Charbel is great. I've been getting my haircut by him for the past 6 years and now wouldn't get cut by anyone else. This hidden gem is the best salon in Boston! They carry and work with Aveda products, though not exclusively, so you have your pick. Niki is not a hairdresser nor a stylist - she is an artist. It sounds kind of unbelievable, but it is the honest truth. I am a young professional woman, I care about my appearance and have always looked for the best for my hair. I thought my hair was too fine, too limp to look full or shiny without tons of product... until I met Niki. It was all in the cut and they even taught me a few tricks with Aveda products that I was unaware of (after using Aveda products exclusively for the past ten years I am usually the one to be teaching the tricks). I love my hair and have received so many compliments. I also recently sent a male co-worker to Niki for a haircut and he looks so much better! He has received a ton of compliments on his new hair. I also went to Niki Salon recently for a manicure. Also the best manicure ever. I got a French one and it lasted for over a week! It looked amazing and everything was so clean and sterile. I usually only get a paint job because the whole cleanliness thing kinds of worries me, but when I saw their setup I knew it was going to be great and it was! Thank you, Niki!! more

Nikki at Nikki?s South Street Salon rescued me, yet again, today. In 1 hour, she had my hair exquisitely colored and shining with an excellent cut. This may sound relatively simple for an excellent hair stylist, however, the reality is that I had cut my own hair a few days ago and it was disastrous!! Nikki somehow was able to repair the damage that I had done AND make it look fabulous! Thank you, again & again, Nikki. I will be back soon (but not too soon as I know from experience how long your superb cuts last) :-) more

I have been going to the same barber in my home town for the last 6 years and never thought that I would change. However, a new job, a new schedule, and a new home address made getting to my usual place nearly impossible. Luckily, after a few disappointing tries, I have finally found a place that exceeds my expectations in every way. Niki's is without a doubt the greatest salon that I have ever been to. The service is amazing. The quality is second to none, and the results speak for themselves. Each and every time that I walk out of Niki's I know that I look better than when I walked in. I constantly move because of the type of job I have. It?s always been a struggle for me to find a hair dresser that knows how to cut my hair. If the person cutting my hair does not consider the shape of my head and face, I would usually end-up looking like Forrest Gump and that would mean staying indoors for the next couple of days. Last month, I bumped into Niki?s Salon when I was having lunch across the street. I had her cut my hair and was very pleased with her work. I was actually smiling and was very happy of the outcome of my haircut. She is heaven sent to me. A month after, I came back for another haircut just to make sure her work is consistent. Sure enough she made me happy again. I could see myself as a regular customer now as long as I get to keep my job here in Boston. I highly recommend her. I stumbled across Niki a couple of years ago while looking for a new stylist. Needless to say, I wouldn't go anywhere else to have my hair cut (and colored). Recently I mentioned to Niki that I was frustrated by my hair during humid weather - and she suggested straightening my hair. I decided to give it a try (even though I always thought of my hair as being straight) - and it was the BEST thing I've ever had done! My hair has never been so soft, shiny and manageable - even in the incredible humidity. (The humidity is 89 percent as I am writing this.) As far as I am concerned, Niki is not only a great stylist, she is also an artist! more

I had been looking for a great hair cut for over 5 years...and after getting a bunch of mediocre to lousy ones i finally googled ""Best Hair Cut in Boston"" a while back. Charles Maksou's name popped up and I tried him -- it was the single best salon experience of my life! He can now be found at this salon and I enthusiastically encourage you to head over there. I just went it and like my new cut so much I was inspired to write a review. I'm in my early 30s and have worn my hair curly and straight, long and short, over the years Charles has cut it -- and I've literally loved every new style he's given me. I've sent my mom (60+ short hair) to him, and various friends (from hair that is curly/frizzy to an Asian friend with long straight locks). Charles is such an artist that he expertly handles all hair and any styles. I've seen him cut men, too -- including one who (on my last visit) walked in with a long-ish mess which Charles cleaned up and left this man looking way cuter when he walked out than when he walked in. :) Charles uses this New York ""dry cut"" method which follows the natural shape of your head...so that he perfectly matches your style to you, personally. He's an amazing listener and gives such a boost of confidence -- by bringing out your best -- to anyone who sits in his chair. I couldn't recommend him highly enough -- he's helped me love my hair. No small feat! Pros: You feel like a rockstar walking out; boost of confidence and great new locks that always get compliments Cons: Because he's popular sometimes you have to wait 15-20 minutes, but there's coffee/magazines, make-up samples, etc more

Best haircut I ever had. I went for a walk in and I was quite impressed with how maticulously the cut was done. The lady who cut my hair took her time and paid a lot of attention to the style I was describing. For once I walked out of a salon not thinking my hair ended up too short. I have just moved into this neighbourhood and I can honestly say that Nikki gave me the best hair colour and blowout I have ever had. She is extremly professional and takes her time and gives your hair lots of love!! My hair is looking the best it ever as or ever will for that matter! I've been a loyal customer of Niki's for almost five years now. When I came to her the first time, I was coming with a ""I hate my hair and always will"" perspective. I have thin, bodyless hair and have always detested it. Niki changed all that and now I get compliments on my hair from complete strangers. Niki give THE BEST BOB cut in all of Boston. She understand geometry and cuts your hair to look good with the shape of your face. Not only that, my hair looks great when I leave and it stays looking great for a long time afterwards - her cuts last forever and retain their shape. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my hair.
