My wife and I ate there for the first time last Monday. The food was fantastic, the service was top notch. We liked the five course setup of the meal. Highly recommended.

Very nice view, unfortunately that?s all I can say about this restaurant. I did not like anything about the food. i didnt feel like there was much to chose from first, and esp. if your not a sea food eater. i was not a fan of the decor, but i did enjoy our cocktails. more

Best Black Forest Steak and Lobster with a GREAT view 10/25/2007

My wife and I celebrate our birthday's every year at the Tin Angel. We are greeted very graciously by Nicky and shown to our table by a window. The wait staff is very friendly and knowledgable and the food is out of this world. We have been to many, many Pittsburgh restaurants over the years, but we always look forward to going back to the Tin Angel. It is a ""Special Place"" to celebrate our birthdays and we are always happy to see Nicky again. Pros: The Hostess and her staff, the delicious food by a great Chef and the view Cons: In my opinion, there are none more

Frightening 5/15/2007

Don't waste your time or money! Everything in on the menu was stuffed with crab (and some things just shouldn't be) and drenched in a ridiculously heavy cream sauce (I'm quite sure that was to hide the meat). The service left a lot to be desired as did everything else in the restaurant, from the menu to the decor - even the music was terrible... they actually had the radio playing so during your dinner you were listening to commercials. Very tacky! Pros: The view was nice Cons: Everything else. more

excellent 2/18/2006

we recently dined at the tin angel and loved it. expensive yes, but good restaurants are expensive these days! we had steak and seafood and overall everything was to perfection. perhaps some of the other diners should have tried McDONALDS...! Pros: beef, seafood Cons: veggie boat more

User review by jayemar 2/10/2006

Me and my girlfriend went here last evening. We first got the soup which was very good as good as wedding soup can be. Next we had the veggie boat which both of us found to be unappealing, a fancy way to display a bunch of picked veggies, the clam dip might as well have been condensed clam chowder, very thick and gauche to eat. The entrées were very good minus the wine sauce that came with the filet medallions, it wasn't simmered enough to cook out the alcohol, quite overpowering. Tea and dessert was delightful however as well as the mint pineapple at the end, very nice touch. Over all it was i nice experience but i would consider one of the other establishments on grandview before going here again. Pros: View, Service Cons: Overpriced more

Great Experience, Great bar 2/28/2005

My girlfriend and I dined at the Tin Angel recently, and we both found it to be an excellent experience. The food was well worth the price. We both had steaks and the temps were perfect, and they were seasoned just right! Best steaks we have ever had. And whoever said that the seafood bisque tasted like Campbell's tomato soup was just plain wrong, it was excellent. The view is perfect, the service is perfect, you cant lose here! Pros: View, Taste Cons: Parking more

Not worth the cost 2/12/2005

Based on reviews online and a few from friends, I had high expectations before coming to Tin Angel. However, I was quite disappointed. The meal started off with Wedding Soup (nothing special) or a fruit cup (just some melons and pineapple). Next was their 'signature' vegetable boat which was a conglomerate of marinated vegetables and some cheese and salami all which could have been bought at the local Giant Eagle. The main course was the only part of this meal that was actually above average (I had filet mignon). The desserts however, were similar to those you'd get at a TGIFridays cheesecake with canned strawberries, vanilla ice cream or a simple parfait. This restaurant was nothing special and was extremely overpriced. The view was amazing, the service was alright and the food was not even close to what one would expect from a restaurant that charges $50-60 a head. Pros: View Cons: Expensive, Average Food more

Great food with wonderful city views 7/6/2004

4 July 04: We had an excellent meal at Tin Angel. Our reservations were for 8pm, but we arrived around 6:30pm as we were told our table was ours for the night and we could arrive anytime after 5pm. Our meal began with a delicious Italian wedding soup, then their signature vegetable boat. I had the filet mignon with two lobster tails (absolutely tender, cooked perfectly. Tony had the Delmonico steak w/mushrooms. Both were served with rice pilaf or baked potato; baked tomato topped with parmesan cheese. I had their cheesecake with strawberries; Tony enjoyed French vanilla ice cream topped with apricot brandy. Our meal and 2 rounds of cocktails and a glass of wine) came to $150. For the quality of the food, the great service, and a great view of the city and fireworks, it was well worth it. We would return there again for a special occasion. Pros: food, service, choice in entrees more

nearly perfect... 12/29/2002

everything was simply wonderful; lobster was sweet and succulent, filet stuffed with cherries nearly melted in your mouth... of course the view is a given Pros: superb food, amazing view Cons: no valet parking, mediocre vege. of day more

Don't Bother 10/28/2002

We ate at the Tin Angel at the recommendation of a friend. I learned two lessons from this experience...dont eat at the Tin Angel and be careful who you take advice from. The view is very nice IF you can get a table by the window. Service was adequate and very impersonal. We were greated by a server/robot who proceded to try to regurgitate the entire menu without having the luxury of the actual menu. Food was average and the appetizer/salad selection was choice of 2 items and a vegetable boat. Meals were presented on plain white plates with no added pizzaz. The most devistating part of the meal was the check...over priced and undervalued... Pros: view Cons: menu, selection, price more
