In truth, I did not see Dr. Diane Todd but a nice young female optometrist filling in for her. She was friendly helpful, and capable and did a good exam; I bought two pairs of glasses, one for distance and one for the computer. The distance glasses are okay but the others might have been calibrated a little better. It's unfortunate that Dr. Todd is ""owned"" by an optician and that I did not have my Medicare card with me that day. Friend Optician told me that giving him the number would do no good and that he would not reimburse me if I brought it in later. When I called him the next day, he changed his mind -- ""Bring in proof; I'll pay you back."" Overall, I felt the price of the glasses was high, compared with prices at other walk-in optometrists of this type. I used them because we are vacationing in Orleans and there was no other place nearby. \r
I am distressed with the whole state of optometry in Massachusetts and I wish that a journalist would do a spotlight review on them. The optometrists and opticians of Massachusetts insist upon eye exams every one to two years -- that's for EVERYONE, of whatever age -- or they refuse to sell eyeglasses. Eye exams and their frequency are for patient and doctor to determine, not quasi-doctor, such as optometrist. This is as much as I can tell you about Dr. Todd, as she was out, having just given birth the day before. Congratulations! I don't like the man she works for -- or with -- but if she's anything like the woman who filled in, I certainly think that I would like her.
Pros: The optometrist was friendly and capable.
Cons: The manners of the man who OWNED the office left much to be desired. High cost for frames & lenses.
