Dinner and a MOvie! 1/14/2004

I love this place! i usually dont like making a trip midtown to 42nd street, but when i do i usually opt to make a stop at this cafe, whether im seeing a movie or not. The staff is SO nice and the coffee and desserts are amazing as well. I love the decor... it made me feel as if i was in some european cafe rather than times square. Its also a good spot to chill at for a few drinks if your watching a movie. Pros: great service, great food, good ambience more

Wouldn't Expect It in a Movi Theatre! 1/29/2003

My husband and I went to Times Square Cafe after a movie a couple nights ago and we were so pleased! The food is delicious-totally not what you'd expect from a restaurant in a movie theatre! We had a good and fairly priced bottle of wine while we listened to live music! We were so thankful to find a quality spot in the touristy Times Square and we didn't have to go out into the cold after our movie! Julie and Joe Hartung Pros: food, convenience, live music Cons: not-soft chairs more

Fast and Friendly 1/29/2003

Times Square Cafe is perfect if you're in need of a quick bite. The menu is extensive and includes many italian favorites. Wow: there are at least 50 different desserts, too! The staff is friendly and quick. The vaulted ceiling is beautiful. And there was a jazz singer performing, too! What a great place. Pros: inexpensive, convenient, friendly Cons: hard to park, busy atmosphere more

Dinner & A movie! 1/29/2003

My boyfriend and I discovered the Times Square Cafe this past weekend. One of our friends told us about it..and we decided to go do the ""Dinner & A Movie"" package! What a deal! We had a great dinner....The Chicken Marsala was fabulous...the desserts were to die for! and we made it just in time to go see our movie! I would definitely recommend...even if your not going to see a movie! more

Perfect in a pinch 1/27/2003

My boyfriend and I were starving and really wanted to catch Bowling at Columbine which was to start like 40 minutes from our arrival. We were happy we could avoid times sq food and prices by just going upstairs to Times Sq cafe - we didn't do the dinner and movie (which is a steal) because we didn't realize and bought our tickets b4 dinner. I enjoyed the bruschetta with fresh red tomatoes and the penne and vodka. The chicken marsala was good. THE DESSERTS ARE THE BEST. Our quick server brought our tirimisu and coffee and we made it to our seats before the second preview. Great time - thanks! Pros: Location, Dinner/Movie package more

STAY AWAY 12/30/2002

The best thing about this place is the location. It is located in the old Empire Theatre which has been moved several hundread feet west on 42nd Street from the orginal location. Everytime I have been there they have managed to be out of something. I get the impression they have a difficult time keeping staff because I have never had the same server twice despite having been back several times. Because of this turn over in staff the service is horrible. The staff has for the most part lacked a basic knowledge of the menu. The bar has problems as well. It has also had issues with stock. This is one of the few places I will ever given ones to across the board. The score however is deserved. Cons: Lack of items, poor service, slow service more

I don't think you can get worse 10/14/2002

The service at this place has to be the worst I have ever seen. They were out of almost half the menu and when we finally ordered we waited 45 minutes before they came and told us they were now out of our order and we should order again. Upon complaining to the manager he blamed the waiter and the waiter blamed the manager. I would stay FAR AWAY more

I couldn't wait to leave 10/13/2002

Although we were seated quickly, service was slow. Several items were unavailable despite the early hour (5:30 pm). The kitchen got my order wrong and the waitress never told me, so I was fuming because everyone else at the table had almost finished. When I complained to a staff member, he said there was no reason to ""get in his face,"" though he did get the food out to me. Out of 3 ice- cream flavors, they were out of the one I ordered. Despite the fact that they deducted half the price of my entree and the full price of my ice-cream this was a disappointing experience. Service was so slow, and it took so long to get our check, I felt as though I had escaped by the time I left. Pros: inexpensive, excellent desserts, reasonable selection Cons: unprofessional staff, slow service, ran out of many items more

Waffles....mmmm! 9/25/2002

This place was great for out of town visitors... It has a great people-watching view- especially from the higher level. I went for breakfast- my waffle was enormous, delicious, and $13... so if you go, be hungry! The huge cups of coffee are also delcious, and are available in a wide variety of flavors. Pros: Delicious, Pricey, People-watching more
