This place is first class!!!!!! 5/10/2008

My wife and I went for dinner tonight. We called for a 8:30 reservation and the hostess they only had 9:30 and after. I took the reservation on the time they had available. About 3 hours later I got a call from the General Manager who let me know that the 8:30 reservation I initialy requested was available. I of course took it, but even more important who does that? What a magical night it was! I let the General Manager know it was a special night for my wife and I celebrating an early mothers day. He had a carnation on the table for my wife along with a card signed by the staff. The whole evening was just memoralbe, the food, the service, the hospitality were all first class! I will be back as often as possible. Pros: I can not list them all... Read my review Cons: Not a one.. more

We went to the Capital Grille for my husband's birthday. There were six in our party. We had reservations so we were seated immediately. The waitress was sweet and very knowledgable about the menu. We ordered several different types of the encrusted steaks and one fish dish. Everyone enjoyed their steak and each was cooked to perfection. We shared a lobster appetizer. We all had a great time and it was the best steak I've ever eaten. The side dishes were awesome. Nice place. Pros: Great steak, great side dishes, and nice ambience. Cons: $ price. more

Missed the mark in its menu staple 3/6/2008

Upon my arrival at the Capital Grille I was very pleased with the ambiance and decor. The hostess was very helpful in seeing me to the bar. Which was relatively small for such a fine establishment. The bartrnders were very professional, curteous and warm. Made a great martini (dirty). My guest and I sat at one of the tables behind the wood/glass wall an were promptly greeted by our server. The server was very professional and new the items by heart and ran us through the items and the Capital Grille "we can do anything drill." Due to her pitch we split a very nice prosciutto mozzeralla dish had our salads and ordered the wine (1/2 btl unduly expensive). Up until this point in time every thing was top notch, including the dinner rolls. For our main courses we ordered the Porcini rubbed Del monico and a Kona encrusted sirloin, paired with Augratin potatoes and creamed spinach. For a restaurant that prides itself on steaks being top notch and the focus of its menu, perfection was not attained. The sirloin was under cooked, but even if it were down correctly, was probably one of the worst cuts of meat I have tasted in a long time. The DelMonico, which was cook to the correct temp, was also encumbered by numerous tendons and sinus that went above and beyond "well" marbled. The creamed spinach was overly salted and unedible. The potatoes were practically raw. Cheesecake was outstanding as well as the after dinner drinks. It will be quite sometime before I return. I have discovered another steakhouse that prides itself on its steaks and has probably the best wine list in Jacksonville. Pros: Bartenders and staff Cons: Steaks, value more

Need better servers and Management 2/27/2008

Poor service and sub par food. Cookie cutter standards with robotic servers. Funny how CG is owned by Rare who owns Longhorn. Longhorn Servers have fun and have personalities not robotic like CG, Take LH servers any day. Pros: Location Cons: Service more

Don't waste your money....poor management. 12/26/2007

Jacksonville's Capital Grill has a long way to go to keep up the reputation of the chain. I just recently dined at the Capital Grill in Orlando and the customer service and the food quality was far superior than that of Jacksonville. My daughter and I had lunch at the Capital Grill at Towne Center last week. The dry aged steaks were heavily charred and overwhelmed the taste of the steaks. The vegetables (green beans) were also charred tasting. My daughter and I struggled in and out the doors with a baby stroller very unlike Orlando's CG where the customer service is what you would expect for a high end restaurant. The management was rather snobbish instead of the customer service I would expect when paying the high prices of this chain. I must say that our waitress was very accommodating and did everything we expected and more. Overall, food quality wasn't as good as The Outback and the management needs to beef up customer service. Pros: Could be better with time and a different attitude. Cons: Poor management and poor customer service. more
