I will be back! 11/23/2010

i thoroughly enjoyed our two-hour pit stop at steam cafe. ours was a pretty simple table -- a cappuccino and an ice coffee -- so there wasn't a whole lot to mess up. but i have to give the place its props for the following reasons: first - we were up front about the fact that all we wanted was coffee, and they still let us take one of their (rather limited) patio tables. those tables were prime real estate today in dc, with the sun and warm temperatures. so i give them credit for letting our measly $7 order take up what could be a very lucrative table. second -- the staff is very friendly. all of them. i got the feeling it was a family-run place, but i might be wrong. when i told the waiter that we were going to be a cheap table he said "that's fine -- all we want is to make sure our customers are happy." score! third -- free wifi. fourth -- great location. dupont desperately needs more non-chain coffee shops and this one fits the bill very nicely. fifth -- the waiter was kinda cute! i'm a fan and will be back! more

5 Stars right here! 11/16/2010

Steam is a straight forward, unpretentious place with a very friendly staff. (I concur, the guy who is always behind the cash register is a nice guy) . I like the fact that it holds long hours -- very long hours. There are so few late night non-alcohol serving joints in Dupont, let alone DC in general, so any place that is open *past* midnite on a weekday gets MASSIVE points for me. Seriously. 5 stars right there! more

Very Nice Owner 11/9/2010

This Panini place is mine and my boyfriend's favorite cafe in Dupont Cirlce. My BF lives 3 minutes from here so it is always convenient to order takeout paninis. We love the mediteranian chicken panini with avocado and red peppers with home fries and a side salad. The owner is very nice and the staff is too. They recognize our voice and know what we want to order everytime we call. They serve breakfast all day, paninis, pastas, crepes and lots of cofees and tea options. This is a nice place to sit for some studying or wi-fi time... The coffee might be pricey, but it comes in a big cup, this is a cafe place so if you are looking for cheap coffee 7-eleven is right next door..:) more

Great Hole in the Wall 11/5/2010

I can't believe I've never reviewed this place before, as it was my trusty default study place. Can't think in my Dupont Circle apartment? Walk over to Steam. Need somewhere to study and eat late at night? Walk over to Steam. Other coffeeshops closed? Yeah you get the idea. more

IMPRESSED 11/3/2010

"The staff here is always uber friendly and eager to please. As well, a nice place to take the pup and have him sit next to you while you eat at one of their outside tables. The salient part of this review was the addition of the pizza ovens and new pizza parlor as a part of the restaurant that occupy one of the glass counters where they used to sell baked goods. I tried a slice and was impressed." more
