NOT KID FRIENDLY - BEWARE 8/12/2011

This is a nice place. I enjoyed eating there on several occasions pre-baby. The set up (large open to the outside dinner area), the price point, and the fact that they had a Groupon, made it difficult to tell if this is a kid friendly kind of place. It's so hard to tell anymore what restaurants will not accommodate children. Please, spare yourself a VERY uncomfortable dinner and DO NOT bring your kid here. They will treat you like garbage - even if your kid is well behaved. The pink haired hostess treated us with open contempt as soon as we walked thought the door. We should have left... should have, but didn't. Spare yourself! more

Awesome Experience! 5/26/2008

I recently had a party at the South Side. I rented out the enclosed patio. The party was for 35 people and and went off without a hitch. I was able to use the 50 inch plasma TV for a presentation and since it was in the enclosed patio it was the right amount of privacy. The food was good, presented well and served timely. We choose from a list of various entrees including: chicken piccata, ny strip steak and red snapper. All delicious! The wine, beer and drink list were better than expected. All my guests were happy and we had a great time! I would defintely recommend the South Side for a party or a night out on the town. Pros: Service, Food, Value Cons: Parking more

ready for KITCHEN NIGHTMARES on TV 1/19/2008

Let me preface this review with the fact that I contacted the restaurant regarding my dining experience via their website and as of today Saturday January 19th there has been no response.\r \r So, Sunday evening January 6th, I decided that to treat myself to a meal in the Tremont area. I caught a glimpse of the place in the PD and thought it might be worth checking out. The atmosphere blends in extremely well with the Tremont bar and dining scene. The lighting and music was right and they have a side enclosed patio dining area with a fire place. Sunday night not the place was not busy, I had the whole enclosed patio to myself. I kicked back ordered a black and gold along with a featured dinner the roasted red snapper with garlic spinach and risotto.\r \r Outside of the cheeriness of the hostess, the waitress was basically a droid, lacking personality and any concern over my dining experience. I was hoping that the meal would offset that lethargic service by the waitress, but unfortunately that was not the case. The red snapper and spinach were fine, but the meal was ruined by a extremely greasy risotto, typical of risotto that has sat and is not freshly made. \r \r So given the reputation of the Tremont are for good food and drinks, this establishment might as well close down the kitchen and just focus on keeping the tap running or we just might see this place on KITCHEN NIGHTMARES?.good luck if you dare dine there, I hope your experience is better than mine.\r Pros: good for social hour beverage Cons: i've yet to see a recent review anywhere that was positive about the food more

Great food, draft beer 12/2/2007

I've been here more times than I can count, and I'm never disappointed with the food or drinks. Great selection of beers from the typical ones, to Hop Devil and Magic Hat #9. Definitely try the Chicken and Waffles. It may sound odd, but the crispy chicken, Belgian waffle, maple syrup, and a little hot sauce is amazing. You won't be able to find anything like it in Cleveland, though it is popular in the south. The cucumber wasabi dressing for salads is creamy with the right bite. Great place for lunch, late night dinner, or drinks any time. Just watch on weekend nights, the DJ can get pretty loud and it gets quite crowded. If that's not your scene, just go a little earlier in the day or week. Pros: Amazing food and beer Cons: Gets very loud on Friday and Saturday nights more

Good times 1/24/2005

Went here for happy hour on a Friday night. The happy hour prices were good and it was fairly crowded. We shared the appetizer platter and were very happy for our $12 (it fed two of us for the enitre night). The mozzerela sticks were the best part. Watched many other menu items walk by us and they all looked good. Presentation of food was excellent. Perhaps the best part was the bartenders, stunningly good looking and great service despite the crowded happy hour! Pros: Good service, Hot bartenders Cons: , hour more
