This is a awesome place to go if you want great sushi at awesome prices. This is not however the place to go if you are a snob or generally a pain in the butt to deal with in a restraunt! Awesome food, great people watching! more

Good food, absolutely horrible service 5/5/2005

My wife and I went to the Takahashi on April,29th at 5:30pm.The sushi bar was busy but otherwise there were four other tables occupied. The food was good and the sushi was very good but, and this is a very big but, the service was just horrible. The service was bad enough for me to warrant not going back. It took 5-10 minutes before a waitress came to our table to take our order, then it took a few minutes just to get a diet coke. My wife got her food first and I had to wait another 5 minutes before I got my food. That type of service is unacceptable in a busy restaurant let along an empty one. Great Sushi 12/2/2004

Takahashi is a great sushi spot. It was my first sushi, and stands out among the best. If you're looking for the typical rolls, you may be dissapointed (my girlfriend didn't get the typical roll she was expecting). Make sure you try the Red Snapper (write it in on the sushi menu), fantastic! The tempura is also great. more

Not Authentic! 8/22/2003

This place uses yakisoba noodles and button mushrooms in their sukiyaki which is just plain unacceptable. The sushi is good. Tempura is really good. The little dishes that come out before your entree meal are great! Prices are very reasonable. Overall, good value. Just don't order the sukiyaki! Pros: tempura, pre meal appetizers! It's a good japanese restaurant. The sushi was good, and the tempura was also very good. They claim to have the best Ramen in town and I don't agree (Toshi's restaurant has the best I've tried so far). Their Udon was also ok (not great, but not bad). I'd definitely go back, especially for the tempura. Pros: tempura ala carte Cons: service "iffy" more

Good sushi 8/30/2002

This was a good place for Sushi and Tempura. Good atmosphere and service. No waiting involved on a Friday night - which is perfect since we have kids. We did make reservations though. Food came out pretty quickly even with the restaurant 90% filled. more

Simply The Best 8/20/2002

The Takahashi on Holgate is without a doubt the best. It is my Cheers. I've been going there since 95' and have yet to be disappointed. The service is great, the food and portions are incredible, and the owner/chef is magnificient. The atmosphere is comfortable and quaintly Japanese. The specials on Wed, Sat & Sun are well worth the wait. The customer make-up is eclectic and makes for great people watching.
