Poor service, mediocre food 2/7/2010

Maybe they were just having a bad night, but it took my 3 friends and I almost 30 minutes to get our food -- 3 sandwiches, 2 salads, and breadsticks. The sandwiches were small and singed, not nearly enough food for the man in our group. Everything we requested from the server seemed like a huge, frustrating inconvenience for him, from asking to have pesto dip warmed up to having the check divided. Nothing about my experience there would bring me to come back. more

our pizza was loaded and delicious. the medium thick crust was a tad sweet but overall the delight to price ratio was above average. why is it that so many restaurants in PDX are really not that clean? come on portland, you can do better. Ordered a pizza from the BO for the first time tonight. It will be our LAST. $23.25 for a 3 topping large pizza, we asked for "crispy salami, well-done pizza" My husband called on the drive home, he had taken a peek at the pie and suggested I turned on the oven. Not only was it not well done it was UNDER done. Gross. Yuck. Pros: yuck Cons: gross more

Why cant we have more places like this 2/19/2008

I now live in west linn/lake oswego - the death zone for good resturants appearently as we've only a few decent places. While i love flying pie in SE, somehow the one in lake oswego manages to rival dominos in "are you kidding me, really??" factor. Blind onion is almost worth the 45 minute drive from my house just for the pizza. The location is dark and cavelike, and a little on the harley davidson side for my tastes, but the staff as well as the crowd are always friendly; and lets' face it, i'm there for the pizza anyway. Arguablly the best in town, a great place to take out of town people for a 'taste of portland' Pros: possibly the best pizza you will ever have Cons: interior - you will probably love or hate it, but you will have a strong feeling more

My favorite Pizza 8/27/2007

After reading a couple of the negative reviews I went to my favorite Pizza joint (Blind Onion) and asked the staff specifically about freshness of dough and toppings, as I thought it is all fresh! great pie every time 5/3/2006

I wanted to chime in on this list of all over the board reviews. This is my favorite pizza in town, and whenever I get it for guests they rave. Honestly, I would recomend take-out here as the dark, smokey, video poker chimey thing is not for me, but that's how I enjoy most of my pizzas. The crust, cheese and other toppings always seem fresh to me, maybe not pizzaasholl(sp?) fresh but better than Old Town, Flyin' Pie and American Deram, all good pies by the way. Blind Onion is just the best crust, substance and toppings in town. Never soggy, never over-done and I always eat the chewy hand twisted crust. I am a picky pizza guy and never eat the big chain pizzas and I think Blind Onion is Portland's best pie. Try a CB, pineapple, feta and garlic. more

so-so 3/28/2005

This was a small place, rather dingy/dirty, and made me feel a little claustrophobic. I'll give em points for the Modest Mouse on the radio when I walked in, the nice assortment of board games, and the hot sauces at each table. The micro-brew selection seemed a little limited/generic expect for one beer called Laurelwood? That was some good beer. We got the Garden of Eden pizza which I thought was pretty good. Crisp, fresh veggies I liked, but my dinner date didn't care for. The staff and locals made us feel welcome. The twisted crust was different, and a nice touch. I'd recommend this place if you live in the area, but not for the long haul. more

Just Delicious 1/29/2005

The crust is sweet, textured, the right kind of chewy. If you like a thiner crust, this is perfection. All the hype is right. If even the ambiance was bad (I find it fine), the beer was bad (I dont drink) and the service was bad (seemed fine to me, if not friendly) I would still go there: THE PIZZA IS THAT GOOD. Seriously. Go. Pros: best, pizza, ever more

That's not Pizza 9/24/2004

I cant believe anyone likes this pizza. The crust was awful, and was not made fresh (we watched the staff pull our crust from deep freeze). The toppings were from a can, and the sauce isnt even worth mentioning. What is left to like? They have some serious issues with their beer taps. The first beer couldnt be poured because of frozen tap line (WTF?). The beer I did get tasted funky, and I recall pints being $3.50. I dont think the staff understands the concept of cleaning beer lines. To top it off, the low ceilings mean you are in the second hand smoke. The space is cramped, and not in a good way. I love the chicken margharita -- add broccoli. I love the crust too, and I am completely smitten with the low ceilings, board games, picnic tables on the sidewalk, and "intimate surroundings." You have to try their pizza. Pros: PIZZA!!! more

Great pizza in a friendly dive 2/19/2004

The pizza here is phenomenal, in spite of the outdated, over-the-top member reviews here. The twisty crust really is great and the Greek pizza here is loaded with toppings and perfectly balanced. The place is small and fills up quickly on the weekends, but you can always chill-out with some boardgames while you wait. Definitely recommended. Pros: Great crust, Good toppings, Games Cons: , Music too loud, small space more

I've heard several Portlanders rave about the pizza at Blind Onion, so my expectations were high, but I found it good, not great. I enjoyed the experience in general but prefer a bit more "punch" to my pizza. more
