Stewart Hotel

I am writing this because I was listening to my radio (KXL750am) and there was a local news item about the Stewart Hotel. The news reader said it took the tenants of that hotel to complain to City Commissioner Randy Leonard in order for a temporary heating hook-up to be installed. I can also rate this 1 star (if there was lower rating I would use it) because I walk by that hotel every so often and anyone can see that it is a 'slum' hotel. more

My mother is currently residing in this establishment. All residents must share only 1 bathroom available to them, this includes toilets and shared shower stall. There are not toilets or showers in resident's rooms anywhere in this building. You will have to wait for hours and sometimes days to use the shower. They regularly have to spray and treat for lice and other insect infestations. They also lost their heat for over 10 days now in the dead of winter in freezing and snowy tempertures with no intention to fix the problem until this story was posted on the news, channels 2, 6 &8. I would not recommend this place for anyone to stay even for just one night. There are long time residents living there who are becoming ill because of the freezing conditions that they are forced to live in because most cannot afford to go anywhere else. This establishment is required by the state to fix the heating system or evacuate and close down by the end of December 2008.
