There is only one (#1) Michael! 5/1/2009

There is no-one to compare with Michael, the ultimate, skilled professional, he is a master at shaping difficult hair. I haven?t let anyone else touch my hair for more decades than he and I would care to count. Even when I travelled away from the city for some length of time; I just let it grow, I just couldn?t trust anyone else! The care he takes is extraordinary. Thank goodness he doesn?t know what a ?rush? job is: he will fuss until he is satisfied that the work is done to his own satisfaction. I can?t recall the last time I stated a preference for a style but if he has an idea for a change, he asks. Have I ever said no? I haven?t, no need to, he knows what suits me. And, without fail, after each cut I am asked by colleagues and strangers, Who did your hair? A compliment to me and to him! Pros: Consistently great service Cons: Expense but oh so worth it! more

stephen was my stylist and he was polite, very attentive, and knowledgable. anyone who is interest in a fantastic cut will not be disappointed. my soon to be husband was skeptical about me getting my haircut, he loved it! thank you stephen you have a client forever. If you are looking for a great cut and color Louis is the man to see! 3/29/2008

I began getting my hair cut and colored by Louis about 8 years ago. During that time I moved to New York to work for a fashion magazine. I would drive down to Philadelphia every few months to have Louis color my hair. I worked with hair stylist all the time and the one comment they all made was how great my color was...""Who does your color?"" they would ask. Last March I moved out to Los Angeles to work on""So You Think You Can Dance"" and ""American Idol"". Who was going to do my hair!! That was all I could think about! Every month I put it off, my roots got longer and longer! It was time for a trip home... yes that is right I HAD to come home to see Louis because if you want the best cut and color you have to see Louis. When I got back to LA the hair and make up team raved about how great my color was. I am telling you New York and Los Angeles have some great stylist but Philadelphia has the best and his name is Louis.... you shoud give him a call. Pros: no nonsence Cons: it's far from LA more

LOUIS!!!!! Need I say anything more? 3/13/2008

Well, I heard about this genius at thunder for a long time and I thought I would give him a try. I have gone from salon to salon trying to find someone real, without attitude, to tell me what is right for me, and still listening to my request, within minutes, he looked ay my shape face, my coloring, and after listening to me, he suggested some ideas on my haircut and hair color. I left there today with a whole new attitude, and a great cut and color. He is a genius! You'll see. Pros: philadelphia not new york more

Obsessed with Campbell 3/13/2008

A friend of mine, with gorgeous hair, referred me to Campbell years ago. After trying several ""high end"" salons in the city and finding no real love connection, I decided to finally give Campbell a try (better late than never, right?). She's FANTASTIC! She was super friendly and personable but above all knowledgeable. We talked briefly about my hair issues and then she went to work and I honestly could not be happier! I left the salon feeling like a movie star! As long as I'm on the east coast I will be a loyal Campbell client. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Louis at Thunder: An indulgence well worth the cost. 3/13/2008

I've been going to Thunder now for about 6 years, and as long as Louis is there I will never go to another stylist or hair cuttery, be it a barber shop or a salon. As a somewhat ""jocky"" type guy and a stereotypical former fraternity brother, when my parents first told me to go to Thunder and pay for a $60 hair cut, I was somewhat skeptical. The local barber shop charged about $15 for a cut, and in my mind, a haircut was something to be endured then gotten on with. Well, after both my mother and father prevailed upon me to try Louis at Thunder, I became what might be called a salon convert. I'm not quite sure what exactly he does that is so different, but let me tell you this: There is a substanitive difference between a haircut at Thunder, particularly with Louis, and your local barbershop or Mastercuts or even your local fancypants salon. Pros: the staff, the fact that they run on time (how exquisitely rare!) Cons: it is a bit expensive- but worth it more

I've found my niche! 2/4/2008

Abigail has been styling my hair since before she went to cosmetology school and I am proud to report that she has found the perfect fit with Thunder! I always hated my hair, until Abigail got her hands in it! She has taken me from choppy layers and bad orange highlights to a whole new level! Just when I think this girl is out of ideas she busts out and gives undetectable fusion extensions for the beach and takes my sleek bob and transforms it with blocks of color when I get the January blues! She truly an artist and you can see her passion in how much she loves what she does - it's classic, it's modern, it's ever-evolving style. I love you girl! (almost as much as I love my hair!) ~steph. I heard about Thunder from a friend, and although I live at the Jersey Shore, I felt I owed it to myself and my hair to give Thunder a try. My hair has undergone some major trauma in the past few years, and I was really tired of walking out of hair salons feeling like I had the cut and color that my stylist wanted. Stephen was thorough and entertaining and professional and gave me the most beautiful cut and color I have ever had! Thank you Stephen and Thunder Salon----I am one HAPPY CLIENT!!! Michael at Thunder - a style, not just a cut 9/13/2007

I've been going to Thunder for about 10 years - after hopping from one salon to another...trying all the ""hair greats,"" ""hot stylists"" and ""cutting superstars"" who give you a great cut once and then fall back to rest on their laurels rather than their talent. Adam is fantastic 9/9/2007

I've been going to Adam for around 10 years. I now live far out in the suburbs with 2 small kids. It is a pain in the neck to travel into center city but I do it because Adam is worth it. He listens to me (and he knows I'm very particular), and he gives me an excellent haircut every time. He is a wonderful person which makes the headache of the trip worth it. It's truly a treat for me. I always feel like a million bucks when I leave. In fact, everyone there is nice, accommodating and it's not too stuffy. I always recommend him to any friends/ family in the area and everyone I know who's gone to him has been completely satisfied. He's outstanding! I heard about him over the years, but was hard to get an appointment with him, it was worth the wait. He met me with a pleasant hello and when he was finished with his client we had a consultation. We discussed color, in detail e.g. skin tone, and the haircut, face shape. He was very professional and does run on time. I've never been so happy. Thank you philly mag. ps and he is cute! Best hair salon 6/20/2007

I have been a client of Stephen's for more than 10 years, and although I have ""cheated"" on him maybe 3 times through the years, I always return. No one is as talented. His talent transends his styling skills, he has an excellent ""bedside manner"", and makes your time in his chair a therapuetic session. I encourage all my friends, family and acquaintances to try him out. Several have, and all have been more than satisfied. I guess the cost can be pricey compared to suburan/rural areas, but I drive 25 miles each way and find it worth the trip. I DON'T HAVE TO GO TO NEW YORK ANYMORE!!!!!!! 6/7/2007

I lived in NYC, and moved to philadelphia. I would always go back to NYC for my haircuts and haircoloring. I tried pileggi in philly and was not happy. I read about Louis, at thunder hair salon in allure magazine. I just had my hair cut and colored today by Louis and I am so happy to finally find someone in philadelphia that is as good as, or better than my stylist at fredrick fekkai in new york. He does it all, cut and color. He's the man. Thank you Louis! No more traveling and $$$ to NY to get color. My husband is very happy. Pros: no more nyc Cons: no more nyc more
