Best

This place is value for money! Delicious 3 course meal. Fills you up just perfectly for around about $10-$12. The location is fantastic, the interior design of the place has such ...

Worst

I've been to this location on many occasions and was very interested in the place when I was growing up as a kid. The service has declined and so has the quality of it's food. I...

Decent chain pasta joint 12/5/2002

Great value for the money, the pasta dishes are adequate, certainly tasty. OSF is best enjoyed with a group of 4 or more, kids really seem to love it. more

depends on age 11/20/2002

This is about the best restaurant for small and a little bigger children. The staff is very good, very patient with all - good training. Adults should not complain about the food (the lasagna is a comfortable choice) since that is not the point unless there is a serious monetary challenge and then it's quite suitable. Pros: parking, cheap for what you ge, child proof Cons: hard to find, downscale food more

unworthy experience 11/17/2002

I felt the food was alright. However, the entire experience wasn't worth the amount i was charged for a variety of reasons. more

You must be kidding. 11/15/2002

Why don't they just call it the Old Ragu Spaghetti factory? This is about as Italian as I am. In other words, not at all. Get a clue people. Pros: Uh...garlic bread? Cons: overpriced food, overpriced drinks, lack of flavor more

Get some Taste Buds 11/13/2002

Good cheap eats, but best food in town? Not bloody likely. Get what you pay for- more

Great family atmosphere 11/9/2002

My kids always enjoy sitting in a trolley car. Food is always good. Prices are even better. Menu items can vary but prices are always the same. Honolulu to Seattle or Tacoma to San Jose, you can always count on the value. The Portland site on the river is my favorite. My advice is to try something new every time. Pros: Inexpensive, Great food, Interior amenities Cons: Busy sometimes, Large group seating more

Turn this building into a Hotel. 10/9/2002

Sure, the building inside and out is very picturesque, what with its Wilamette river location and all, but usually I don't go to restaurants just for the scenery. Well, sadly, that's all I got here. The food tasted like it came out of a Chef Boyardee can, the portions were very wee compared to the price. After seeing the building, and before I tried the food, I wanted my wedding reception here, but after trying the food and prices I ducked out and had it at Izzy's instead. Go to Antonio's in Oak Grove if you want Authentic Italian food. Pros: Great river view, lots of seating, ample parking Cons: food, pricing, portion size more

Sassy, but not classy 10/3/2002

Cute, relatively inexpensive place to eat on the water... but great food? Can't say so... chain restaurants just don't cut the ten best list. more

Horrible pre-cooked pasta 10/2/2002

The only good thing I can say about this restaurant is that it is inexpensive and kid-friendly. The pasta is pre-cooked and sticky/slimy, sauces were very mediocre at best. Salad dressing was not good, obviously not made on the premises. I used to love this restaurant 20 years ago. The food was good and it was cheap. Now it is just cheap, and for the quality I would rather get a burger at DQ. more

you've GOT to be kidding! 10/2/2002

the audience nominees for such ""best of"" surveys are always embarassing, but Old Spaghetti Factory? I have to say I haven't dined specifically at the Portland outpost of this crappy chain, but surely its food and schtick are consistently lame coast to coast. If you want cheap Italian, can't you make it to a la buca or something? Or that great new pasta bar on Broadway? Old Spaghetti Factory is SO BAD. So bad. Cons: slimy food, lame schtick, lifeless chain more

A taste of Italy close to home 9/17/2002

The decor of the restaurant is GREAT. They have very reasonable prices for lunch, although the portions are on the small side. They have great service and great food. I would recomend the creamy pesto dressing for the salad. This is a great place to hold a birthday party for adults Overall it is a very nice restaurant. Pros: Creamy pesto dressing, Decor, Speed Cons: portion sizes/prices more

so-so Italian 9/3/2002

Very casual Italian dining; great for groups or families with kids. So-so food at a good value. more

THE place to eat! 8/9/2002

The Old Spaghetti Factory has wonderful food at reasonable prices. They always have good service and the decor is interesting without detracting from the experience. The one downtown even has a river view. What could be better? Pros: reasonable price, food, service Cons: sometimes crowded more

Decent place overall 8/6/2002

I enjoy the river view and walkway more than anything else. Not the greatest pasta in the world, but what do you expect for $6? And that INCLUDES salad or soup, bread, ice cream and soda or coffee. Overall great value, good place for kids, mediocre service, decent drinks, can be very crowded and very loud. Pros: Good value Cons: Crowded=Long waits, Loud more

Good atmosphere, poor food 7/30/2002

With its funky old-fashioned atmosphere and prime waterfront location, OSF could be a gem, but the food is below average. Pasta is overcooked to soggy limpness, and sauces are bland and unimaginative. It is cheap, but you get what you pay for. For some reason, it's always insanely packed--it is a good place to take kids because it's so loud. Pros: waterfront location, cheap Cons: always packed, subpar food more

GOOD FOOD RUDE STAFF 7/29/2002

for a lunch-time break from the ordinary it's a nice diversion from fast food.... However, the staff leave something to be desired, which leaves me not wanting to go back for a while.... more
