Had a few post-dinner cocktails at the Hurricane on Saturday evening. Set in an somewhat inconspicuous yet amazing building off of Park Ave, as soon as you walk in you're greeted with opulence; tall ceilings, pristine decor, then you enter the main dining and lounge area.
The large open main room is great. Designed with tables and lounge seating/standing around the a rectangular centralized bar. The bar is quite a cluster to get to if it's busy and I didn't see a cocktail waitress. We went with a group of about 10 people so that could have had something to do with our inability to get better service.
I'd definitely recommend this spot for an after work casual drink, definitely not clubby, more country-clubby, surprisingly it wasn't too pretentious of a crowd. It is very nostalgic and takes me back to a time when I didn't exist, which is always a nice treat.
They have a large rum selection which I would have like to get into, but it simply wasn't the time.
