I've heard of hot Thai but..... 7/28/2008

I totally agree with the last review. We went there the other evening and there air conditioning was not working but they did have 2 portable swamp coolers going (no water attached) to try and keep it cool, we ended up sitting right in front of it to be somewhat comfortable. After chatting a little bit the owner/waiter told us in broken english that ""we shoud oder clickly to get serve soona"", well ok then. We quickly order our food and drink and soon our dinner arrives (3 out of 4 is not bad) after 5 minutes we ask if our 4th dish is due any time soon. After they scramble a bit we realize that they dropped the ball and the young waitress (daughter who was more concerned with the TV then anything else) totally depended on the cook to make sure all the dishes are accounted for. 10 minutes later the dish appears out of the back room with no apologies or ??? Pros: chairs and tables to sit on :-} Cons: no airconditioning, service from the whole family more

Don't overstay your welcome! 6/30/2008

The food was actually quite good; however, I will never return. Arrived at 1pm for lunch. Around 2:30, asked if it was OK that we stayed (and talked.) Was told OK, BUT around 3:15, the waiter (owner???) turned on the volume of the flat-screen TV to an extremely high decibel level. When another customer arrived around 3:30pm, he turned off the volume and served him. THEN, HE TOLD US THAT WE NEEDED TO LEAVE!!! So, even though he was ""open"" for the other customer, we were not welcome to stay and chat. Of course, our water glasses had not been re-filled in at least an hour! So, there really was NO customer service and an absolutely rude demeanor. Too bad I enjoyed the food, otherwise this would have been a NO STAR review! Pros: food good Cons: limited lunch menu; absolutely horrendous/rude service, asking us to leave when we overstayed our ""welcome"" more

Love the food - Service needs improvement 5/23/2008

I love the food at this place, but the service is a bit unusal. I took my uncle there who was visiting from out of town along with my son and his date. Half the parties' food arrived 20 minutes before the others. That was very uncomfortable. We could have chosen to wait on their food to come before eating but then ours would have been cold. The limited english spoken there makes it a bit difficult to order your food. I have been in the past several times and I see that they have decorated since then. It does look a lot better with an odd placement of the flat screen television. It is always quiet there, but I wish there were more considerate when dine in a group. We came together so it was obvious to me that we had planned on eating together. Good food but not very considerate! Pros: Good Taste Cons: Bad Service! Slow! more

Good food, quiet atmosphere 6/13/2007

I had head about this place via Citysearch but it was way out of my way. However, i recently got a job in the area and decided to try it. It is great food. My friend and I went for lunch and the portions look a little small, but they fill you up. Neither one of us finished our plates. At lunch your meal comes with a bowl of soup and an egg roll. YUM! Lunch only cost us 15$ for both of us (before tip). We were the only ones in the place (we ate around 1:30 on a weekday) and our service was quick and good. I highly recommend this place. You can choose how hot you want your dish...very very good. I wouldn't consider this place really romanitic, but i like it and will be returning. Pros: Cheap, good, quick more

Most authentic Thai food in Denver! 3/1/2007

I read several reviews on this site about Thai Spice and felt compelled to write one myself. My wife and I go there time to time even though it's quite a bit of drive from where we live. One reason - great dishes! Yes, I agree that they are most of the time understaffed, but just relax for goodness sake! If you want someone to come over and constantly give you 5-star rate service, go there and pay for the service! I am tired of places like Thai Basil or other wanna be authentic Thai restaurants that can never get a dish right. Our friend who is a Thai herself told us that there are no other Thai restaurants in Denver that can make dishes as authentic as Thai Spice. One advice I have - just be careful with spiciness when you order. They have 1-5 rating, with 5 being the spiciest. We usually get 3, but sometimes this week's 3 can get spicier than last week's 3. Pros: Most authentic Thai dishes in town Cons: Understaffed, but if you would just chill out, it will be alright. more

WATCH OUT IF YOU ARE VEGETARIAN!!!!!! 1/29/2007

I have always been happy with my meals at Thai Spice. Although the staff is rude, I haven't had to deal with them as much seeing as that I always take out. I am a VERY STRICT vegetarian and I ordered the green curry, half-way through my meal I noticed several chunks of chicken in it. They replaced my meal but without a sincere apology. It made me feel very sick. Also when I showed them the chicken they asked for the cup of green curry back that was in my car. I don't know if they just reused it or what but the whole incident left me feeling disturbed and without an appetite! Not recommended for strict vegetarians and that's a shame. more

Thepeople who work there are just plain mean and rude 8/11/2006

I have never written a review before, but let me tell you-as good as the pad thai is, the people who run the restaurant offer the most incosiderate, rude and incompentant service out there. I have eaten there several times because of the food, but you are guaranteed to never recieve a smile, have a dirty plate cleared for you, have anyone ever come back to ask you how everything was. They typically will have one server for the whole restaurant whether there is one table or eight seated. I really like the pad thai but feel bad every time I give them any of my money becasue of how they treat thier guests. Pros: Great pad thai, one of my favorites Cons: Rudest and unfriendliness staff of any restaurant I have ever been to, ever more

Worst Thai food ever 7/24/2006

Let's start off with the fact that I am Thai and have been to a lot of Thai restaurants in the country and all around the World. This is by far the worst Thai restaurant I've ever been to. Pad Thai is way too sweet and, instead of using tamarind juice, they used ketchup as a part of their Pad Thai sauce. That is just wrong! Price may look cheap, but portion is small. My co-workers loved this place, but after I showed them what real Thai food is from my own kitchen. They did not walk away from this place, but ran. Cons: Worst Thai food, "OK" service more

good food, horrible service 7/6/2006

I love the food at Thai Spice. However, without fail, every time I have been in the restaurant, I leave swearing I won't go back. I am ignored, talked over in a language that is not English and never greeted. It's so frustrating to not get service, when that's what businesses thrive off. The food is delicious, but I always get it to go, as I can only stand a few minutes in the restaraunt. more

all is maya 6/11/2006

As a longtime customer (approx SEVEN years), I was saddened by treatment rendered by a certain unnamed male waitstaff employee. Upon my POLITE inquiry for a certain item - my inquiry was met with insult. As I'm sure you'll agree, the food is often great at this location, however, I cannot afford to bring clientele / associates to a location where I'm publicly insulted... not to mention I'd prefer to just have my questions answered with a YES or NO, sorry we don't have that. Good help is clearly hard to find, the owners of this restaurant are wonderful people... kind & talented, however, it's unlikely that I'll darken the door again with other friendly Thai restaurants in the immediate area. Pros: Food is GOOD Cons: Waitstaff with racial superiority complex more

I drive 10 miles on average to eat here 6/2/2006

I have yet to find a green curry as good as the one served here. They have a point system to customize your food to the level of spiciness that you want and everything is freshly prepared to your specifications. I love this place and love taking friends to introduce them to my favorite Thai restaurant! You'll love it, I promise! Pros: The food, Customization more

True Thai food made by true Thai family 1/13/2006

We have been here about a dozen times even though we don't live close by, it's worth the trip. We come in groups or just as a couple. We have always had great food with just the right amount of spice. It's owned by a hard working Thai family and never disappointed with the great taste in all their dishes. Don't be in a rush, they make their food to order from scratch. more

Good Food- SLOOOOOW Service 12/22/2005

Over all, the food was Delicious! But, the service is another story....slow and very poor. We arrived at 6PM. To make a long story short, there were about 4 people in the restaurant, yet from the time we arrived to the time we left, was 2-1/2 hours. Our order was wrong and had to be corrected, no one refilled our water, asked if we needed anything once, or compesated us for the very long wait. No apology from the waitress. I've never had a 2 1/2"" hr dinner! But, in the spirit of the Holiday Season were calm through the whole thing. The food was good and I highly recommend it to anyone. I wish the service would be just as good. I would not go back there again for a sit down meal, but would order WAY in advance for PICK UP ONLY!!!!!!!! and definately not for GROUPS. Pros: Excellent Food Cons: Poor Service, Slow more

An evening disaster! 9/8/2005

Horrible night. We got there at 7pm were hungry so ordered an appetizer, it didn't come out until the other meal orders came out at 7:45! The server was so busy (it wasn't particularly crowded) and basically ignored us, never asked us if we needed anything. Maybe that was partly because of how the seats were laid out. We tried so hard to get the servers attention by staring, waving, and actually calling several times, but didn't have much luck. Why is it so difficult to call the server and ask for something? Prior to the dinner, we were in a good mood, and entered the place with our faces full of smiles, it was pretty difficult for us to get upset that night, but later it was turning into a disaster. Not just a waste of time or money but more than that... Shouldn't have gone there. Cons: service, seats layout more

Jackpot 3/25/2005

This little pot of gold at the end of the rainbow is full of taste. Its unique but mouth-watering dishes will captivate any hungry pedestrian. From the spicy noodle soup to any of its currys; this little roller coaster will make you keep coming back for more. Two Thumbs UP!! Way up!! Oh yeah, the prices are to die for!!!!! Fresh Spring Rolls are a delight!! Pros: Cheat, Delightful, Thai more

Really the best Thai in the Area 3/3/2005

The flavors and quality of the food at Thai Spice make the restaurant currently listed as best of taste awful. This is a spare, modern space with a large screen TV unnecessarily showing odd shows at the dinner hour. As another review states, the staff aren't masters of English, but I think that gives the nod toward authenticity. Did the waiter know what I was talking about when I asked to substitute a spring roll for the Thai egg roll? No, he didn't, but did he bring us an appetizer with fresh ingredients, not fried and the best seasonings around? Yes -- this is an authentic, delicious place to eat despite it's strip mall location. The Thai iced tea is great, pad thai delicious, and I now get cravings for their beef salad - fresh herbs make the difference. Go here - you won't be sorry. Pros: Quality of food, Fresh herbs & spices, Modern, spare design more

Pretty Good 10/5/2002

I have to say the cuisine was pretty good. Not quite authentic but close enough to be enjoyable. The place is clean, people friendly and the fried bananas were soooo good! The curries were only okay but the soups and noodles were pretty good. The only complaint I really have is the waiters/waitresses didnt speak English very well.. making it hard to order sometimes. Pros: Good food, Decent price Cons: Dont speak english more
