Best

Not a bad place at all. Really nice ambiance and the price is right. Probably best Japanese food in lower Greenville.

Teppo has a cool appearance about it. The shaded patio is a nice welcome before entering the restaurant. The restaurant is simple and clean. The hostess are kind, and looking around you know this sushi bar is the real thing. After taking in all the ambiance and the wait staff then you feel it...this place was uncomfortably hot. You could see it on everyones face, sweat. Then you begin to question the idea of ordering raw fish in such a hot enviornment. Ordering a glass of white wine a piece, with the idea of its cooling qualities was shot because the wine was warm as well. Water it is. The wait staff were excellent. Our waitress was kind, patient, attentive and very helpful with explaining specialty items. We were served a small bite of cold mashed red potatoes before dinner. They were good, but strange coming from a sushi bar. We settled on some rolls and roasted seabass. The seabass was superb; lightly browned, sweet and tender, perfectly cooked. This was some of the best we have had. Surprisingly the rolls were decent at best. The cooked rolls were abnormally spicy and the raw rolls had warm meat inside; maybe because of the temperature of the restaurant. Actually there was hardly any meat in the raw fish rolls, but loads of rice. We're talking 80% rice in the rolls. However, the food tasted good, but towards the end of the night my fiancee and I began having stomach pains for hours. This is all unfortunate because I've heard some good things about Teppo and it being the sister restaurant of Tei Tei anyone would have high expectations. The valet is $7 and the meal for 2 was $78 before tip. I didn't see any value in this place at all and will not be returning. Pros: Service Cons: Value, Food Quality more

Very authentic Japanese style sushi 7/1/2007

Best sushi on Greenville. The ambiance is very peaceful (no loud pop music). I have always had perfect servers willing to go into great detail. Don?t distress by the ?smaller? list of rolls---the freshness of the fish is grade none!! The sashimi Toro and Yellowtail is the best I have had in Dallas. It is also a treat to order the chef's choice roll---you never know what you are going to get! This is a sister restaurant of the fancy Tei Tei on Henderson. I recommend a Wednesday or Thursday night as a very small restaurant. Pros: Freshness & style Cons: Small space, so there could be a wait more

Overcharge/Waiter adds own tip. 2/14/2007

Small, quaint-looking place, but that's normal for restaurants on Greenville. We got there at 7:00pm on a Friday and was told the wait was about 40 minutes-could be because it was pouring that night and the outside tables were soaked...but the wait was actually 1.5 hours instead. Nonetheless, there's the adjacent bar that is tied to this restaurant and was cozy enough to lounge. Sushi seemed pretty authentic and well presented. The sashimi was fresh but the rolls seemed either skimpy or were missing some of the flavor. But, the rest of the sushi was mouth-watering and well worth the wait. Besides the underestimated wait time, the service was well-offered. The inside was pretty narrow but as long as it's warm enough and not rainy, I'm sure the patio would have been a nice setting.\r \r **************\r UPDATE-I take it back. We went again yesterday and turns out they over charged us (but we decided not to argue about it). Gave them a 15% tip and found out thru our online bank acct records that they added about $5 to our credit card charge total!! That would equate exactly to a 20% tip! How dare they! Like they think that we don't check our statements! Complained to Manager who apologized and confessed that they've actually had a few similar complaints before.....Not recommended! Cons: Feels free to overcharge and add their own tip. more

Great japanese food! 1/20/2007

Small, cozy restaurant, serves fabulous japanese comfort food. Try any of their yakitoris, they're awesome! more

Amazing Yakitori! 11/3/2006

Probably the best Yakitori(Japanese type of skewered chicken/other meats/vegetable) out of New York and California that I've had. This is not a place to go to eat just sushi (like th other 2 reviewers), rather, this is a place to eat Yakitori. Good service, nice decor. Native Japanese people would enjoy this place. Pros: Yakitori, Yakitori, Yakitori! Cons: Parking more

Great FRESH sushi 7/4/2006

I TOTALLY disagree with the other review. The wait for seating is to be expected at a higher end sushi place. Any true sushi lover knows sashimi is the way to go. Rolls are never really the best. This place rocked on FRESHNESS and atmosphere. My husband and I enjoyed it! Pros: Service, freshness, atmosphere Cons: NONE! more

sushi experience 1/2/2004

Ok, this restaurant is a lot about the look, not much about the taste... We were used to go to eat sushi and nothing else. The sushi/rolls we had had hard rice and you couldn't taste too much the flavour of the fish/sea food. Pros: looks, sashimi Cons: noise, rice for sushi more
