Worst

Food was okay, service was a little worse, and prices were too high....the staff didn't go out of their way for my family of 5. Not a good place for a special occasion.

The last two times I ate here, the service was beyond terrible. My wife and I waited for over 45min to be seated while other people were being seated ahead of us. When we complained, they gave us vouchers for free appetizers for the next time we came back. After I said I'm not sure if we will until I see how the rest of the evening went, the service became non-existent. The food came out cold and tasteless and as much as I like spending 2.5 hours of my Friday night at a restaurant, I dont like it costing me over $50 for 2. This place got what it deserved. I wonder if the one in Cary has suffered the same fate as I'm sure it will. Pros: they closed Cons: everything more

Raleigh Location 11/21/2008

The location in Raleigh is closed for a few months. There is NO Stonewood Grill anymore in Raleigh. You have to go out of state (probably). Does that explain why the place closed? Not sure. They couldn't compete with Taco Bell next door which is still thriving. more

Never disappointed 4/24/2008

Stonewood is one of the best restaurants around for the money. The steaks are amazing (no a la carte nonsense), the sides are amazing - I've had everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. Probably the best cheesecake I've had also. Do yourself a favor and try the smoked salmon appetizer. So sad the Raleigh location closed. Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere Cons: None (as far as I know they don't accept reservations) more

Be yourself: If you're an expert on burgers, let us know. If this is your first-time massage, say so. Compare apples to apples: Burger joints shouldn't be held to the same standards as four-star restaurants more

Atmosphere was beautiful and food was good 1/12/2008

The restaurant was really nice and the server was very nice and helpful. The shrimp were great and the scallops and risotto were ok. The bar was really cool and we had a great time. Pros: fun place for drinks Cons: price more

Consistent Excellence! 1/11/2008

If you're ever in a pinch and can't decide where to go, go to Stonewood. This has become our new staple. Sure there are lots of exciting new spots in town. But we consitsently get great food and service. Look no further than the seared Ahi tuna appetizer, double portion of course! Probably a better deal than the dinner portion, I think... :-) The house dirty martini is amazing. Stuffed blue cheese olives! Lots of other great dinner entrees with changing variety. Enjoy! New Management Changed Restaurant 12/20/2006

I have been going to Stonewood for years. The new management staff has changed the entire feel of the restaurant. The service has gone from average to spectacular, and the food is, in my opinion, 'The Best in Raleigh.' I Love this place. You should try the lobster, it is perfectly cooked, and a great value for what you get. Great job guys, and keep up the good work. Best Restaurant Experience Ever! 4/17/2006

My husband and I had the most amazing dining experience tonight. I must say I have never been welcomed so thoroughly or had such amazing service at any other dining establishment. I had called ahead for "call out seating" and our wait at the door was only 5 - 7 mins. The service was extraordinarily attentive and very friendly. There was no wait for our food ...once the first course was served (which was within 5-10 mins after ordering) the food just flowed as we finished each stage. I highly recommend the tuna... beautifully made and presented superbly. The Jambalaya was different than I had tasted previously but both my husband and I loved it. My compliments to the chef! For a special occaision dinner or a night out with a date or the girls this is my first suggestion. Pros: Great Food, Amazing Service, Friendly environment more

a great evening 3/3/2005

My family went there for the first time and we were given such great service. From the knowledgeable staff to the great food, we had a wonderful time. We brought our children, and upon walking in I thought it was a mistake, but I was wrong. The potions are wonderful and you get what you pay for..... great food, even better service. Oak Fire Grill, Need I say More? 4/14/2004

The service, the wine, the price--it all comes together at Stonewood, if you don't mind the wait--reservations recommended! Best Filet I've EVER had--that's traveling the US eating filets--Stonewood's is the best, melts in your mouth! Mushrooms are out of this world. I've never had a bad meal there, even the burgers are golden--this place blows Sullivan's and Angus Barn out of the water! Great atmosphere, fun crowd, and not one stiff in the room, unless you are talking about the drinks! Pros: price, food, atmosphere more

don't have reservations 9/12/2003

well we made reservations for a group of us and we made them 3 weeks prior , i called 3 day before to make sure they were there and everything was ok. we arrived 10 min before our time to find out we really didn't have them at all. the hostess was rude and they said we would have to wait for 30 to 45 min. needless to say we left and ate elsewhere. the worst part of it is we made the reservation was THE MANAGER! follow my advice this place sucks! "happy camper" 9/20/2002

My wife, son and I ate together recently, and had a very positive experience. All of the meals were ample in size, and excellent in quality. I had the Salmon, which was outstanding..perfectly cooked. My wife ate the Chicken Pot Pie which was huge, rich, and full of chicken. The waiter was diligent in continually checking for our needs. The atmosphere was cool, subdued lighting, with Jazz being played in the background. Perhaps the best Continental cuisine in this area. Stonewood Tavern and Grill is a welcomed atddition to North Raleigh.Wait staff very accomodating and knowledgable of special's and any question's how item's in menu prepared..Food great.If anybody ask's me for a recommendation for a restaurant they have not tried I immediately think of Stonewood Tavern and Grill. Great service, great food. 7/27/2002

I have been to Stonewood in Raleigh a few times and I have never had a bad experience. I agree with the crabcake presentation as noted by another reviewer, but the crabcakes themselves are fantastic. Also, I have gotten steaks their twice and they have been cooked perfectly. I would recommend Stonewood highly. Pros: good food, great atmosphere Cons: a little pricey more

Good place for drinks;Eat somewhere else 7/16/2002

Stonewood Grill is big on appearances; very nice design and layout. I like the privacy of booth seating. Our wait person was totally inept; she could not make a single recommendation from the menu and as it turned out, it might have been helpful. Could have easily been her first night as a wait person anywhere. The miniscule crab cakes were served with a few kernels of corn on a lettuce leaf and 4 soda crackers on a huge plate that they were all lost on; no beurre blanc, no sauce, very poor presentation. I cannot imagine a competent chef letting this plate leave the kitchen. The Ceaser salad was the weakest I've ever encountered. Not sure what type of dressing it had but it was not Ceaser.
