New Favorite Restaurant 12/23/2011

We had dinner at Sugo's last night and had the most incredible meal! The decor of the restaurant , the attentiveness of the wait staff and the food ( ahhhh the food) were all spectacular. There were four of us, each with a different dish, and there was not a morsel left on any of our plates. Favs were the euro mushrooms, meatball, bacon wrapped dates and Aunt Lena's Chicken. more

Great Meatball Dish 6/17/2011

Crowded on the inside but the menu makes up for it. Gwinnett County doesn't have many good restaurants. This is 5 star dining if you grade on a curve. Recommended more

Good 6/7/2011

Only been here once but will definitely go back and try something new. more

Great Dinning Experience not Just Good Food! 1/15/2011

ABSOLUTELY GREAT! 5/12/2010

THE FOOD WAS AMAZING! i loved it.. i ordered a good amount because high end italian restaurants just simply dont give much. But this!!! THIS!! is an ITALIAN/GREEK restaurant! The mixture not only brings a pungeant smell to the air but incredibly generous portions of great food Pros: Great Food!! Cons: umm..? too much food? i dont know more

Absolutely and totally in Love with this place 4/12/2010

Oh, I love this place. In my opinion, it is one of the best restaurants in GA- bar none. They have great food, very friendly staff, great drinks and lovely atmosphere. I usually take my family here for get-togethers and they have nothing but good things to say. Sugo is my favorite and I highly recommend trying it out. You will not be disappointed. Pros: Great food, drinks, atmosphere, staff more

Style at its finest 11/4/2009

Comfortable atmosphere, wait staff never tries to rush you. Pros: Food and wine pairings exceptionally chosen more

great atmosphere 11/2/2009

Having dined Sugo for years, I can't imagine a more affordable and great tasting meal. Without paying much more then you would for fast food, you can be filled up on their tapas and tasted the likes of calamari, chicken, bread and salad. I would highly recommend Sugo as a great date location with its amazing atmosphere, and the owners could not be more wonderful to meet. Pros: allows for a wonderful dinner out, even in these hard times more

Best italian atmosphere 11/2/2009

the food is great and the menu allows you to tailor to your exact tastes. Pros: Like cheers, everybody knows your name Cons: you smell like an italian afterwards! more

Passion for the food and the customers 2/18/2009

I am still marveling at the never miss when visiting Sugo. The dishes are excellent, ingredients fresh and preparations exciting. take your family, send your friends. Great for business wwith clients. If you are looking for the best of John's Creek in dining this is it. Owners are some of the best resturantuers I've met. Too many great plates to detail here.. JUST GO THERE! Pros: inventive ideas, superior food quality and portions Cons: you might over eat more

Romantic, great value dining in the suburbs 11/26/2008

This is a great place so don't let the suburbian location fool you. It is romantic, though somewhat loud when it's crowded. The food is great, I had the Pork Tenderloin Paladar which was perfectly cooked, moist and tender on the inside and crispy on the outside, perfectly paired with mozzarella and basil and fried, crispy artichokes. My husband had the fall special, Lamb Saltimbocca, which was excellent. Service is great, it is great value, they go that extra yard when you have a special occasion AND you will bring a ""to go box"" with you home. This place is AWESOME. Pros: Service, Ambiance, Parking, Great Value more

It was either really awesome or wtf 8/26/2008

I went with 2 others and 2 of us ordered some superb dishes whereas the other 1 was just outright overpriced and not so great. I had their seabass special which was truly superb. It was a really nice piece of fish served over some root vegetables and salad. The other great thing was the Purses.. oh boy.. these are AWESOME!! However, my friend order their scallop special.. the one that sounds so delicious when described but then comes out and it's 2 scallops on a plate with some random asparagus spears in the center - 38 dollars. NO JOKE. I would have to say I would've given this place 5 stars but that scallop dish was just ridiculous... 2 scallops!! just 2.. normal sized scallops.. 19 dollars each. Pros: service and options Cons: i dunno more

Best Service Ive EVER had!!!! 8/21/2007

I must say that I was AMAZED by the knowledge and warm, friendly service, of our server. I believe her name was Heather. Not only was she simply adorable, she truly praised the restaurant and her experience with working there. THe smell of fresh, roasting garlic fills the air, and the sound of young women singing Opera truly made the night specail for us. My wife and I truly enjoyed the food, atmosphere and above all the sevice Pros: BEST SERVICES EVER! Cons: nothing more

All around spectacular spot 7/25/2007

the food is always great. service is well above average. the portions are huge and the wine list is very strong. great pick for a quiet night for two or a party of 20 Pros: ambience and service Cons: havent found one yet more

Cool Food, Environmentally Sound 7/17/2007

Usually, when I eat out, I like to go to Sushi restaurants, often with my girlfriend. But after watching Michael Moore's newest film, ""Sicko,"" I was dying for some great italian food. So, I thought, why not try Sugo? At first I thought it was a bit strange, especially because you pronounce the S in the name like an ""sh"" sound, but I got over that real quick!!! I was seated promptly with my firend martin, and we ordered some food. I felt like I was in that movie ""The Godfather,"" or ""Goodfellas,"" ""The Godfather part 2,"" or ""The Godfather Part 3."" Sugo's slogan really says it best, ""when you're here, you're family,"" hence the mob movie references. If I were a first time customer at Sugos, I would definitely order the veal, and get a delicious dessert from Sugo's extensive dessert menu. I will definitely go back to Sugo's and give Sugo gift certificates to all my family members as christmas and birthday presents. Thanks Sugo!! Pros: Cool People and Great Times Cons: Bathrooms are too big more

Great Italian 7/17/2007

"Spanakopita and chicken al Sugo are some of the traditional dishes offered in this comfortable, casual Duluth restaurant."""

Owner Message
  • In 1947 Italian born Arcito Castellucci married Sophia Zavanlagos, a girl from Sparta, Greece. As you may have guessed, dinner was an event at the Castellucci household. Rather than decide between the cuisines, they decided to blend both cultures together, creating authentic dishes that represented the best of both worlds.

The oldest son, Frederic II, studied the art of these recipes and once he had perfected them, Sugo was created. Not only did Frederick II learn the secret to making mouthwatering dishes, but he learned the value of a dollar. And as you will see from our menu, he carried that over to his customers.

So allow our family to make your evening special with our authentic cuisine and gracious hospitality. We would love to have the opportunity to host you and your family and let you see what happens when an Italian marries a Greek.
