My Own Experience 1/23/2009

I am currently in the Acupuncture program. The entrance requirements have changed as of the class who entered in Sept 2008, and all the bioscience you need (including Anatomy) is included in the program. You definitely need a US college degree first or the equivalent, duly certified, due to accreditation requirements. The program is full-time at 2 1/2 days a week; keep in mind there is work to be done outside of the class days such as point location labs, partnering, and taking pulses, and lots of homework, both practical hands-on stuff as well as reading/writing/researching. This makes it challenging to have a job outside the program but most people have one, and most of us are tired. The library is very small and very good, as they focus on the books that are relevant to the programs being offered at the school. The staff at the school are very helpful and friendly, and the feeling of community is VERY strong. Be ready to transform if you undertake this program. You may find that you change so much that you begin to move away from established roles and relationships, and yet you will find that this is because it serves you very well to do so. Be ready, as it will rock your world. I agree with the other reviewer - it is an expensive program and you should be committed to becoming an acupuncturist, with all your heart, before starting this program. This is not just something to do because you can't find another job. It is a calling. That's my own experience, in any case. Good luck! more

HIgh Cost, No Assistance 9/25/2005

Tai Sophia definitely has the market cornered in Acupuncture training. There is no other school in the area available. That being, the entrance requirements are extensive, including a Bachelor's Degree, Anatomy, bodywork, etc., etc. Including that, tuition keeps rising every year, making this one of the most expensive private schools you can go to, because tuition assistance is nearly non-existent. They do have a beautiful building. Just make sure you are completely committed to becoming an acupuncturist before starting here, and then check out other schools in the country if it's possible for you to relocate. more
