Best

I bought a used VW Passat there for $3300 and put about 25K miles on it with no problems. I was driving home from school the weekends 3 1/2 hours each way and never felt nervous ...

Worst

Went here as somewhat of a last resort to replace my fiance's car after having no luck at dealerships. We were unable to go to the public viewing so were unaware of the condition ...

Editorial review from Citysearch 1/22/2014

TFisch84 review and the other negative review might be accurate BUT it's an auction and buyer beware! TFisch84 admittedly came late and could not check the car out he purchase and even when he found information about something wrong with the car they still purchased it. I have some fabulous swam land, sure it's great come on down. This guy must have just fell off the turnip truck. He's blaming everyone but himself for making bad decisions. The list of things wrong with the car he would of figured out had he got there on time and turned on the are and looked under it and the hood.\r \r Ultimately this is why you get a car at a dealer and get a warranty. It's a used machine and you have a greater chance of getting a lemon because usually a used car becomes a used car is because someone else had problems with it. Derrr more

You can find a good deal there 5/14/2011

I bought a used VW Passat there for $3300 and put about 25K miles on it with no problems. I was driving home from school the weekends 3 1/2 hours each way and never felt nervous about it breaking down. After graduating college, I bought a new car but drove the Passat to the dealership to trade it in--again, never had a problem with the used car and had it about a year and a half. more

Owner is a liar and a piece of trash 4/29/2011

Went here as somewhat of a last resort to replace my fiance's car after having no luck at dealerships. We were unable to go to the public viewing so were unaware of the condition of the vehicles they sell here. So we are waiting in the auction area, and a jeep comes through that looks decent enough. The tachometer display was no longer functioning correctly so the mileage was inaccurate, but she wanted to bid anyways. The owner assured us that the vehicle was in great condition, and said he had been driving it around for his own transportation for a month. She decided to bid on it and won. It was dark when we left the auction that night, so I was unable to see everything under the hood. The next morning, I pop the hood and find oil all over the sides and rear of the engine, and a trail leading to and covering the transmission housing. After closer inspection, I find there is oil in the radiator coolant, and coolant in the engine oil. This is the sign of a blown head gasket. Keep in mind, this is a very slow leak. A fast leak covering that much area would have drained most of the engine oil and it wouldn't run at all. We took it to a mechanic to find out what else is wrong with it and got an estimate of total cost for repairs which added up to $3900. That's more than she paid for the stupid jeep!!!!!!! We contacted the owner and he denied he sold us a vehicle with a blown head gasket, only to try and reverse it and say she blew it on the drive home. I'll include a list of things that were wrong with the vehicle BEFORE purchase, which we were not notified of upon sale. -Blown head gasket -Hole in radiator large enough to easily notice -Radiator power wire hooked under oxygen sensor fuse so it would still run -No airbag in steering wheel assembly -Fuel tank pushed forward from a rear collision which is causing it to rub on the rear stabilizer bar -Rear axle leak -Drive belt is cracked -large crack in the side of exhaust manifold -and lastly, an old dirty battery taken from some random vehicle other than the jeep I found the carfax for this vehicle after getting the estimate only to find out it has been in 2 different accidents. 1 in front and another in the back. I am under the impression this vehicle was totaled out by an insurance company and fixed by this jerkoff so he could make a quick buck off some poor unsuspecting person in need of a car. To sum all this up, DO NOT BUY from this idiot. He will rip you off the first chance he gets. We are currently talking to a lawyer to make him pay for some of the repairs or buy it back. I will not be going back to this place, because I don't want to be arrested for beating him to a bloody pulp. more

Run across some steals 4/23/2011

I've gotten my last few cars there and go just for fun a lot. I've done what the person below said and bid on a car when I wasn't planning to and didnt register, but you still have to pay the $25 when you get inside. So it's not like you pay more when you play by the rules. But there are a lot of cars that aren't worth buying, but there are also a lot of great cars too, especially in this bad economy. It's a lot of fun and high energy. I'd recommend going once to watch before you go to buy. And I'd take a mechanic with you as well. Like the people that work there told me, they don't own the cars so they don't know whats wrong with them, so it's best to bring somebody with you that does. I got one not too long ago for cheap that only needed a spark plug, so I put barely any money in it and now its perfect. This is where a lot of the dealers buy their cars, so I think of it as skipping the middle man. I don't know what's wrong with the people below or why they've had such bad experiences, but I have always enjoyed mine. Skip the middle man, save some money, and have fun doing it....Just don't bid against me! ha more

Buyer Beware 4/4/2011

This place has pretty much turned into a used car lot with salesman approaching you before the sale. I have bought several cars here but only one turned out to be a good car. When I bought those cars I had the chance to pull them forward and backwards to make sure they sounded okay. Many times you don't find the problem until the car gets hot. This last time we noticed many of the cars seemed to have something added to the oil. Also, they said we absolutely couldn't move the car. They do drive them through but that doesn't tell you if reverse has a problem. Also, many of the cars have a ""dead battery"" which means you can't crank it, you can't check to see if the windows work, etc. Pretty convenient if you aske me. The last thing I'll say is that every time I've gone, they announce that you can't bid without a bidder number so I've gone in like a good little girl and paid my $25.00 non-refundable fee, yet invariably someone ALWAYS ends of buying a car yet they didn't have a number. So I lose my 25.00 if I don't buy anything and those folks who are not playing by the rules don't lose anything. As long as Summerville Auto Auction gets the bid they want, they'll sell it to you! more

Summerville Auto Auction is a SCAM 11/19/2010

This place sucks! They have it rigged so that the general public cannot bid on any decent vehicles. The vehicles for auction to the peasants were mostly ones that should have been junked as far as I can see. What a waste of my time. more

Waste of Time! 11/14/2010

I went to the public auction with the hopes of finding a decent car. I walked around the lot to preview the cars. In fact, I found a nice one that I wanted to bid on, but an attendant shooed me away: that car was available ONLY FOR DEALERSHIPS. So, let me get this straight--they get the best price for their sellers by LIMITING WHO CAN BID ON CERTAIN CARS? I watched the auction with the hopes that there would be other cars in good shape that I had missed, but what I saw seemed to be cars that were TOO CRAPPY TO SELL on a used car dealers lot. It seemed like 99% of the cars for sale were from used car dealerships (apparently they couldn't sell them on their lots). This place is a good deal for used car dealers and NO ONE ELSE. For example, at the auction when a car dealer sells to another car dealer they offer a warranty. But, when an individual wins an auction there is NO WARRANTY. It just doesn't seem fair, does it? In my opinion the General public should NOT buy here--do NOT sell here either!! I saw a couple of people try to sell their personal vehicle and the bidding on neither of the cars reached the reserve price. Banks: I can't believe that you would allow an auction house to restrict the sale of your repos to only car dealerships!!! But that seems to be what's going on here!!!! Good Luck, you're going to need it. more

cars are junk, mananger is a liar, cocky and will sell anything with wheels, don't work for him he'll pay if he feels like it,even after a hard days work, treats employees bad, office help cocky & same 3/10/2008

The manager is barely running (if at all) a legal business). The cars are mostly very poor standard.Do not work for the man.If he decides to pay you,it'll depend on the mood he's in.He's very cocky & arrogant.Office help is the same way. He's running an underhanded business. Not paying for work is against the law.He has a God like attitude,so I guess he feels he can get away w/it. Cons: cold atmosphere,non-friendly more
