This is a great place to go to have a very good meal at a very reasonable price. There is a good variety of food to choose from. I?ve been to this place several times. I like the seafood and everything that I have tried is good. They have live entertainment and the bar tenders are friendly. I plan on having my 30th birthday party at taverna Opa. Nice atmosphere for parties and events. more

Nice servers, good management 7/20/2010

I went when it was REALLY busy so my food took a while...but I barely noticed! They started us off with some bread and apps that were delicious. Taverna opa south beach...best appetizers great lamp chops 1/20/2009

I was Taverna opa south beach 09 Jan 2009 with my friends we were like 15 people..when we just all arrived they brought us that hummus...oh my gosh what was that thing if anyone likes garlic,, that you should try, it was great. I was really surprised with the appetizer,,s they even had a vegetarian section for my girlfriend she love the stuffed peppers....I had the lamb chops very tasty....oh honestly I even did see the menu the waiter asked me what I like and he gave me all kind of choises..very friendly atmosphere?I recommend that restaurant for every one especially to any one from New York like me.. Great food and great service! 12/11/2008

I went to the South Beach location a few weeks ago. I was impressed with the service, our waitress was great. The food was amazing! Everything from the hummus to the desert was delicious. I would definitely go again. Try the seafood platter, it's out of this world! Pros: food, service Cons: a litlle pricy more

Good Greek food; Bad service 8/18/2008

We came in for a party of 20 people for a reservation planned 2 weeks in advance. Reservations were at 8 o clock and we were not seated until 9:00. Manager and other employees there treated you with indifference. The food was probably the best thing there. It was a fun experience being able to dance on the tables and throw napkins around. The thing that upset me the most however, was the fact that they tried charging you a lot more than what you expected. We paid the majority of the check in cash and placed the rest on a credit card. The amount owed was approx. 50 dollars. For some reason, the amount charged on the credit card was $150.00. We advised the waiter and he apologized and brought back the check with a smaller amount owed but still exceeded the 50 dollars owed. We tried to hunt down the waiter but couldn't find him so we left. What's funny is that I even read about the fact that they tend to sneak in some money at the end of your meal but I figured it was some sort of lie. I was wrong. I'll probably never go back there again even though the food was great. I was actually kind of happy to be leaving the restaurant. I recommend Taverna Opa for great Greek food and ambiance. in South Beach, FL. You are encouraged to dance on tables, have too much wine and pretend you are vacationing in a Greek isle! Love it! Pros: The best place to forget about your problems and be yourself more

Great! 11/24/2007

This place is wonderful. Everything was delicious, great authentic greek food. What really makes it stand out is the atmosphere. It's like a huge party! The service was average, but the food and atmosphere compensates for it. Whenever I have company from out of town, I always take them to Opa, because of its uniqueness. I have never left without a smile. Highly recommeneded. more

Poor Customer Service, Mediocre Food 4/11/2007

On a not crowded night, four of us had dinner there. Two of us were served and then a full half hour later, and after three requests, the other two were served. The excuse was that the chefs were learning new recipes for moussaka and pastitsio. The food showed up cold. Pros: Nice location. Fun Dancer Cons: Bad Service. Mediocre Food more

It is an Experience! 1/5/2007

When I first walked in with my family (a pretty conservative bunch) the ambience was good, and we were able sit quickly. I just did not realize the hidden expenses! If you have a party of 6 or more, you have to order a minimum of $15 per person. The average meal is around 15 dollars, but it is just the meat, it does not come with any side dishes. I was a little taken aback. The waiter was nice, but I felt he could have been more attentive. They also brought the sides way before the meat, so we ate it all before the main course. It was delicious, I mean, delicious, but a little slow. Pros: fun (if you like a club-like feel), food Cons: sometimes the service, loud music if that is not what you're into more

Exuberant Ambiance Tops It All. 3/27/2006

Upon entering one evening for a birthday gathering, I noticed that the restaurant was a little too noisy for my personal taste. The atmosphere was surely entertaining, but when ones ability to hear themselves think is compromised, I find that most people discover that to be somewhat of a paradox. The food was tasty, according to most, but the prices were not. Simply put, taste did not meet price at the same juncture of the contest. Understanding that the restaurant was packed, and with all the mercy encompassing benefit of the doubt, the service was still nothing that most would expect this far south on Ocean Drive. Moderateness if anything for South Beach standards. This restaurant shines in its exuberant ambiance while the rest took a back seat to the energy that this restaurant emanates. Belly Dancer 5/25/2004

I went to Taverna Opa on a Saturday night with a group of 15 friends. It was my first time, and I was taken completely by surprise. THe ambiance is wonderful. There is an open kitchen, the waiters do Greek dances for you, every once in a while they throw napkins in the air to get the crowd screaming. There is a belly dancer that comes around and dances on your table for tips. There's a bar in the back for people who may just want to drink instead of dine. It is absolutely wonderful. My only complaint is that our server was not the nicest of people. THe manager was awesome though. Pros: Entertaining/dancer, people Watch, Food Cons: , Poor service more

I love Taverna Opa! It's the BEST dining experience on South Beach. You can try to find more fun, but you'll search long and hard to find someplace better. The new Ocean Drive location is almost as good as the Hollywood location. If given a choice, I'd choose Hollywood. more

LET ME TELL YOU THAT TAVERNA OPA IS THE BEST RESTAURAUNT EVER. IT IS CRAZY, PEOPLE DANCING ON THE TABLES, BELL DANCERS EVERYWHERE, AND THE WAITERS DANCE AROUND THE ROOM!!! WE WENT WITH A GROUP OF FRIENDS AND HAD A BLAST!! IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A QUIET ROMANTIC PLACE THEN THIS DEFINITELY ISNT IT, BUT IT IS THE PERFECT PLACE TO GO WITH A GROUP OF FRIENDS!! FOOD WAS GREAT AS WELL!! SINCE THERE WAS 8 OF IT(and none of us could decide what we wanted) WE DID THE FAMILY STYLE WHICH WAS MORE THAN ENOUGH FOOD.
