Sweetwater's Bar, Grill & Lounge

Too bad there isn't a negative star to click on....a group of us went there on February 18...bad bad choice. We were seated at a table and had to wait for the waitress to take our order....it wasn't busy.....then, as we waited, we see a woman TRULY combing her weave in the middle of the place. When the waitress arrived with SOME of the orders, we were waiting for a ""just kidding"". I ordered chicken fingers....i received a chicken FINGER cut up into slices. Another person ordered a chicken club...but instead received a chicken flub...with cheese that looked like it came from the plastic wrap and the chicken was breaded....and hello, you DON'T put American Cheese on a chicken club. The bread on the sandwich was a cheap dinner roll....AFTER they said they had only white bread. My poor friend never received her drink...and was the last person to get her food. The waitress never came over to check on us or our orders...and the Security guard stared me down like I was that's night's dinner....which I know would have been better than what we ate. We will never go there again. You'd be better off going to Bruckner Bar which is a few blocks away and destroys THIS place with better pricing, a variety of food, ambiance and service. No wonder the Bruckner is always packed.....I'd rather wait for a table then go here. more

Had a great time with the girls!!! Latin night was kicking, food was great and the dance lessons were fun. Guess it was my lucking night, met some nice guys who bought us girls drinks! Can't wait for this Thurs hoping it will repeat!!! Loved it :) more

I had a gathering here and the establishment really couldn't handle our party. I tried to give this place a shot again, and drove there for dinner. My fault! We were told we couldn't come into eat because we had on sneakers. Yet, 3 people came out to smoke cigarettes, all wearing sneakers, and one woman didn't even have on socks. Poor customer service all around. more

My suggestion is that you not visit this place and go to other establishments in the Bronx such as Bruckner Bar & Grill down the block, GBar, Z'Novia's, or the Gallery Lounge. \r \r You could also try going to Harlem which has an abundance of restaurants that are way better. I ended up at Native, but there is the Den, Moca, Shrine, and a host of many other hot spots!\r \r I invited a bunch of friends throughout the city to visit Sweetwater's and support a black owned establishment. My party had to wait an hour to be serviced, and it took another hour to receive the orders which came out cold. Even people who ordered drinks had to wait for the servers to come from the corner store to stock up their liquor supply. I attributed these issues to Sweetwater's possibly not being used to large crowds.\r \r So I tried again... This time I was stopped at the door and told that because I had on sneakers (I never changed back into my pumps after driving to this establishment), I could not come into eat. Really? At a restaurant?! I am an avid restaurant goer and have NEVER been told I can not come in and eat somewhere because of my footwear. I was dressed properly and had three other friends with me. \r \r Needless to say I will not be going back there. Sweetwater's managmenet (who I believe are the same people giving this place rave reviews on Citysearch) has mistaken ""bringing SoHo to SoBro"" with being discriminatory. The problem with Sweetwater's is that once you have one of their drinks every drink you have anywhere else tastes like it is watered down, seriously!! Marcus makes fabulous drinks...my special favorite is the Sweetwater's Special and the Rumrunner. However, don't blame me if you are spoiled forever and have to keep coming back to Sweetwater's for their great drinky, drinkies, lol!! Marvin has done a great job with this place. I remember when the place used to hold only 25-30 people but since he expanded the place there is plenty of room to party and have a girls' night out with your friends. The place is now spacious but cozy and elegant at the same time. This has definitely become my favorite place to hangout. Oh, did I mention that they have a live band every Thursday and the owner does not even charge at the door? Thank you, Marvin, for giving so much to the community and the customers of Sweetwater's. I tell everyone I know about this place - that's how much I enjoy hanging out at Sweetwater's. Thanks again for bringing a ""Little SoHo to the SoBro."" I was fortunate enough to meet Marvin, the owner of Sweetwater's Bar, Grill & Lounge in the Bronx . At the time, the ridiculously cool lounge was just days from being finished and from the grand opening!!! I was squealing with delight as Marvin showed me all the rooms, levels, VIP areas of this truly amazing lounge!!! If you live anywhere in uptown Manhattan or in the Bronx, there is no better place to go...period!! This place is HOT!!!!!!! It stays open super late on the weekends and they provide royalty treatment. The lounge is not only gporgeous but has an amazing layout with lots of open space but also with lots of hidden away private spaces...i LOVE it!!! The restaurant is awesome, too! Marcus is the bar tender and he and i became buddies on day one!! If you want great service, good food, and the hippest lounge in the Bronx....you must visit Sweetwater's and tell them Neely sent you!! ;-) Pros: Phenomenal lounge--Unbeatable Service--Coolest Spot in Bronx more

I had a friend recently move to the Bronx and we decided to try Sweetwaters because it was right around the corner from her place. SO glad we did! The food was amazing and the atmosphere was even better. Our quick dinner turned into an all night party at Sweetwaters. I will definitely be coming back here next time I go visit her! more

My friend Kim lives in the Bronx and every time I come visit her we go to Sweetwater's. The food is the best and it is so sophisticated!!! I love it!! They also make the best drinks! I highly recommend them!!!!!!!! more
