STATS and SERVICE go HAND and HAND 4/27/2008

So, I live here in Atlanta and service generally rots no matter where you go; Concentrics Restaurant Group seems to have their finger on what the people here in Atlanta want though. I have been to all but two of their restaurants and had both a decent meal and decent service... but boy was I impressed when I went to STATS their newest concept restaurant. I am a restaurant manager by trade so I am very particular about service, selection and overall atmosphere... here is the lowdown on STATS. When I walked in I was immediately greeted by.. I think Cassie was her name, a bubbly, and... cute hostess who sat my party at a long ""tap"" table in the bar area. When we were seated, almost immediately our server came to greet us; it was very busy so I expected to wait awhile but didnt have to! Jessica was our server, and service is what she gave us!!! We all ordered drinks, specialty drinks that she explained where ""STATS specials"" they were AWSOME, and delivered to us quickly. She asked us if we wanted to start with appetizers and if we had any questions... we had a ton because the menu is a little challenging. Jessica answered all of our questions as if she developed the menu herself... I was amazed as to how well she knew her product. She suggested all of our entrees and appetizers all were dead on! She attended to us as if we were the only people in the building, but she had other customers and was hustling around to make sure everyone was taken care of! I have never been so impressed with a server; her manners and attitude made us feel like we were right at home! I even tried to persuade her to come and work for me, but the way she worked made it apparent she was devoted to STATS... I still hope she calls though! Anyways, the food at STATS is good, the atmosphere is great for a sports fan, but the SERVICE we recieved set it apart from all others!!! WOW is all I can say.... that girl needs a raise! Pros: SERVICE!!! Cons: Menu and concept need some work more

please improve so you don't go out of business 3/15/2008

I live near by so I want this area and places like Stats to be successful. So hopefully they will read this and listen.\r \r Great food and menu\r Poor service - need to fire your bartenders; there is no reason why one should wait 10 minutes at an empty bar to get a drink\r Pricing is out of line with the area. There is no reason to charge $10 for woodford reserve 11 for a hamburger, etc. \r \r Change a little bit - and I will visit a lot more and spend more often.\r \r \r \r \r Pros: food Cons: price and service more

Poor Service... 2/26/2008

So, this past Saturday night, some friends and I went to Stats to watch the Tenn/Memphis game. When we arrived, we were told that the wait would be 20 minutes, not bad considering there were 9 of us. Our table became available and we were seated. Spacing was cramped due to all the people standing around, this made it hard to see any of the numerous flat screens in the venue (not really Stat's fault, but a turn-off nonetheless). Maybe we were asking for it, attending a new-ish, trendy place on a Saturday night during a big game.... Anyway, we asked our server if there was anywhere else we could possibly be seated that was a little roomier, she suggested we go upstairs to a private room. We agreed and followed her to our new seats. After sitting for 10 minutes, we began to look around for the server who would be taking care of us. A few minutes later he pops up, apologizes for the delay and asks if we're ready to order drinks. We all order something and away he goes.. About 7 minutes later, (still drinkless) the Host approaches us to ask if we were closing out our tab because he has a reservation for our table. HUH?! We tell him we hadn't even been served yet and he informs us again that he has a reservation and needs us to move. He elaborates further by saying that he thought we were just having a round of drinks and leaving, very untrue and even if that WAS the case we still HADN'T BEEN SERVED. We explain that we were moved there by our server from our original table, and the Host offers to put us back on the wait list. WHAT!? 5 minutes later, our server comes back, drops the check and asks us to pay quickly WHILE the Host is passing out beers. SERIOUSLY?! Since no manager ever made it to the table to talk to us, we went looking for one. When we finally spoke to someone, they told us that the reservation had been cancelled and we could stay. No apology, no discount, nothing. I AM a restaurant manager and that is unacceptable. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!! Pros: Good Idea Cons: Bad execution and service more

Wow! Didn?t know how bad service could get. 2/21/2008

I?m so NOT a demanding customer at all but when a bar is not busy and you can?t get drinks standing at the bar, something?s wrong. Then when the staff seems so angry and rude you got to wonder, how long can they stay in business? \r \r If you want to see a really cool bar but deal with the worst service and really bad attitudes then you?ve found your place. more

Great Fondue and sliders! 2/6/2008

I LOVE STATS! The atmosphere is fun and casual yet classy, and with so many TVs, everyone can watch what they want. And this place has great food, too - much better than traditional sports bar food. The fondue is delicious - sausage, apples, croutons and veggies dipped is creamy melted cheese - amazing! The sliders are some of my favorite in town and fun to eat. Be sure to check out the Red Card cocktail next time you're there. It's a great start to a great night! more

Stats S*cks! 1/31/2008

The headline says it all. This place is supposed to be a sports bar but it lacks things that make a sports bar great, like good bar food. They don't serve chicken fingers! How can they call themselves a sports bar and not sell chicken fingers?! I know they are trying to be upscale but the least they could do is come up with some sort of b/s chicken finger fusion dish to charge too much for, right? They really don't have a lot of food on the menu in general and apparently getting a description of the food from our waiter was too much to ask. They have a dish called brocollini thats a cross between brocolli & asparagus (soo not bar food) which my friend and I had never heard of. Our waiter got snappy when I asked him to describe it and therefore he barely got a tip. He was also lackadaisical in taking our drink order and coming back to take our food order. The food we ordered, biscuits and tortilla soup, was not at all good or worth the price. When my friend went to the restroom there was a r0ach next to the toilet. If there are r0achs in the bathroom there are r0achs in the kitchen. This place just opened so they really shouldn't have r0achs at all. If I could give this place no stars at all I would. Definitley not worth the money, all style and no substance. Pros: I know not to go back Cons: food, waiters, r0achs, price more

Wack Horrible Bad Overpriced Lame 1/30/2008

Working at CNN, I was curious to check out Stats. A fancy sports bar...odd combo...had to be perfect execution to pull it off and well, they are from perfect..let alone anywhere near decent. No chicken fingers? What kind of sports bar is that? Lack of food and variety of food - all of which is over priced. Don't try the biscuits or the tortilla soup...went to the bathroom downstairs...behind the toilet, what did I see? A DEAD LA CUCARACHA! And then the waiter started off nice but got upset when we asked if we could order (seeing that we had waited 10 mins after our drinks arrived). He was snappy explaining some weird food item on the menu they have thats a cross between broccoli and asparagus?!? WTF? He couldn't even explain what it was and got an attitude for us askimg. Where's Chef Ramsey and the show Kitchen Nightmares? Save your money, I promise you. Pros: That I'll never go there again Cons: Bland food, rude waiters, dead c*ckroach, lame atmosphere, etc etc etc more

Nice building and decor, but concept needs a lot of work. 1/28/2008

I live just a couple of blocks down Marietta Street, so I was excited to see a sports bar opening within walking distance. As a sports fan I was optimistic, but ultimately disappointed in Stats. To me it seems they are trying to be an upscale restaurant with a sports theme. If that is the case, the the food should at least be good. Everything I have had is mediocre at best. Your typical bar foods like wings and burgers are some of the worst items on the menu, not to mention overpriced.\r \r If Stats is a mediocre restaurant, its an even worse sports bar. This is the first ""sports bar"" that I have ever been to that won't let you wear baseball caps. I still can't figure that one out. What ticked me off the most is some of their employees were wearing basball caps, in particular the audio/video guy and some of the kitchen staff. Frankly I'm insulted that as a customer I am told to abide by a dress code that the employees don't even follow.\r \r As for the tables with personal beer taps... The one time my friends and I tried it, the taps didn't work well at all. The whole table tap concept is nothing more than a gimmick as it is now. We ended up paying more for pouring our own beer than if we had ordered it by the glass. Why should you have to pay more to pour your own beer? The concept is great, but they need to actually get the system to work well and maybe lower the price per ounce a little.\r \r Although I've been disappointed in Stats the few times I have been there, I am willing to give it another chance in the hope that they get their act together. They first need to figure out if they are going to be an upscale restaurant or a sports bar. If they choose to stick with the upscale route they need to improve the quality of their food. If they want to tailor more to the sports fan crwod they need to lighten up a little, especially with the dress code and prices. Stats has temendous potential, and I hope they eventually reach it. I'll be giving it another shot soon. Pros: Cool historic building and decor. Great location. Great potential. Cons: Idenity crisis, overpriced, subpar food. more

Not A Score Here, Yet! Creative Bar Menu! 1/19/2008

As much as we wanted to like Burt's Place here in the seventies(CNN Center was called The Omni back then), we wanted to like Stat's, as much as we liked Burt Reynold's.. Atlanta has changed much in the last thirty years, and sports bars have been elevated to all most upscale dining, think Dantanna's @ Lenox. Bob Amick and Master Chef James Cornwell. have now officially put their stamp on the upscale Atlanta sports/dining bar. We went recently before a Hawk's game, but where is everyone? Nicely designed, creative menu, and those oh so cool table taps, were entertaing, between all the HD's! Our very attractive server was quite eager. She knew the menu, both backward's and forward. We started with a new take on the Classic Baked Onion Soup with Dumplings. And it did warm our souls, on this cold rainey night. My date ordered the Blackened Fish Tacos, too bland for me. I had the Braised Beef Short Rib Potpie. Just excellent. But everything just didn't come together. I guess when we go to a Sports Bar here in the ATL, it's usually rocking, with the food to match. Not a score yet. Given sometime, Stat's just might become a winning team. Recommended if you are in the area. Pros: Before or After The Game! Creative Bar Menu! Cons: Where Is Everyone? more

Great before the game 1/15/2008

Went there for lunch before a Hawks game. Our server was very attentive and nice. Food was good and reasonable for Atlanta prices. Great atmosphere and feel. Lots to look at and see. Still seems like it is trying to figure out it's niche of clients. Will reutrn to STATS! Pros: Atmosphere Cons: Parking more

I really wish I liked this place 1/15/2008

I first dined at Stats before it even opened. I attended a preview of the menu where they offered their cuisine at no charge in return for guest reviews. I was very dissapointed. I would have much preferred paying for food that tastes good. The atmosphere and design of the restaurant is great, but the food is, unfortunately, a huge let down. Out of the ten items that I have sampled, the best item was only ok. I would have to describe everything else as utterly displeasing to the tounge. The food is inventive, but it just doesn't taste good. I took a friend to Stats to show him something new, and they held the line just to create a buz....the place wasn't close to being full....so we left and had a great time watching the game at Lucky Lounge up the street. We tried again two weeks later and the food was horrible once again. I think they should taste what they are serving. Pros: Atmosphere, theme, clientele Cons: Food more

Worst Food and Service I've ever had 1/11/2008

This could be the most overpriced and overrated restaurant I've ever been to in my 40 years of living. The food at BW3 is much better and a significantly better value. I can't believe anyone would wait in line to get in this place. If I were you, save yourself the $100 bill and wasted time and go to a real sports bar. Cons: All more

Cool concept, but lack of execution 1/7/2008

Went to Stats twice in last two weeks, and both times we were not allowed to sit at the premium tables with beer taps. They have a rule that your party must be of at least 6 to use the tables with taps. This is despite the fact that in both my experiences these tables sat unoccupied for the entirety of our time there, including during both NFL Playoff Games. If they are not full for this and not allowing customers to get the best experience possible, they will never last in Atlanta where ""one day your in, and the next day your out."" \r Food is so-so at best, and overpriced. \r Great concept, but their execution needs improvement. more

expensive bar food, nice decor, crowd still being determined 12/28/2007

Being owned by Concentrics it's a little on the pricey side for bar food and drinks. The place is new and decor is really cool for an upscale sports bar/restaurant. I expected nicer menu options as the restaurant appears to be catering to an $$$ clientele but was disappointed. They are open late which is a plus. Parking can be a little tricky but shouldn't be a problem if you park on one of the side streets. The people that come here are a big mix. It almost seems a little touristy. There was a mish-mash of customers and I assume this is due to the fact that they just opened and their regular clientele has yet to be determined. Pros: building, late hours Cons: value, parking more

Great atmosphere for lunch and group fun! 12/27/2007

I have been to many of the top sports bars in the city. Stats has a very crisp clean but fun and exciting atmosphere whether you are there with a group watching a game or there for lunch one on one. The atmosphere, staff and multiple flat screens will keep me and my crew returning to a private room upstairs many times over! more

not that great 12/27/2007

i really didn't like stats as a ""sports bar."" The food was too fancy for a sports bar but not fancy enough for a nice restaurant. They don't let guys wear baseball caps. Our service was terrible (and another party in our same section had the same problem and actually left before their food came). also, the sound was really bad on the game we were trying to watch. there was only one game that night, so there shouldn't have been any competition. but i think there was music playing in other parts of the bar. the acoustics were just bad. i'll try it again, but i think stats needs to do some rejiggering. Pros: good location near the arena Cons: bad acoustics for serious game-watchers more
