A fantastic experience 3/28/2012

My mother has recently been diagnosed with advanced endometrial cancer and I wanted her to get a second opinion here in Austin. I am a surgeon in another field and asked other docs about who to go see with recommendations to see Dr. Teneriello. After the consult, I was inspired to write a review for him. The appointment was relatively easy to set up and his staff were very nice to us. We came armed with many questions and Dr. Teneriello did an excellent job of giving us thorough and thoughtful answers. He spent a good deal of time with us and gave us all of his experienced opinions on treating stage IV disease. I really thought he did an excellent job and my mother really liked him. If she lived here in Austin, we would be working with him. It is just too inconvenient to set up her care here. He probably realized all of that and still did his best to educate us. I really appreciate his time and have a great respect for him. more

All Well 10/23/2011

When my doctor diagnosed uterine cancer, she referred me to Dr. T who she said was the best. After the first visit I had to agree. He and the staff are great. Surgery was set, but they found a heart problem on the testing before surgery and I had to have a heart stent first. After that I had robot surgery and all went well. That surgery was amazing, I went home the next day and never had to use the pain pills. I am grateful for everything, the heart surgery and cancer cure. I feel great. more

It's about cure 9/22/2011

Sometimes reviews are misleading. Not here. I had major surgery for ovary cancer, then chemo then more chemo to keep the cencer from coming back. This guy is an expert in this field. Make no mistake he will try to cure the cancer. Four years later, I am thankful for everything. more

Great Doc and Staff 1/31/2010

Dr. T and staff are excellent. They take care of some very sick women including my mom. When we went for a second opinion after surgery we were told that there were only a few surgeons in TX that could have done that surgery. The chemo staff are outstanding. Everyone was so approachable and helpful. Pros: Great Surgeon and Cancer doc Cons: Busy guy more

Great Doctor, Horrible Support Staff 11/3/2009

I liked Dr. Teneriello a lot. My problem was very minor and could be fixed through day surgery. I was very nervous since I had never had surgery before but he answered all my questions and did not make me feel stupid. \r \r His staff on the other hand is AWFUL! You can never get a hold of them over the phone. They have voicemails but don't even bother, they won't call back. One day when I was trying to get in contact with them, I sat with the phone and called over and over and over again for 30 minutes straight untill someone picked up. When they do finally get you an appointment to go into surgery, they call maybe 3 days in advance and just tell you what your day and time is at the hospital, not ""is this okay for you?"" They re-scheduled my pre-surgery appointment at least 4 times and my surgery 3 times because like someone people are saying, they believe some surgeries are more important than others and I guess mine was very minor compared to others.\r \r I do recommend Dr. Teneriello but don't let his staff push you around...because they will and make it look like you are the problem, not them. more

Does a GREAT job! 11/14/2008

Dr. Teneriello is awesome. He is very knowledgeable and the best at his profession. My mother had very advanced cancer that needed urgent and extreme care. Dr. Teneriello knew exactly what to do and saved my Mom's life. I would highly recommend him.\r \r His office staff is very caring and very compassionate. My Mom was in such a venerable state and his crew was nothing but supportive! Kudos to all of them. Pros: Supportive staff more

no Hope here 4/16/2008

When my wife and I were talking to him we asked about hope. I'll never forget his answer, ""Hope is not a deliverable."" We went to another doctor. There is a high turnover in staff, something is going on at Texas Oncology. I think this Dr. is in charge of this location and no one seems happy working there. Pros: He's is a gynecological oncologist Cons: He is known to Blacklist Patients more

Excellent experience and would highly recommend him 3/19/2008

I recently had an excellent experience with Dr. Teneriello and his staff. He spent a great deal of time talking to me and my husband regarding my cancer diagnosis, patiently answering questions and explaining my treatment options. His staff was very supportive and helpful in getting my records faxed over and were very compassionate both on the telephone and in person. Dr. Teneriello performed my surgery in an expert manner and made good follow up contact with me in the hospital after my surgery. I found him to be very confident and skilled in his field of expertise, not arrogant as some have observed. I found his manner to be very straight forward and to the point and I liked that. I felt completely at ease putting my life in his hands when under the knife. A friend of mine accompanied a relative who had to see him for ongoing cancer treatments over a period of several years and she always found him to be professional, skilled and supportive during those difficult times. Pros: Very skilled in his field of expertise more

May be a great technical doctor, but is arrogant and cares more about the bottom line. 2/10/2008

He might be a great doctor but his attitude towards patients, especially those that ask questions, is absolutely dismissive and cold. Not a very positive person, when fighting cancer I think have a positive doctor is a big benefit. I believe you can get a good doctor with a good attitude, but this guy is not it.\r \r When asking him questions he could never give a direct answer, but started talking about unrelated items, I think he just wanted me to know how he is intellectually superior to me.\r \r Also, beware that there are only 4 gynecologic oncologists in Travis County. Three are at his office. If you go see him and don't like him, you WILL NOT be able to change to another doctor within this clinic.\r \r Choose wisely...very wisely. Pros: Located in Austin Cons: Doesn't encourage 2nd opinions more

Too arrogant 8/18/2007

I found Dr. Teneriello arrogant, pushy and unwilling to discuss National Institutes of Health studies which contradicted some statements he'd made to me. He wanted to rush me into surgery and was dismissive about my concerns. It also worried me that, if I allowed the surgery and the follow-up chemotherapy, he and his partners would profit so enormously that he would be very biased in his treatment recommendations. It also seemed apparent to me that his staff is intimidated by him. Pros: Highly trained specialist Cons: Arrogant and dismissive more

Best gynecologist, EVER! 12/17/2006

Dr. Teneriello is so warm, caring, and BRILLIANT! I feel that if you want the best care for yourself, as soon as you meet him, you?ll know you have found it. It?s hard to find a doctor that lets you feel so at ease in such an uncomfortable situation. I couldn't imagine seeing anyone else, and neither will you. I've never written a review before, but I am compelled to let you know about Dr. Teneriello. Pros: Calm atmosphere with related services in the same building. more
