quality was poor. I guess they are relying on the tourist to keep them open as they leave town the next day. Not recommended!! more

I will start out by saying first and foremost that the service was really impressive. They were on the verge of closing down, but was told to sit regardless and that they would serve still. Iced tea was super fresh and tasted like real good tea should. My only gripe is that I wished my sushi roll was a little big bigger than what I received. I had the spicy octopus roll and it was fresh and the tab was super cheap. This place is a steal if you're in the Ft. Lauderdale area! My waitress even went out of her way to warn me that a larger octopus roll would be "very pricy". She didn't have to do that! Great place, I will definitely be back! more

Great sushi, great price! 1/22/2012

Food is always fresh, I have been coming here for over 5 years. Portions are great and the prices are better than most sushi places. more

I always enjoy the sushi here, however, the place is a little steril. more

Freshest fish; creative, delicious sushi rolls, beautifully presented; incredibly reasonable prices; generous portions; ample free parking.\r \r So who cares if the decor is plain or the servers are sometimes only okay? I have always enjoyed every meal at Tokyo Sushi. It is my first choice in Broward County for sushi. I take all my out-of-town guests here.\r \r Try the Chuka Ika appetizer and the Mexican 2 Roll. You'll be back! more

the sushi items were excellent, however the soy was exceptionally bitter. I've tried the sushi dinner w/o ginger, soy, and plain, and my impression was the soy (whether light or regular) ruined the taste.. The staff was polite and somewhat interested but since this was close to 10 pm when the shift was "over" the interested was equally diminished. This is truly mismatch between excellent seafood itself and what I think is service paying attention to small but key articles of food service. more

This place is GREAT!!!...The other night I took three of my girls here...and wow did we have a good time...we had mad Saki bombs...along with sushi that was jumping off the plate...this fish was so raw it wanted to join the party...the california rolls, the mexican roll and the robbie roll were amazing...the hibachi was excellent as well....had some teriyaki steak, very good cooked to perfection…the service was good, excelt a little slow simple cause they were busy...this place is a must if you're on 17th Street more

This place is always busy, so you know thats a good sign. Their food is yummy. Service is fast and waitress' are friendly. I've never had an issue with the food/service. more

There' great food here! 3/27/2010

I've read some of the reviews of this restaurant which are untrue. I've been eating at Tokyo Sushi for eight years now. I've had their version of the volcano roll and it was pretty good. On their volcano roll comes with an EIGHT piece California roll with a cooked scallop mixture on top, and not salmon. What kind of person can't tell the difference between scallop and salmon? And every restaurant has their OWN version of rolls!! Also if a whole table got sick from the sushi there, I don't know why the whole restaurant didn't get sick and there was no investigation of the quality of the food?? Tokyo Sushi cannot be compaired to Nobu. Nobu is a fine dinning restaurant with a much more expensive menu. If you do decide to try out thi s restaurant you have to try the Lobster roll, Play Dragon roll(if you like eel), and the Robbie roll. These are a few of my favorites! Pros: fair prices and decent size portions more

Food was OK, but the service was awful. Our waitress had a bad attitude and kept slamming items down on our table. She acted pained whenever we would order additional items. When tipped 10% as a result, she appeared to curse us in her native tongue! more

Great food at an even better price! A real find in an area of town geared toward out of towners... 4 starst!!!!! more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 9/25/2009

Price is comparable to other Japanese/ Sushi restaurants but the portions do NOT compare. The size of each roll piece is often times th size of the fish within the rolls of other restaurants. Not worth it!!! more

We love this place! We have been eating here a few times a month for the past few years. The sushi and sashimi are excellent along with all of the other items on the menu. The service is fast & the staff is friendly. more

Horrible Place 3/16/2009

This is the worst Japanese restaurant I have ever been to The food is substandard quality, the sushi isnt fresh and all of us got sick. The portions are very small, the prices are very high and the food is awful The sushi is horrible. The teriyaki chicken was terrible. The service was the worst. the place is uncomfortable and the management doesnt care that we got sick . we contacted the restaurant and told them how ill we got from the sushi and they basically dismissed us. Food bourne illness is a very serious thing and they didnt take it very seriously. Stay away from this establishment. Its quite scary Cons: many ( a plethora) more

BEST SUSHI IN FLORIDA 11/24/2008

Wonderful service - the food is THE BEST! The freshest I have ever eaten - except on the boat immediately after a catch! :) Pros: Great location, good prices, friendly staff and excellent service Cons: Not enough private rooms more

Good sushi! 10/17/2007

I'm no expert on sushi by any means, but this place is very close to my house and the few times I've been there have been great. The rolls are large and reasonably priced, and the appetizers have always been good too. The service isn't outstanding, but definitly worth it for the price of the food. They also serve beer and saki which is a must. I would definitly recommend this place to others. Pros: friendly people, reasonable prices. Cons: small, somewhat noisy more

YUCK! And I'm not a Nobu snob! 11/11/2002

Chewy seaweed = nasty! My rolls were disgusting, the service was, well, non-existant, and the atmosphere is ""can we fit another table in this room....I do not think so!"" Bad move. I love Nobu, I've eaten at them in London and NYC, I don't expect that kind of excellence anywhere else, but really...chewy seaweed??? Buh-bye... Pros: close distance Cons: everything else more
