Sunflower Markets caters to those who want to eat well, but on a budget. This grocery store has fantastic deals on produce, and if you shop on Wednesdays, you can double your savings by getting the specials for both weekly flyers. There is a good selection of produce, lots of natural/healthy foods, a good natural living section (soap, vitamins, hair care products, etcetera), bulk foods, and a well stocked liquor section. The store is clean, the staff is friendly, and they've been around long enough now to have worked out some of their initial kinks. But really, the best part is the price on their produce.
Some things that they could stand to improve: the organic produce section tends to go bad quickly (I guess folks in Tempe who are looking for organic produce don't shop here!), they tend to run out of their specials after Wednesdays, sometimes it is difficult to get help in the bulk foods section (but it is always clean when I'm there!), and every time I've purchased their Sunflower brand of cheese, it gets mold on it within a few days. But in light of these complaints, it is still my favorite place to buy groceries.
Things to try: the Sunflower Honey Bread, olives from the olive bar, and the interesting selection of cookies/tea biscuits for under $1
Oh, and I forgot to mention that they offer a free cup of coffee in the mornings while you shop.
