The Homestead

We stayed at The Homestead Hotel while visiting Northwestern University. This hotel was a wonderful choice. We were mere steps from campus, downtown Evanston, and the sandy shores of Lake Michigan. Customer service was wonderful, and the location was ideal. Free wireless internet, garage parking, and complimentary breakfast were included with the room, and were a welcomed surprise! Some reviews of this hotel on other sites don't do it justice. It's an older building with tons of character. It's well maintained, very clean, and the staff is genuine and helpful. While there, were learned that they even have a charming garden in front with fresh basil and home grown chili peppers, grown for exclusive use at the Hotel's restaurant, Quince. This place was refreshing and relaxing! This is now our "go-to" hotel whenever we're in Evanston! Oh, and ps, excellent rates for the area! more

This place is pretty famous in Evanston. Built in the 1920's this beautiful hotel is family run and is located only a couple of blocks away from the lake and is also near Northwestern University. You have the option of renting a studio or a one or two bedroom for a week or even a week or month or more. This elegant stay will cost a little more than some of the chains but is definitely worth it. more

The Homestead is located just one block from downtown Evanston and Lake Michigan. The tree-lined street is part of the charm of this hotel. The rooms have kitchettes and come sparsely furnished. Room service is not available. There is a restaurant located on the ground floor, Trio. While clean, and charming the hotel does not amenities found in some of the larger hotel chains. more
