My favorite Irish pub 4/14/2006

I've been to Ireland, and I really like the Local. It's got a bit of the Irish Pub feel, while still being somewhat Americanized. I really like the selection of Irish Whiskey. It's one of my favorite places to downtown. The menu could be a bit more varied, and maybe have some more lamb dishes on it, but I've not had a bad meal there yet. The service is usually good, as well. Just be prepared that this place is packed on Friday evenings! more

The Local 3/27/2006

The Local is a fantastic Irish Pub, right in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. The restaurant is HUGE and offers traditional Irish cuisine and American favorites as well. Other than possibly your Friday or Saturday night, you will usually get a table right away, as they have several rooms. They also offer a good amount of outdoor seating right on Nicollet Mall, for the summer time meal. Nicollet Mall is quaint and much safer than say, Hennepin Ave in Mpls. Eating some Irish fare and sipping on a beverage (their bar is top knotch, too!) on a warm summer evening; I can't think of a better time. more

Nive atmosphere--great food! 10/5/2005

"The Local" is located right in downtown Minneapolis on 10th street and Nicollett Ave. For those familiar with downtown, it is not hard to find. Just be prepared to park a ways away, especially if you want free or cheap parking. I was recently here with my husband and friends. I tried some kind of chicken soup with vegetables and a tomato base. It was delicious! My soup also came with great tasting bread! The sandwiches are also fairly affordable for downtown dining. I heard that there is live music sometimes but there was not any when I was there on a Saturday night. more
