We came here on Valentine's day and it was not very romantic at all. Food was good, server was okay. more

To be honest I have had much better steaks, though the service was good and the beers ice cold. more

What a experience 1/6/2012

i had been traveling for 24 hours and was very hungry and new a glass of wine would also bring me back to life so my husband and I stopped into Sullivan's for a happy hour bite. We sat on the patio and enjoyed a Chardonnay and a couple of the tavern steaks. I thought the wine was wonderful but the steaks were not the quality i remember from the last time i was in, but our waitress Allison was Lovely! She made us feel like were like VIPs even though she had never taken care of us before! I will be back and i hope that she will be available to take care of us again! I had a very happy hour at Sullivan's! Savanna Gage more

Good Service, lousy food. 3/1/2011

Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. Our food was awful, ordered a steak medium, it came back charred on the outside and bloody on the inside. Had the wedge salad and that too was on old wilty lettuce. You do not get what you pay for... more

Terrific- don't listen to the haters! 2/8/2011

I have dined at Sullivan's at least seven times in the last two years. I've dined alone, with my wife and with a group. During that time, the service has been unfailingly excellent, the food superb and the overall experience delightful. I love to eat at top shelf steakhouses and in my mind, Sullivan's is one which is easily equal to Brooks', Del Frisco's or Morton's and less pricey. And, it's easily superior to Elway's or Shanahans. Don't buy the vitriol of some of these reviews, and very skeptical of their validity. If the service at "" Sully's"" is actually as bad as these haters claim, the place would close in a couple of months! (especially in this economy!) more

Overall, don't do it. 6/12/2010

At one time it was good. No longer. Granted, some of the staff has been very accommodating and professional. However, by some a bit too accommodating and distasteful. There have been times when the bartendress was plainly intoxicated beyond belief, and almost anything was for sale. You name it. Yes, a fact. OK, we are in a social setting, but no standards seem to apply. The husband and wife manager execute classless style and egomania. The reviews are mixed, and rightfully so. Sometimes it was, indeed, enjoyable. Mostly not. The food had its moments, although not many. Why gamble? Don't bother with Del Fresco's, either. Same team. Dreadful. Just a dive posing as a class act. It appears enticing, yet ultimately reveals its pedestrian and cheap thrill wannabe. You will be in for eminent disappointment. Don't take the chance, it's definitely NOT worth it! Pros: Downtown location Cons: management, other factors more

Great steak! 4/13/2010

I've only eaten here once, after several disappointing steaks in a row at other downtown steakhouses of the same price range. The service was great, the steak was beyond great. I had a 16oz NY strip, the first meat I had eaten in a long time, which I was mostly eating due to recent health issues. So delicious. I've had a lot of medium/medium rare NY strips in my days, and this was in the top 2. Pros: Good service, great steak Cons: Interior decor sort of boring more

Wonderful Valentine's Dinner! 2/18/2010

My husband and I don't usually go out for Valentine's Day -- the restaurants are just too crowded. But this year we decided to risk it and go to Sullivan's, and we are so glad we did! We did have to wait about 20 minutes past our reservation time (7:45) before we were seated, but that was to be expected given the holiday. The service was some of the best we've ever had, and the food was right up there as well. My husband is a red meat lover but I'm not, and it can be hard to make both of us happy at a steakhouse. Not so at Sullivan's . . . the sea bass was to die for! We met the new general manager, Jim, and he was very gracious. We were told the chef is new as well. These guys definitely know what they're doing! We'll be back! Pros: Top-Notch Service, Great Food more

Love this place 2/18/2010

love love LOVE this place. I am super picky, I only give five stars where it is deserved. I'm spoiled by a boyfriend who loves to eat as much as I do, so we go out to eat often. I've been to my fair share of restaurants and rarely write reviews, but I had to share with the world how great our experience was at Sullivan's Steakhouse!?As far as as I'm concerned the meat here is to DIE for!! The service was incredible. Our server was such a sweetheart, attentive and yet not intrusive (you know how it can be). ?We were there on a Thursday night which I guess is a happy hour special day that goes on all evening so the environment was really fun. Bar was absolutely packed and they had live jazz playing all night, SO fun.?I would recommend this place to anyone and plan on stopping in often. more

my experience at sullivan's steakhouse 2/18/2010

Being that I am a chef living in Denver, I feel like I can be a good judge of a restaurant. My wife and I stopped in to Sullivan's a couple years ago and it was ok, but when we stopped in a couple weeks ago I must admit I was blown away. The food was fantastic and the service was really unbeatable. Apparently they have a new chef who has only been there for a couple months and I must admit I was thoroughly impressed by him. He even came out to introduce himself and talk with my wife and I. They really know what they are doing here. So happy we gave Sulivan's another shot. I have a feeling we will become regulars here. more

Great Place 2/18/2010

My husband and I rarely get a chance to go out for a nice meal with two toddlers at home. A couple weeks ago we were able to grab a babysitter at the last minute and have a night for ourselves. ??We chose to go to Sullivan's after hearing several coworkers rave about it. We were both pleasantly surprised...good food, great service and cool environment.??The service was top notch. I can't say anything negative about them. They are attentive, polite, and efficient. Truly great staff. My husband and I hadn't made a reservation and it was a packed Friday night (oops) but the manager sat us almost immediately.??The food was superb. My steak was cooked to perfection. ??Bottom line, our experience at Sullivan's was great. No complaints. As soon as we can escape our madhouse again we will be dining here. Pros: everything more

Expected more for the price 1/15/2010

We spent an evening at Sullivan's on New Year's Eve. Given the occasion, we were seated within five minutes of arriving, which was nice. Server was friendly, but kept hitting on a party member. Our food took forever to get to our table, and when it did it was cool. It took three hours to get through five courses, which we were unable to finish. The portions were too large for a five course meal. I suppose if we were all obese this wouldn't be an issue, but for four healthy people it was simply too much. Pros: Filet was tender Cons: Portions too large, horrible wait between courses more

Simply the Best! 8/27/2009

I am not one to usually spend time writing a review, but after my last visit, I feel compelled to tell the world. In these tough times a lot of restaurants are changing their menus, offerring value and trying to keep people coming in the door. I went to Sullivan's with some girlfriends for drinks and dinner and we had great food, service and most importantly, HOSPITALITY. With the world of discounts and deals, the servers at most restaurants are watching their tips dwindle and it conveys in the service. Sullivan's really gets the most important thing in the restaurant, ME. We enjoyed some great steak and seafood on their ""Summer menu"" , but we were treated by the staff and management that we were spending $1,000 per person. Pros: Hospitality more

Steaks are terrible! 4/26/2009

we were seated late for our reservation, the oysters were not fresh, and the shrimp cocktail was mealy and overcooked. Our server was deternine,to sell us everything possible. Myi filet had so much fat is it that I left half on the plate, she never bothered to ask if anything was wrong. Even the ""manager"" Angie, who clearly doesn't care, stopped by to see how everything was. Gross. I will never go back. more

do yourself a favor, eat somewhere else 4/5/2009

From the dirty bar, dirty bathrooms, dirty glasses, dirty silverware, this place is just GROSS! I couldn't get out of there fast enough. And our server, Karen, appeared intoxicated, as she couldn't recite the specials without slurring. Nice. We enjoyed our stone crab and left to a place that knows how to clean. Pros: there are none Cons: this place is gross more

DELICIOUS and FUN! 3/5/2009

I love steak, and I don't think I've had a better, more melt in your mouth cut filet than I did at Sullivan's. The martinis are delicious, and the service couldn't have been better. Everyone was so friendly and smiley. I'm not originally from Denver, I'm from Arizona where steaks are everywhere. As I've noticed there are a lot of steak houses in the downtown area, but so far, by far Sullivan's has been the best experience and taste. I asked my server what they seasoned their meat with, and it's just salt and pepper! How do they get all of that flavor into the meat with just those two seasonings?? The wedge salad was super blue cheesey, and their bread was a perfect beginning to the meal. I highly recommend going to Sullivan's and trying their steak. I know that I'm going back!!!!! more

Best Steakhouse in Denver for sure! 1/27/2009

I have heard Sullivan's was a great place and decided to try it. Our experience was incredible and I cannot wait to go back. The highlights were the staff as a whole, the energy in the building and most importantly... the food! Our server talked with us for a while and I felt like she got to know us and from there on out she recommended things for us to try that fit us to a ""T"". They offered us Florida Stone Crab! I didn't know you could get those in Denver even though they are in season right now! They were delicious with the mustard sauce they served. We then had french onion soup to die for and a caesar salad. The bread was sourdough and was served as an entire loaf and HOT. My husband ordered the bone in ribeye that our server recommended and he was in heaven. She even suggested a gorgonzola garlic butter melted over top which he did. I had their special that night. Two filets wrapped in bacon with bearnaise sauce and a small lobster tail. Our sides were Augratin potatoes and their amazing green beans (crispy - yum). So many servers came over to clear things and bring us hot, wet napkins to clean our hands. They all were smiling and it was really hoppin in there. We spent a little bit of time in their bar after dinner and enjoyed the live jazz. We even ran into a few other young friends of my husbands that were there enjoying scotch at the bar and we all talked about when we are all going to dine there together. I HIGHLY recommend this steakhouse over any other in town. A fun time with a great staff and food that will leave you wanting to make another reservation on the spot. Pros: service, atmosphere, food Cons: no sullivan's located in Golden, CO more

A sure thing! 1/18/2009

So I have lived in Denver all my life and have had the pleasure of dining at some of the best restaurants the city has to offer. I have to say that Sullivan's is at the top of my list. I have been there several times before and it seems to get better every time I go. My date and I arrived 20 minutes before our reservation time and were greeted by a warm and inviting hostess who offered to seat us right away, but we decided to enjoy a drink at the bar first and listen to the live Jazz. When we were seated in the dining room we were greeted right away by a smiling and relaxed server who was engaging and seemed genuinely happy to see us there. The service is what sets Sullivan's apart from say...a Capitol Grille....The service is top notch without being stuffy. Our server made great reccomendations, he talked me in to the nights steak special even though I came in with my heart set on a Rib-eye. I knew he wasn't just trying to sell me because the steak special was 10 bucks less than the steak I had in mind! I ordered the Del Monico Scampi style and my date ordered the Bass, along with the servers recomendation of Aug Ratin potato's and sauteed spinach. The wine list is a bit intimidating at first but we settled on a bottle of Emerald Hills Cab after our server told us that the wine maker is a pilot from Colorado and Sullivan's is the only restaurant in Denver that carries it. (how did he know that?!) The food came out perfect and we enjoyed an equally perfect evening. In a day and age when servers seem to be more ""order takers"" than ""hosts"" and ""menu experts"" it is nice to find the exception to the rule. The managers were roaming the floor the whole night and one of them named Amber even came to our table and spent some time making us laugh and making sure everything was perfect. You usually only meet the managers when things go wrong, not this time. I almost forgot, do yourself a favor and try the knockout martini when you go. Pros: Service, Food Cons: none! more

Great Dining in Lodo!!! 1/15/2009

First let me say that I am the type of person who is first to complain when things are not perfect. I usually dine in Cherry Creek closer to my home and rarely get downtown to dine. A good friend of mine convinced me to go downtown and meet him at Sullivan's for drinks and dinner. My experience was no less than PERFECT. I was greeted by a valet attendant and went inside to find a lobby full of people. I walked past the hostess stand and into the lounge. LIVE MUSIC!! What a great surprise with most companies cutting back, there was still live music to enjoy on a Wednesday evening in January. I found my friend who managed a table and we enjoyed some martinis while catching up. We pushed our 6:30 reservation back so we could enjoy the full lounge with all the ""good looking"" people. Pros: Great Dining Spot Cons: Not in cherry Creek more

Overpromised, underperformed, overpriced! 1/1/2009

Had high expectations but they started us out being seated 45 minutes AFTER or 8:30 reservation time ... chased that with continually slow service and an undercooked filet that was 1/3 fat (mashed potatoes were OK) ... wife had crab-stuffed shrimp with crab suffing fine but shrimp rubbery/inedible. Sounds eerily familiar to review before this one which is also from December 2008 ... bad batch of meat? I won't be back to spot check. In any case the less-than-ordinary experience topped with high pricing left me wishing I had walked out before my 45 minute wait came to an end. Just another chain ... is this the old Bonanza Steakhouse reborn? more
