Brides beware! The Wedding Library is the worst wedding vendor, ever. Terrible service, completely unprofessional, totally unaccountable and unreliable. I have actually never work...

Editorial review from Citysearch 1/31/2014

They have such a great selection of dresses! I searched and searched for the perfect Ivory dresses for my bridesmaids which seems easy. They had four different designers that do Ivory bridesmaids dresses. I ended up going with Monique Lhuillier dresses in long in all different styles. The sales associates were so helpful in clipping the dresses or holding them if they didn't fit. They are going to be beautiful! more

If you are interested in Amsale dresses, they have the full collection! There are so many great styles to choose from. The new color Bellini is gorgeous. The girls here are so helpful - they clip the dresses if they don't fit right, take measurements, and write everything down for you. I even got a swatch! I can't wait to see the dresses in April! more

Wonderful Experience All Around 9/14/2011

I worked with Grace and had the most amazing experience ever. The store has an amazingly great reputation, my salesperson knew everything about the dresses I was interested in. She guided my to great colors and went out of her way to find the perfect swatches for me. Her follow up was great and all of our bridal party -- 9 girls! had a great time in their new salon where everything was spotless, well organized and pretty. And they have the biggest selection I've ever seen and I've been a bridesmaid 5 times! I don't ever write reviews but sometimes you have to support small businesses when it's easy to just write about the negatives. more

Worst wedding vendor ever 4/8/2011

Brides beware! The Wedding Library is the worst wedding vendor, ever. Terrible service, completely unprofessional, totally unaccountable and unreliable. I have actually never worked with such a terrible vendor in my life. I would write up my entire experience that I had with them, but don't even want to waste my time because they're not worth it. Just trust me that you don't want to be counting on this vendor and their staff for your special day. \r \r more

Stay Away! 1/27/2011

I ordered my wedding invitations through them, and what a bad experience. I was promised a plate from my invitations as part of the package that I purchased and never received it. I followed up via phone/email for one and a half years with little response. I finally received a call back from Claudia Hanlin, the founder. When I inquired about the delay in returning my call, she told me that she had a 1,000 person party this weekend and had other calls to attend to. During our conversation, she said that the plate was not part of my order, but was a ""favor"" they were doing for me. When I explained that this was not what was relayed to me, she wouldn't hear it. She didn't apologize until I asked her to - not for the poor communication about what came with the invitations, not for the poor service following my constant follow-up about it, not for neglecting to return my emails/voicemails. They lost or misplaced my plate. She was condescending and rude until I was brought to tears, after which she was only slightly more apologetic. She said she didn't know what happened, but that the employee who was handling my case had left, so there was nothing they could do. She made no offer of remedying the mistake or making up for the year+ I spent chasing them down.\r This is a terrible venue - the larger clients are clearly more valued, and the customer service following an error on their part is embarrassing. \r My recommendation is to find another service for planning such a special day.\r more

Shopper Beware! 1/4/2011

My daughter had purchased an Amsale gown for her wedding and so we decided to find bridesmaid and mother of the bride dresses by the same designer and went to the Wedding Library. \r It was such a disappointing experience! First, while my daughter is in NY, I live out of town, so I made an appointment with one of their saleperson and traveled to NY. When we arrived at our appointed time, we were told that our sales person was too busy to see us! So we waited, waited and waited in the store, while she was upstairs on a phone call. Finally another sales person said she was asked to assist us, but she was already helping other shoppers and basically left us to fend for ourselves. I finally ordered a dress, and paid extra for a rush order that we were told would come in right before Christmas. However, the dress did not arrive before the holiday and the store closed down for a full 9 days so I could not pick up the dress. \r When I finally got it, it was not even the right size! They had screwed up my measurements and the dress is way too big. So I paid a small fortune to have it tailored on a very rush basis. \r What a nightmare - please do yourself a favor and shop somewhere else. These people are terrible.\r \r more

Great Selection and Friendly Staff 7/28/2010

After visiting a bunch of other bridesmaid salons, dealing with strongly opinionated bridesmaids the Wedding Library was a breath of fresh air. We walked in to see a large selection of Amsale dresses (my new favorite designer) as well as a bunch of other designers. I was having a hard time with finding different styles for each body type, that came in the same color and fabric... we found a ton of options here. The sales girl was SO friendly and helpful, she help me put together the perfect lineup for my girls. Sizing was a whole other battle (especially for my more sensitive bms) but it was a lot easier then planned here. Pros: Large selection, friendly staff, comfortable environment Cons: Tight quarters on a busy day more

Love this place! 8/26/2009

I found the Wedding LIbrary because it is the only place where Amsale bridesmaids dresses are carried and they have the color I wanted. This was our 4th bridesmaid appointment of the day so we were so pleased that we found what we wanted finally. We finished so quickly that we had a couple of minutes to look around and I ended up spending another hour and a half there and didn't want to leave! I'm doing everything through them - it's just so much easier and I love the atmosphere. Any bride getting married in NYC should check this place out. Pros: Great atmosphere Cons: Expensive but totally worth it more

What a great experience! 7/28/2009

I had to write about my experience at The Wedding Library. It was so lovely. I knew getting married would be full of details and chaos but going here made the planning what it should be...enjoyable! The girls that helped me pick out the bridesmaids dresses were thorough, knowledgeable, and patient. When I was finished with the dresses the sweetest gal helped me with the purchase of the ""bridesmaids survival kit"" for the day of the wedding as well as a jewelry box that I was so desperately in need of for the honeymoon. The ideas they had for favors were amazing and so different from what I found elsewhere. On top of it I was able to order thank you notes that I had totally forgotten to consider. I had such a nice day and came away feeling much more prepared and relaxed about the big day! Kudos to The Wedding Library! Pros: One stop shopping! more

Finally some normal bridesmaid dresses! 6/18/2009

After having a god awful experience at Vera Wang (they were so mean and unhelpful and their dresses were ugly) I went around the corner to the Wedding Library. I never heard of it but it was amazing. I am getting married in October and needed bridesmaid dresses that I wouldn't feel embarrassed asking my girls to wear. The saleswoman (I can't remember her name) actually sat me down to get a feel of what I was looking for and pulled out just what I wanted. I was so not looking forward to bridesmaid dress shopping but they made this so painless. Pros: Great style selection Cons: On the upper east side - I'm a downtowner more

DO NOT GO HERE...THE WORST SERVICE AND MOST UNPROFESSIONAL 4/25/2009

After minor confusion and an easy solution to a bridesmaid dress dilemma, the staff at the Wedding Library proved themselves to be utterly unprofessional and completely lacking in customer service. The owner/manager actually pointed blame on me and my tailor for a $400 dress that came in an obviously mismarked size. From start to finnish, the entire experience with the Wedding Library was a disaster. You pay top dollar for a dress and get zero in customer service. I would not recommend this place to anyone...after they charge your card, they are done with helping you. Cons: service, staff more

Great service 8/22/2008

I went in for bridesmaid dresses and the employee was very helpful. She was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all questions. Great products, great service! I am even going back there for my invitations and I may even use them to plan my wedding Pros: ambience and an experienced staff Cons: $$$ more

All around Great! 7/29/2008

I was very impressed by The Wedding Library. I went in for bridesmaid dresses and the employee was very very helpful. She was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all questions. They had a wide selection of dresses, available in a wide range of colors and fabrics. They were very accommodating when it came to the fact that I had 10 ladies in my bridal party.. scattered all around the country! \r \r Great products, great service! Pros: Open late, knowledgeable and friendly staff Cons: too many choices more

The Worst Place Ever - 7/14/2008

I was so excited to come here after I got engaged. I met the owners, Jennifer and Claudia and they were horrible - just rude - and not at all helpful. The prices of their services were not worth it - the dresses could be bought elsewhere much cheaper. The owners were rude to their employees in front of myself and other potential clients. Stay away - your wedding day should not start on a negative note working with the Wedding Library. Pros: open late Cons: rude owners, high prices more

Good store ruined by salespeople 6/29/2008

Went there for five bridesmaid dresses. Good selection of dresses from a couple vendors and really pretty space with lots of fitting rooms, but ruined by the service. Three different employees we dealt with were saccharine-sweet until they figured out we were going to order there, then became b****y, totally inflexible (originally was ok if bridesmaids who couldn't get measured just ordered based on their own measurements, then we were told they had to go to a tailor) and borderline incompetent (asked each bridesmaid at least twice, some four times, for their measurements or credit card info, and hold times were over 15 minutes while we heard the salesperson chatting with another salesperson in the background). more

HORRIBLE! 2/28/2008

Do not go here! I'm a size 6- they sent me 18!!! Then resent me a 10 and agreed to pay for alterations and NEVER did! Cons: terrible service- they lie more

Above and Beyond 2/23/2008

When I found out my daughter was getting married, I was thrilled. Being the Mother of the Bride, finding a suitable and comfortable dress was my top priority. I came into the Wedding Library and found the most perfect dress and was able to order just in time for the wedding!! When it came closer to the wedding, I found out that my dress was lost by the shipping company en route to the Wedding Library and was unable to be recovered for several days. Throughout the holidays, the Wedding Library staff went above and beyond to find my dress or locate a new one for me... Luckily the package was found just in time for my daughter's wedding, and we were so thankful for their help in making the day so memorable. Pros: Staff was friendly, patient and helpful Cons: Twelve weeks for dresses to be made more

Aggravation Central 2/19/2008

I can't believe this place has remained open for more than a couple of months! The level of service is hideous--my maid of honor did not receive a response or acknowledgement when her dress showed up late after paying for rush fees. Her calls and emails went unanswered. My other bridesmaid's dress showed up without straps, and getting them to her (so she would have to sew on herself) took an act of congress. Management is completely unresponsive and what little response they do give is condescending, belittling, and in short, a joke. I can understand why the workers on the floor act the way they do when the managers and owners just look the other way, or implicitly support their indifferent and honestly, incompetent behavior. I took the time to email to the owner a very long laundry list of all the issues we'd faced, and she blew me off in the worst way possible, saying that she would get back to me the next day. She never did. \r If I were Saks Fifth Avenue, I would think twice about ruining your good name with this vendor. No one, not even management, is invested in a reputation, or at the very least, making life a little easier for the bride. \r This place is about as heartless as they come. Pros: They carried the vendor I wanted Cons: Going through the vendor directly would have been easier; think, complete incompetence and indifference more

Do not use this service 1/16/2008

The Wedding Library is affiliated with Saks, but the service and attention to detail is pitifully poor. Multiple problems with our bridesmaid dress orders due to sloppiness. Completely unconcerned with fixing the problem or in making the customer feel valued. Hard to reach; they do not call you back. Staff is negiligent and combative. There is no point in using this service. All they do is take a little off the top and then let you twist in the wind. It would have been much quicker and easier (and cheaper) to contact the vendors directly. Don't pay any attention to the later post saying this is a wonderful service. It is obviously written by the store itself (how would a commentator know with such authority that a dress takes 12 weeks to arrive? Nice try). This company is nervous about bad press. Check with the state for outstanding complaints before using this service. Pros: It feels like you've taken care of every detail in one shot. Cons: In the end, you've just thrown money away and have new nightmares. more

Wonderful Resource 3/26/2007

I have used The Wedding Library many times to order personal stationery, wedding party gifts and bridesmaids dresses. I love their selection and always have found what I needed. I have always enjoyed working with the staff there and also appreciate when they give me unbiased advice and let me stay for hours pouring over their books and vendors. Two thumbs up!! more
