Upon my arrival at the Capital Grille I was very pleased with the ambiance and decor. The hostess was very helpful in seeing me to the bar. Which was relatively small for such a fine establishment. The bartrnders were very professional, curteous and warm. Made a great martini (dirty). My guest and I sat at one of the tables behind the wood/glass wall an were promptly greeted by our server. The server was very professional and new the items by heart and ran us through the items and the Capital Grille ""we can do anything drill."" Due to her pitch we split a very nice prosciutto mozzeralla dish had our salads and ordered the wine (1/2 btl unduly expensive). Up until this point in time every thing was top notch, including the dinner rolls. For our main courses we ordered the Porcini rubbed Del monico and a Kona encrusted sirloin, paired with Augratin potatoes and creamed spinach. For a restaurant that prides itself on steaks being top notch and the focus of its menu, perfection was not attained. The sirloin was under cooked, but even if it were down correctly, was probably one of the worst cuts of meat I have tasted in a long time. The DelMonico, which was cook to the correct temp, was also encumbered by numerous tendons and sinus that went above and beyond ""well"" marbled. The creamed spinach was overly salted and unedible. The potatoes were practically raw. Cheesecake was outstanding as well as the after dinner drinks. It will be quite sometime before I return. I have discovered another steakhouse that prides itself on its steaks and has probably the best wine list in Jacksonville.
