Avoid 1/17/2010

Besides the staff not being friendly, I left a cash tip for the lunch buffet. When I saw my credit card statement, the same amount had also been added to my credit card. The lasi (yoghurt) drink had turned and made me violently sick that night. The staff had their infant roaming around, sucking a pacifier and touching everything. Cons: I got sick and cheated more

Worst service 9/9/2009

Bad customer service, food, not polite and extremely rude more

BAD TASTE OF INDIA 10/31/2008

I have been to this restaurant and I guarantee you that you will never be able to taste such horrible Indian food in your life time. The service is so bad that you would feel like you went there to beg for food. All the people who have given a good rating to this restaurant must have been either paid by the owners or must be the owners themselves. It would be more appropriate if the name is changed to 'BAD TASTE OF INDIA' because thats what it is. more

Taste Of India SUCKKKKKKKS!!!!! 10/5/2008

I am a desi and have eaten in many indian restaurants. But this one is worst. .The food was yucks..tasteless. Service is bad too. Both are terrible. I would never recommend this restaurant to anybody. more

Avoid any day, any time 9/9/2008

It all started with me and my friend on a business trip to Phoenix landed here for a dinner. Being brought up in India and staying in NJ currently, I have had all types of Indian food. Pros: dont remember any Cons: countless more

Horrible food is an understatement 9/9/2008

The pickles for the pappad came right from the freezer with a crust of ICE on it. Cons: ALL more

Horrible 8/29/2008

I tried their buffet on a weekend. The food was horrible. Not a single dish was good. The pakodas and tandoori chicken was too salty, the sambhar was not even sambhar, rice was not well cooked, the idlis were just lumps of dough without any taste. Pros: nothing Cons: everything more

best chicken tikka masala in phoenix 7/25/2008

Its the best chicken tikka masala I have eaten any where and has good selection of beer . Most indian resturant do not have good selection of beer. If you like spicy food and beer I highly recomend it by the way naans are good too. more

Good food and service, needs some upkeep 5/4/2008

My friends and I have enjoyed everything we've eaten at Taste of India. Love their garlic naan, and their lamb boti saag. The complimentary papadum with a mint condiment are delicious and a nice extra. The service was very attentive, if not cheery. The only negative is cleanliness - visible dirt on tablecloth, blinds, wall. Some sprucing up and regular upkeep would make a big difference, bringing the ambience up to the level of the food. more

Taste of India no more 2/18/2008

If you thought the chef was gone before, he is definatly gone now, along with the original owner/manager. The food is all different, from the naans to the cinnamon iced tea, nothing tasts like it use to. The service has also dropped, and that is not a small issue since the service at this place was always marginal. It is way off the mark now. I have been going to this place for around 10 years, I see no reason to ever go there again. Pros: Location if you live in the area Cons: Food and service, thumbs down more

Very pleasant hostess 9/22/2007

We were looking for Indian food. My wife can't eat wheat products and Indian food meets that need. I did a search for locations near where we live and this one came up. As we drove to the location I read some of the reviews on my Treo. Some were so negative we almost drove away. I'm glad we didn't. The service was polite, quick, pleasant and professional. The hostess made a point of bringing lentil flour crackers as an appetizer for my wife. The food was prepared quickly and was very good with all the spice and zest we've come to expect from an Indian restaurant. Again, the help was polite and helpful. Another party came in as we were leaving and they were greated by the hostess like old friends. Pros: Clean restroom more

Love this place, make reservations for large parties! Great beers on tape 8/22/2007

I have known the owners for the past 10yrs they are friendly and accommadating to your needs. Unlike other restaurants, they use fresh produce and the food is cooked freshly each morning. They have a very clean establishment and is serviced for any insects every month by a licensed pest control company. They never pass any racial remarks infact it's the other way round. Customers think THEY have the right to insult the staff and treat them like servants in India! Another thing is people never know which restaurant they dine in. They get confused with the other restaurants with similar names! They try to get to know you but the customer nev er tries to get know the owners or their staff! Also unlike other restaurants they have Indian staff and an Indian COOK! Most restaurants in Phx have Mexican chefs! Unfortunately, East Indian customers are their own worst enemy. They never leave a tip and they also demand free food or discount. One night I was there, the owner asked a young guy for his ID for alcohol and he really got mad because he was asked for an ID off. It was her right to ask and he was making an issue out of it. When he finally gave her the ID he threw it across the table, and then the owner, and rightly so asked them to leave. What right do we have as customers to insult the owner? I would highly recommend this place. It all depends on the attitude of the customer when he/she walks into the restaurant. more

Once the best; now one of the worst 7/10/2007

They must have hired a new chef because this restaurant was the best Indian restaurant in Phoenix. I dined there a year ago and I couldn't believe how horrible the food was. It was as if they completely transformed. The chicken tikka masala was very watery and tasted like they poured milk in it. The palak paneer was runny. The naans were tiny and to top it off the service was bad. They are very arrogant and are finally developing a reputation for being arrogant when in the past people forgave it because the food was good. If the owners are reading this, please fire your chef and hire the previous guy. Pros: nothing Cons: Bad Service, Expensive, Bad Food, Arrogant Owners more

Average tasting food and limited selection 5/20/2006

We went for the lunch buffet and were somewhat disappointed. There were only 3 meat items and 3 veg items on the buffet. Nothing tasted bad but nothing stood out as great either. Nothing had any spice (pepper) to speak of. Service and ambience were fine for a lunch buffet. Cons: Low variety, Bland more

Service was not good 5/3/2006

The resaturant had good ambience but the service sucks. They don't know how to speak to customer. more

We liked it but the service seemed Off 3/28/2006

Maybe we caught them on an odd night but the service seemed slow and inconsistent. The food was great and they let us pick the level of spiceyness. The price was good too. We will give them another try. Pros: Pick your spiciness, Inexpensive Cons: Slow service more

always delicious indian food 9/28/2002

I've enjoyed going to Taste of India since I was first introduced to it almost ten years ago. From the tandoori chicken to the various tandoori breads and many vegetable, meat, chicken and seafood entrees, my experience has always been very delicious! I highly recommend them as an Indian resturaunt. the ambiance could be better, but I have not yet been anywhere with better Indian food. more
