The Gym at Mecca

My husband and I both try out spas both large and small all around the Central Texas area and we finally found our favorite! We were impressed with the layout of the spa/facilities. It was warm and comfortable from the moment we got off the elevator. I felt very catered to with small touches, like choosing your own aromatherapy oil, using warm towels and especially the steam room- very nice touch! The place is truly beautiful, and the staff goes to any length to make you happy. Mecca has culled the personal trainers from the best gyms in town. They know the latest exercises and are truly inspirational. The aesthetics are unbelievable. For cardio buffs, you have your choice of watching your own personal TV or watching the happenings down on Sixth and Lamar. An hour of cardio has never gone faster for me. The Spa rivals any in Los Angeles or New York. Except instead of attitude, you get wonderfully pampered. I plan on having the special monthly treatment EVERY month to reward myself for the hard work in the gym. Pricey? Maybe. But when you look at your results, and the ability to work-out in a beautiful setting with great support around, its worth it. Members also get a discount in the spa. Friendly staff greet you as you step off the elevator. All the necessary amenities in the locker room plus: a eucalyptus steamroom! The gym has lots of machines to choose from and plenty of weights...and while it can get busy in the gym it never feels crowded like others in town. You never feel like you're swallowed by the crowd like at the bigger gyms... you can get to know people in this gym...it feels personal, never anonymous especially when everyone knows your name. This is the most overpriced un-impressive gym I have ever visited. The work-out facility is small and does not have near the selection of equipment as the other gyms in town. The spa services are enjoyable but the facility is not up to par compared to resort like spas even though the services are priced the same.
