Hotel run by slum lords 4/6/2011

This should be renamed India House. It is run by San Francisco's infamous slum lords - the Patels. Don't patronize this establishment. As you can see by the honest reviews it's dirty, noisy and has bugs. Don't support people who take advantage of the poor of San Francisco. Today, one of their ""hotels"" had a fire because of debris everywhere and their lack of commitment to have operating sprinklers and fire alarms. Check out SFGOV in the Department of Building Inspections complaint system for Kinney Hotel - 410 Eddy and the blog - patelmonopoly.blogspot more

Worst hotel in my life 9/16/2009

- dirty sheets,\r -noisy. You hear everything because of thin door. The bathroom door slammed so loudly and they don't care about it!\r -expensive in comperrison with what I have for that moneyy. I can get much much better hotel with bathroom in my room for the same price!\r -no shelves or hangers in my room or bathrom. So I couldn't unpack!\r -Insects in my bed (my body itched all time when I lived there!)\r For more questions email me more

Best value in town! 10/5/2008

Place delivers a fine showing of old-fashioned hospitality from a nice older gentleman that's helpful, kind and attentive to your needs. He lives on site and treats the place like his own home. The office manager during the day is pretty easy going and professional at the same time. The most important thing is that they put together a hotel that is safe and absolutely cheap and affordable given its downtown location on the border of the Tenderloin. I come into the city and stay several weeks at a time for my work and they make it so easy to book online and reserve a spot with my credit card. Anybody who is looking for extended stay in San Francisco would find this place hard to beat in terms of safety, quality and PRICE!! BTW, their published number is wrong most of the time so go to their website instead. Pros: Room rates are hard to beat! Nice folks. Cons: Small rooms and shared bath. more

Pretty a Nightmare 8/25/2008

made reservation for 5 nights at Sweden House hotel (Agu. 16 to 21). However, after staying the first night I decided to run away. I must say that my stay in that hotel was pretty a nightmare, for the following reason:\r \r Dirty sheets and towels;\r Face hair in the wash basin of my room (it means that room wasn't clean before my arrival);\r Phone call to one Mr Bruce for opening the door upon my arrival since I got there on Saturday. Reception/Office working days are Monday to Friday (Unbelievable!!) - What if somebody has no cellphone?;\r Turning on the room light by a cord, which felt down when I tried to use it;\r Room very small (Appx 8*10);\r Wash basin very close to bed;\r Bad restroom conditions;\r Compared to hotel conditions rate was very high; At same rate I could get a specious room with attached bath and better amenities;\r Nobody was in for the check-out - I've been waiting for someone from 9:30am to 10:45am (in vain) along with anothe customer, who had to do check-out as well. We left them the key along with a message in their mail box;\r Matress, ladders or steps and other stuff in the corridors - very dangerous obstacles;\r least but not the last the area is also not safe.\r \r I have pictures to show what above listed. Who wants to look at, can just ask me for, my email is m.l.b@hotmail.it\r Seve from Milan, Italy \r \r P.S.: I would like to be contacted by the ones who gave a positive review on it Pros: located in downtown Cons: In: dirty place - out: area not safe more

Hidden Gem 7/17/2008

This place is great! It's in a kinda shady neighborhood but the place is really safe and secure. It was just remodeled so it looks great and is very clean. The employees are so nice and friendly. They're always there to help me with anything like when my computer isn't working properly or I need to check my flight status! There are also so many good places to eat with in walking distance! and it's hecka cheap!! Pros: cheap, clean, safe Cons: in the tenderloin more

Poorly managed dive 6/28/2007

The initial allure was the low price and having WIFI. \r \r Well the price is low, but the WIFI doesn't work well, making it impossible for VPN use, and the manager has no idea how to get it fixed, more importantly, he doesn't care unless his own isn't working (there are 3 rather slow AT&T DSL lines). His line isn't accessible by other tenenats...\r \r The bathrooms are dirty and stink. The owner even mentioned that someone had defacated in the shower and that it shouldn't happen again...\r \r Overall it's pretty dirty, and poorly managed place, and not so surprisingly, the manager appears to wish he were elsewhere.\r \r Wait until they change management and straighten out the WIFI, then it might be acceptable as a divey flophouse\r \r They also issue check out confirmation letters under the doors that state that your room will not be available after a certain date, then they issue another which reverses it, then you'll see it advertised on craigslist for a few dollars more for the period you're supposed to leave., which you could readily book...\r \r Age ole bad management technique, they would do well to remember that it's much easier to retain a customer then get a new one... Pros: Cheap Cons: Management, spotty WIFI, dirty more

Cheap, clean, quiet, convenient. 1/13/2007

Sweden House is a diamond in the rough. Really nice building. Shared baths are a downer, but the building is really quiet and well managed. Cable TV, high speed internet, and fully furnished. The fact that it is <200 bucks a week is huge. Its <5 minutes to Union Square and SF Center, cable cars, muni lines (38 right out door).\r \r Its still a transitional neighborhood (read = wierdos out the front door), but that is cool because it feels very very safe.\r \r Anyway, can't go wrong if your single. Pros: location, quiet, wifi, cable tv Cons: shared bathrooms more
