Large hip restaurant. Not impressed by another large hip restaurant but the bar is great and the drinks fantastic.

Loud, dark and friendly 5/24/2011

The noise level was pretty loud, it was difficult to hear my companions across the table. The dark lighting also made reading the menu and seeing what we were eating difficult. That said, the meal as fantastic! more

good decor/food - terrible service 3/7/2011

Great ambiance/decor, food and cocktails which all deserve a 4 star - however, extremely disappointed in service. As I was being seated to my table, a waiter dropped a dish of white creamy sauce which spilled all over my legs, the front/back of my jacket and my purse. The hostess said sorry then continued walking me to my table, without offering to help at all. more

Oh, You Fancy Huh? 2/6/2011

Had a few post-dinner cocktails at the Hurricane on Saturday evening. Set in an somewhat inconspicuous yet amazing building off of Park Ave, as soon as you walk in you're greeted with opulence; tall ceilings, pristine decor, then you enter the main dining and lounge area. The large open main room is great. Designed with tables and lounge seating/standing around the a rectangular centralized bar. The bar is quite a cluster to get to if it's busy and I didn't see a cocktail waitress. We went with a group of about 10 people so that could have had something to do with our inability to get better service. I'd definitely recommend this spot for an after work casual drink, definitely not clubby, more country-clubby, surprisingly it wasn't too pretentious of a crowd. It is very nostalgic and takes me back to a time when I didn't exist, which is always a nice treat. They have a large rum selection which I would have like to get into, but it simply wasn't the time. more

Vegas-style Polynesian Supper Club Brings Posh to Gramercy 11/27/2010

Officially the most beautiful place in New York--for the day, anyway--comes the Hurricane Club. More Vegas than tiki bar, the cavernous, crystal-chandeliered, multiroom AvroKO-designed Polynesian supper club does it BIG. Think rum fountains...in underground shoeshine rooms. Upon setting foot inside its mammoth gold-enamored white stone entryway, you'll be taken by its overwhelming opulence. Retreat to its backrooms to imbibe specialty drinks in nostalgic-era and pseudo-tropical decor -- you'll surely feel like you're not in Manhattan anymore. more
