Best

Can only comment on apps and on the beer as that is what we went for. The beer menu was great and the choices of finger foods in the bar was great.

Worst

Two words: cheap sushi. Not great sushi, but you can't beat the price -- about two bucks per platter. Their other happy hour prices aren't bad either. When they get crowded, expec...

can't go wrong with beer and food 2/25/2003

This place is pretty great. I noticed quite a few so-so comments here but decided to go anyway and see what it was like. At the very least, I figured they'd have some beer, and some food to go with it. And I was right! Really, very right. There was lots of food, and lots of beer, and the place is really shiny and spiffy and fun. Try their beer samplers - you get 4 6-oz. beers for $10. My food was good, my friends' food looked good, the service was great. And yeah, the place might be filled with yuppies. But c'mon! This IS Bellevue we're talking about :) Pros: variety, atmosphere, close parking Cons: a little pricey more

Like The Cheesecake Brewery 2/18/2003

Um, seems a little like the cheesecake factory for atmosphere. Food and service was solid. More beer on tap than they could possibly sell (100's), so I wonder how it stays fresh, but hey, they have some hard to find stuff. Pros: selection Cons: standard atmosphere more

The Worst Service and Weird Food 2/16/2003

Our waiter only came every half hour (sometimes we had to send another waiter to find ours) even though the place was stark empty (we went at an off-hour). The food was mediocre. The pineapple dessert with the chili-chocolate mousse was shocking and disgusting. Cons: Service, Food, Service more

Surprisingly Good 2/13/2003

This isn't exactly the most uniquely decorated place, but for Bellevue, it's on the ""sophisticated"" side, which makes it an attractive option for now. Surrounded by charmless chains like California Pizza Kitchen and Hooters, not to mention a few Starbucks, it is worth trying out if you want something new. While prices are not exactly low, it is ""good value"" in the sense that you are well fed (read: largish portions) with lots of tasty options. The sushi, for a non-sushi place, is also extremely high-quality. Also, the beer menu is a microbrew snob's dream! Pros: new to the area, high-quality food, specialty beers Cons: big, planning a chain! more

never go again! 1/27/2003

if you only want beer and no food, it's the place. long wait, bad service, our server got 2 orders wrong with a party of nine. Cons: crowded, bad service more

150 Mediocre Beers and 10 Good Ones 1/10/2003

We greatly anticipated the opening of the Taphouse, expecting that we would at last be able to taste the great brews of the world without ever leaving town. What a disappointment! The vast majority of their brews are the same west coast micro brews that you can find in most any Seattle area bar. The few imports they have are also common (such as Guiness). The only UK bitter they had was Fullers, the cheapest and worst quality mass market bitter that London has to offer. Since their food is pricey compared to other brewpubs and the vareity of their brews is no better that other brewpubs (despite having 10 times the number of brews), save money and go to Redhook, Pyramid, Pike Place, etc. Pros: decor is okay Cons: slow serice, overpriced food more

Go Anywhere But Here 1/2/2003

I have been to many bars and restaurants in WA and the Taphouse has to be THE WORST when it comes to service. It took almost an hour to be served drinks in a non-crowded bar. Our first waitress told us she would pass our order to another and never did. When we asked what happened 20 minutes later she was put out and said she forgot but as a favor she would go put the order in. It still took another 30 minutes to finally see our drinks. The new waitress was no better as she forgot part of our food order, which we cancelled. As the happy hour prices while good, don't taste all that great. The beer selection is amazing, but those who were smart and ordered from the bartender found they were out of the first 3 beers requested. Stay clear of this disaster. Cons: Horrible Service, Rude Waitstaff, Sub Par Food more

Very Poor Service 12/31/2002

The new Taphouse Grill looked really cheerful and cozy on a rainy winter day, so we decided to give it a try. One waitress was working the entire bar area with no help from Manager, Bussers or Bartender who were standing around trying to look busy. It took 45 minutes to get first beverage and our appetizer order taken. Another 45 minutes, the food arrived ice cold and very unappetizing looking. The waitress then avoided us, and I had to stand at the kitchen opening to take food back. We left and will never return. We then went to Ztejas across the street and got our beers in less than 5 minutes, and our appetizers within 10. The staff were happy for our business - much rather spend my money there. Just too many other restaurant options - why waste your time and money on poor food and service? Pros: Nice Decor Cons: Poor Service, Cold Food, Long Waits more

Saphouse 12/19/2002

Hands down one of the worst experiences I've had to date. First, you'd be surprised this place is a bar and not a coffee house by all the phony wannabe yuppies you'll find hanging out inside. Second, the food was absolutely atrocious. The fish and chips smelled like the Pike Market Place...a little on the strong side. Lastly, upon tipping only 10% due to the obnoxiously long wait for our ""too good to be a waitress"", waitress, she sneered at us and asked what was wrong....she even proceeded to refuse to give us validation stamps for our parking as the ticket was left in the car. I had to walk back to the garage, in the cold, get the ticket out of my car and return to the ""bar"" for lil' miss haugty to ahere the validation stickers. In all the place is terrible, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME! Cons: poor service, bad food, beer out-of-stocks more

rename to OUTHOUSE grill 12/15/2002

give me a break. 20 minutes to get a barwench to take our order. 40 minutes to get 2 tap beers. and the topper...""sorry guys, I've been working a 12 hour day"" and that's my problem HOW?? don't waste your time or money. Pros: HA!, you kidding?, NONE Cons: service, service, menu - all healthy more

Posing in Bellevue 12/5/2002

The Tap House has super fake, wanna be uptown crowd. I went there after work one night and it took them over 20 minutes to come to my table. For a place that takes such a great effort to serve beer, you'd think they'd serve frosted glasses! Oh, and how about a $10 and up martini's? The Tap House is nothing but mediocre. more

I'm hooked 12/2/2002

Great atmosphere, cheap sushi and 160 beers! What's not to love? This is a one-of-a-kind on the Eastside. The beers can be spendy though, be careful (no prices on menu). Pros: 160 beers on tap, Cheap Sushi, Easy parking Cons: Some at $7 each, Menu overpriced more

cheap happy hour eats 11/21/2002

Two words: cheap sushi. Not great sushi, but you can't beat the price -- about two bucks per platter. Their other happy hour prices aren't bad either. When they get crowded, expect a wait on drink service; they're new, so they may just be understaffed. The decor is disjointed -- Tap House Grill sounds more like a pub, but the interior is decorated like it's trying to be some trendy Belltown joint. Nice try. As a result you get a strange mix of people expecting a low-key, casual pub and yuppies with their poser second-hand Beamers. Pros: happy hour specials Cons: understaffed, boring menu, disjointed decor more

incredible beer selection 11/19/2002

This place has the best beer selection I have even heard about. Food is ok. From 6-8 the bar is incredibly crowded. more

Overpriced Mediocrity 11/6/2002

Crowded. Loud. Expensive. $4.50 for a pint? Who are they kidding. It's almost worth driving to Seattle or other parts and finding a McMenamin's and getting better, fresher beer at half the price, especially at happy hour. Or better yet, going to Northwest Brewerks in Totem Lake and picking up a growler for $7. Good for the cool ""wannabe's"" who feel this type of joint is ""fun"". What the Eastside, and Bellevue in partiular, needs is a true watering hole serving the fine beers of the Northwest at reasonable prices in a non-smoking atmosphere. Hint: European beers don't taste like this. They're better, cleaner, and fresher. Musta been the boat ride. Cons: $$ beer, $$ beer, $$ beer more

Cheapest Chopsticks EVER! 10/28/2002

I am appalled at the CHEAP chopsticks provided at the Tap House Grill. The rolls were surprisingly good, but I have never seen so many splinters on a pair of chopsticks in my life. Thought for sure I'd end up with splinters on my tongue. Too bad, cause I like it there...great atmosphere for the eastside. Good food and service was great. Just puh-leeze....upgrade the chopsticks. Pros: Great atmosphere, Friendly staff/servic Cons: Cheap chopsticks, Can be smoky/loud more

they don't know their own beer 10/17/2002

For a place that advertises 160 beers on tap, you'd think that the staff would be somewhat trained on what to recommend; no such luck. $4 for a glass is about 25% more than I'm used to spending for beer, so at least have a knowledgeable staff selling it! Pros: great variety Cons: $$$$, untrained wait staff more

This place is a SCAM!! 10/7/2002

Good news: food tastes good. Bad news: Happy hour; half size portions for half the price! Are we idiots? This place is a superior rip-off. 160 beers on tap? Yeah right. I was excited to visit this place, I am a huge beer fan, especially beers on tap from around the world. But 4 4-ounce samples for $9.50? Thats only 16 oz! $4.50 for a pint!! I figured that was the price for such a wide selection. So two of us ordered 2 samplers, 8 different beers. The foreign beers, the good stuff. Server comes back, sorry, we only have one of the eight!! I say, how about this one? Nope. This one? Sorry. I thought after this they would let us try a ""honor society beer"" as a sample..she laughed. They had ONLY ONE good beer that wasn't local. So we had locals, Mac&Jacks, Pyramid, for 25% higher prices. Pros: Nice place., Food tasted good. Cons: Scam, pricey., No 160 beer selection, Waitress stupid more

So Many Beers, So Little Time 9/19/2002

Fun new joint with 160 beers on tap (the waiter showed me the keg room! Insane!) + a full bar. The beers are nicely presented on a catagorized menu; many great local micros as well as all the majors. Great food ranging from simple and inexpensive bar food (chili, burgers, swiches) to a $25 filet. Service has consistently been very pleasant and quick; although they don't always know their beers. Somewhat crowded and fairly smoky bar, but very nice and not smoky dining area. Pros: beer selection, full bar, great food Cons: lil' high-maintenance, smoky bar, parking at Galleria more

Not worth it 9/9/2002

Before a movie Friday night we tried the Taphouse Grill. We were told that there would be about a 20 minute wait. We waited and waited and waited. There was a good number of people in the restaurant but it was not packed. I looked around and saw at least three open tables ready for seating. What we were waiting for i don't know. Finally we were seated and ordered a Mojito and a Watermelon Martini. Both drinks were horrible! We then ordered the Spicy Jambalaya Pasta and the Chili with cornbread. The Jambalya was not spicy and not especially tasty and the Chili was just ok. The cornbread did not even taste like cornbread. And to top it all off this place is way overpriced. Next time we hit the Galleria for a movie we will steer clear of the Taphouse Grill. Pros: Decor, Location to Movies Cons: Expensive, long wait, food just ok more
