Ignore Fake Reviews 11/7/2011

The majority of these reviews are clearly fake. That's pretty pathetic, and just goes to show how desperate they are to get people into their doors. Not to mention the large number of deals they have with a variety of different online coupon companies. That's desperation. If you go on yelp and read reviews that mostly real, you can see that even at 50% off people are still dissatisfied, and the management doesn't seem to be making an effort to change a thing. So how do I know these high reviews are fake? First off, they ONLY list positives about the restaurant. Sure, there are some legitimate reviews that only have good things to say, but most will at least mention a small negative (ex. Amazing food! The decor is pretty boring, but you don't come here for that.) Another thing that makes it obvious that these are fake reviews are that the ""reviewers"" usually mention every aspect of the restaurant, and a good number even list features that are coming soon. Yeah right. These aren't reviews, they are advertisements placed on here by management/employees. Excellent service? The yelp reviews would beg to differ. And how many times are they going to try and sell the wine and garden in these fake reviews? Pathetic. Learn how to write fake reviews. I'm looking for a job if you want to pay me to write some for you. more

Mussels from heaven in the village NYC 10/6/2011

I always like looking for new restaurants and to try new things. I went here with some friends a few days ago and absolutely loved this restaurant. it is so cozy and beautiful and the outdoor garden with waterfall and pond is breathtaking. We started out with some nice drinks that were very tasty called grape and ginger, Yummm. Then we had the calamari app with 3 dipping sauces which were all delish. My friend had the lobster cobb salad as an entree, it was huge. I had the Valenciana mussels and my other friend the salmon. Everything was cooked perfect and very tasty. I cant wait to come back and try another mussel dish. more

A great place for seafood and mussels in the village 10/6/2011

Me and my husband came here for happy hour last week. The $1 oysters and $4 sangria pulled us in. We decided to come on the weekend and try the full menu and were so glad we did. The food was great and the service could not have been more polite and attentive. We sat in the amazing back garden with a waterfall and fish pond. You feel like your out in the country side and forget your in manhattan. This place is one of my favorites now. We must come back to try more mussel dishes. more

Best mussels in NYC 10/6/2011

I went here last night with a group of my girlfriends. What a beautiful restaurant with such a lovely staff. We order the tuna tartare and lobster mac n cheese to start which were both to die for. Then we went on to share the New York, Chefs best and the Thai and they were all amazing. I highly recommend to try this place if your on a date or with a large group. The ambiance and decor are breath taking. more

Awesome spot for cocktails & mussels 10/5/2011

Went here with a group of friends & had an awesome experience. It's always cool to find a restaurant with a unique concept. We ordered a bottle of a full-bodied spanish wine that was recommeded by our waiter, and it was a great selection. We ordered oysters & the lobster sliders for an appetizer which were delicious. We each ordered a different mussel dish so we could try several and they were all rich in flavor & the mussels were fresh. I recommend the Indian which has has red curry & a great bold flavor. We ordered a round of oyster shooters as well which was a great cap to the dinner. We'll definitely be going back. more

Joseph, Alex & Leo - WHAT is going on!!!! 9/1/2011

To: Joseph, Alex & Leo Baskin - Ok, we got a 50% off discount coupon (good up to $25.00) off a discount site - will not name. It is a brand new restaurant on the block of one of our regular restaurants that we frequent. We truly were looking forward to enjoying the whole dining experience, nice place - good looking outdoor garden area. The concept of the restaurant we thought was unique in itself. We sat towards the back of the restaurant right in front of the glass window for the outdoor garden (there is a bench seating in the back, why the host wanted to put us originally by another couple with all the available seating was a mystery to us but my wife took care of that...). The glasses for water were unusual to say the least, they reminded me of the little Glade jar candle holders you see on the shelves in supermarkets but none the less, a glass for water is a glass. Our waiter seemed like a college student that was pretty disinterested in his job or perturbed by the thought of customers coming in to eat in his area. We placed our order, I ordered ""American/Louisiana"" ($23.00) and my wife ordered ""Italian/Ciapino ($22.00). You could ONLY get greasy French fries fried in oil (obviously), as a choice to go along with the order as rice or PASTA was NOT an option with SEAFOOD – FIRST TIME EVER!!!! How ODD… So if you have a restricted diet due to starch or potassium content, you were S.O.O.L. (S?!t Out Of Luck)! Now what was most surprising was upon placing and waiting for our order, we knew something was wrong when we looked around and noticed that none of the tables had a bread basket on them. We thought that odd especially for a seafood restaurant - even your neighborhood diner offers you a bread basket. When we asked our waiter if it was possible to get some bread while we waited on our ""dinner"", his response was ""I think I can see if that can be done""...DUH, WHAT!!?? OK, a ""bread server"" comes out and puts what looks like a mini muffin on each of our plates and then abruptly walked away. We looked at each other and laughed. I'm sorry, were we not supposed to ask for bread???!!!! When our server brought out our food, there was great anticipation seeing this HUGE sliver looking pot. Upon opening the pot, we were shocked to see that for such a HUGH pot, there was ABOUT 1/4 of the bottom with food (THAT IS BEING GENEROUS in my description!). TOTALLY OVERPRICED for what was little more than a double appetizer. The ""bread"" that is placed on top of the dish when you open the cover is a rectangular piece of bread approximately 6 inches in length. DARE you ask for anymore bread - WE DID! Every ""seafood"" place we have ever been to in our life, offers bread to sop up your broth if wanted. When we finished the original ""piece"" they ""supplied"", I asked for more which led to a different ""bread server"" coming out with his basket and silver tongs to give ME ONLY another carefully cut 6 inch piece of rationed bread, ONLY for me to remind him that it would be great if my wife got another ""piece"" also. This highly intelligent individual’s response was, ""Oh, I have to get more, I will be right back""...it is really as if the bread was RATIONED out for the night! Wouldn't a BRIGHT individual see 2/TWO people at a table and if bringing out bread or water bring for both parties. Come on people; let us use our heads for something else besides a hat rack! The ""SEAFOOD"" - they give you 3 - 4 medium size shrimp and then the rest of the ""shrimps"" are like filler that a cheap Chinese restaurant uses in their egg rolls as was noticed in both of our dish and the scallops where the same in my wife's dish. We actually both thought they were tiny pearl onions until we figured it all out! We were shocked to say the least as was the table near us. more

Tasty cocktails & yummy mussels in the village 5/20/2011

A group of us ladies went here for a friends birthday. The birthday girl heard about it from a friend on Facebook. What a cute restaurant. Amazing decor and beautiful back garden with a waterfall and fish pond. The bar area could be a little brighter, maybe different lighting like in the dining area would make it more appealing. The food was amazing and the drinks delish. The mussels come in these cute pots and they are big and juicy. Coming back next month for another b-day party. more

Lovely dinner last night 5/19/2011

Even though the weather was terrible yesterday, Me and my husband decided to go out and get a bite to eat. We received an invite on Facebook to this new restaurant and thought it looked interesting. What a great concept of mussels with different sauces. To my surprise the restaurant was busy even in the heavy rain. We didn't make a reservation but the host seated us right away. We started out with some delicious wine and then went to the apps. We ordered only one mussel entree cause my husband wanted to try the steak also. The food was superb and the staff very professional and attentive. My husband wants to go back to try all the different mussel dishes and I am happy to agree with him. more

What beautiful restaurant and great food 5/18/2011

I've seen a-lot of tweets about this restaurant on twitter so me and my husband decided to try it out for our anniversary. We were sat in the outdoor garden which is breath taking and ordered a bottle of the house red wine which was wonderful. We order a few apps and 2 mussel entrees which were delicious. We were full but still decided to try the Nutella flan for dessert which was incredible. The staff was very attentive and caring with out being over baring and we had a superb experience. more

Best Mussels in NYC 5/18/2011

I went to this place for a birthday party my friend was having and its a perfect restaurant for that. The pots of mussels are big and you can eat them family style if you wish. The rib eye steak and chicken & waffle dishes were fantastic also. It was nice going with a big group since we were able to try many flavors of mussels. I think the New yorker and Thai were my favorite but thats cause I like heat on my food. The wine selection is good also. Lots of great bottles for moderate prices. Great service and friendly staff. This place is a must try if you are looking for something new and exciting but different. more

the worst service ever 5/15/2011

I can't say enough about the ghastly disgusting attitude of the workers. Treated very shabily. DO NOT GO HERE. Seriously!! Over priced, tiny portions, food so-so. more

HORRIFICALLY RUDE WAIT STAFF! Nasty Owner Too. 5/15/2011

HORRIFICALLY RUDE WAIT STAFF! Portions are quite small for the price. Food is average. Restaurant empty except for 3 tables yet waiters were unavailable. 10 minute wait just to be acknowledged. Lovely back yard garden. Inside table are too close and not conducive for conversations without next table hearing you. We cannot stress enough how sassy, fresh and dismissive the staff is. more

A hidden beauty of a restaurant 5/12/2011

I heard about this restaurant from Facebook and decided to make a reservation. The ambience and decor are wonderful along with the beautiful Chandeliers and lighting. The menu is very extensive and has a-lot of great things to choose from. The wine list is even better. Me and my friends had a great time. more

Great date spot and wonderful food 5/10/2011

I went to this place on a date and had a great time. The food was terrific and service on point. My date doesn't eat seafood but there were plenty of non-seafood items to choose from on the menu including pasta, chicken, steak and lamb. I had the Thai Mussels and they were fantastic. If you want to impress your date on your wine selection this is the perfect place since everything they have is terrific. Even the house red & white which we both tried were fantastic. The back garden waterfall is nice and the outside seating front and back is big plus. You can come here casual or dressy and not feel out of place. more

Disappointed! 5/8/2011

Disappointing. Understanding that it was Mother's Day and perhaps a busy time but the restaurant on the whole appeared to be ill prepared. Where do I begin? With Chef Ronnie serving lobster as an entree it would make perfect sense to make the appropriate utensils available....not a a lobster cracker or pick in site. The lobster was tasty but made for a very uncomfortable challenge, and those of us at our table of 10 could not fully enjoy the meal. Additionally, no bread was served, the orders were wrong and the servings did not all come out at once. The staff seemed totally out of sorts, rushing around and looking and sounding confused! Some at our table were served at least 15 minutes ahead of others. The experience was truly a test of patience! more

Girls night out and we went to The Mussel Pot 4/29/2011

A group of 9 of us were going out for my girls birthday and a few people on Twitter lately have been tweeting about The Mussel Pot. So we decided to check it out. The pictures do not do this beautiful restaurant justice. When we got there we asked to sit in the back yard but since there were no large tables available at that time, we sat in the dining room but still close to the patio so we can see the waterfall. No biggie cause it was a bit chilly out anyway. We decided to drink wine and ordered a few bottles. We ordered a few different mussel dishes to try and shared everything family style. Everything was yummy. The mussels were fresh, big and juicy and served in these adorable pots. We had a great time. A great restaurant for birthday parties. more

Fabulous Brunch 4/29/2011

I was looking for a brunch place that had something different on the menu besides the usual items. Then I found The Mussel Pot. We sat in the outside garden and it was a beautiful day. I ordered the lobster omelette and my husband had the Belgium waffles. Both dishes were delicious. We're coming back this weekend to try some of the other brunch dishes. My sister is coming to town next week and I will be taking her out to dinner at this new gem of a restaurant. more
