This is actually a Korean restaurant - I guess they changed from Kimchee House to Takamatsu to try and capitalize on the Japanese theme. 4/3/2007

This is actually a Korean restaurant - I guess they changed from Kimchee House to Takamatsu to try and capitalize on the Japanese theme. The Korean food, like marinated short ribs is ok. The sushi was not fresh and the terri-yaki dishes were sub-par. Service was spotty. If you want Korean food this might be worth a stop, otherwise if you are looking for good Japanese food go elsewhere. Pros: Korean entrees Cons: Japanese entrees more

Extra charges without notice 7/14/2006

My sisters and I have been going to Takamatsu for over 5 years and it has always been a favorite. We would go almost every week and order tons of food (bill was always at least $50.00-$100.00 depending on who was with us). The last few times we have been there the service hasn't been very good. We really felt like they were annoyed that we would even bother them. The very last time we were there they charged us for extra sides which they have never done before. It would have been fine if they would have at least told us ahead of time but we didn't know until we went to pay our bill. When we questioned them they just said that it was too expensive to give extras because of (of all things) the expensive to have their garbage picked up. I was very offended and a little sad that we would be treated like that since we have been going there for so long and really considered it our favorite restaurant. Now, I am searching for a new Korean restaurant to give my business to since I will never go back to Takamatsu. Pros: Food was usually good Cons: Service and Management more

Great Philadelphia Rolls! 10/16/2005

I'm still in the ""experimenting new foods"" mode and my friend suggested sushi from this restaurant. I LOVED IT!! My favorite is the Philadelphia Rolls. The Salmon was so fresh..and to make things better it is just a couple of minutes from my work! I know where I'll be going for lunch :) Pros: Quite Atmosphere, Clean, Fresh Food Cons: N/A more

GREAT FOOD 7/11/2004

THIS WAS A FUN AND ENJOYABLE DINING EXPERIENCE. WE HAD BEEF RIBS THAT ARE SERVED OFF THE BONE AND VERY TENDER AND FLAVORFUL. YOU CAN COOK THEM YOURSELF AT YOUR OWN PRIVATE TABLE TOP GRILL OR LET THEM COOK FOR YOU. SINCE IT WAS A HOT EVENING IN PHOENIX WE DECIDED TO LET THEM COOK IT. IT ALSO COMES WITH MANY DELICIOUS SIDE DISHES, SOUP, AND A DESSERT DRINK. THE PRICES WERE VERY REASONABLE AND THE SUSHI WAS VERY GOOD ALSO. WE WILL DEFINATELY GO BACK! Pros: GREAT PRICES, NICE STAFF, SERVED FOOD QUICKLY more

A dining must in Phoenix 12/28/2002

After being stationed in Korea in 1992 I came home to find Kimcee House, now Resturant Takamatsu and have found Korea in my backyard here in Phoenix. Even after another tour in 1995-96 I could not wait to return home but knew I would be able to continue eating the pleasures of Korea. This is a must dining experience. Lunches are great too! more
