Let me begin by saying that I've been bringing my 2 boys to this learning center for just over 5 years :) My first born started at 4 months old, and my 2nd was 8 weeks old. They are almost 5 and 3 now :) My five year old is in kindergarten, but now attends their after school program.
I found this center just driving in Stone Oak, and while I was pregnant with my first one I decided to check a few out in the area. I visited with Rainbow Station, Primrose, Kids R Kids, and a couple others I can't remember.
None of the others were terrible. But I had an instant connection with this place when I walked in and felt welcomed right away :) Miss Lisa (one of the directors) was the first person I met. Right away she showed me around, answered all my questions, and genuinely seemed to want me to stay. The other places I'd visited weren't nearly as warm or inviting.....they were very business like or ""snobby"", like I was just a number.
After speaking to my husband, I went and put a deposit down the next day to hold my spot, as there was a waiting list.
When it came time to bring my first born on his first day, as I started back to work, I was so nervous, anxious to leave him and frankly scared! I'd never left him with anyone else before. I was blessed with the two kindest women....one was Ms. Tracy, who is still there :) One of many who have been there as long, if not longer than I have been. She was a God send. She made me feel so comfortable leaving him. And I was welcomed to come anytime I felt like it to see how he was doing, or call.
That was how I started. My boys have flourished under their care, and have had the best teachers, from some of the younger college age staff, to the more mature ""experienced"" staff. All have been a blessing to me and my boys.
My oldest who is now in kindergarten, had Ms. Veronica, Ms. Anna, and Ms. Mary B.....wonderful, wonderful teachers. They had a HUGE part in my son's education. He's been selected for the Gifted and Talented program, and it's in large part to them....they truly ""teach"" these kids. And I thank GOD for Ms. Veronica for potty training him : ) :) :) Those ladies have been there as long as I've been there.
Ms. Crystal and Ms. Sam come to mind when I think of my 3 year old. He absolutely adored Ms. Sam who is also still there and is gem! He now has a wonderful new teacher that is teaching him so well!! She has tought him table ettiquette and ""manners""....she's awesome!
They have field trips, annual fall festivals, extra curricular things to sign up for, like dance, basketball, and tumblebus. They offer computer and spanish as well :)
And their rates are very competitive for the area, if not a little better. I check periodically myself.
Is this daycare perfect, no....but what daycare is? What school is for that matter? There are way too many pros that outway the cons, that really aren't worth mentioning. There is absolutely going to be some staff turnover from time to time...especially in this economy...and a few of the staff are college students as well, going into education.
My boys come home happy....that's all that matters, and there's no doubt in my mind that my boys best interest is at heart!!!
Oh, and I love how almost all of the staff know my boys....it feels like home :)
Angela :)
oh, I forgot to add, one of the neatest things they do is having a ""kinder readiness"" graduation in May....they actually have real caps and gowns and diplomas and a reception....definitely a memory I'll have forever :)
