Movies 8 6/3/2011

Since Movies 8 has been taken back over by the previous Management everything is improving once again. The cleanliness of the theater and bathrooms have dramatically improved and the entrace area is up to par. The recently acquired staff are professional and have friendly faces when you walk in the door. As an avid movie lover I am glad to see Movies 8 in great hands again. more

New ownership has cleaned place up 5/24/2011

This theater had gone down hill in the past year or so. A new owner has come in and really cleaned the place up, Prices were dropped and its a great place to go again. more

Can't beat the price 5/30/2006

You simply can't beat the price to see a movie. If you can wait a few months to see a movie it is definitely worth the wait. more

Big Screen, small admission. 5/23/2006

As it's the discount theatre in town, their biggest selling point is the utter affordability of the tickets. The offering is not fantastic from a cinephile perspective, but that's where the critic's instincts come into play. For those eager to see the newest releases ... go elsewhere. But for those looking for entertainment, and perhaps artistic representations of life and humanity - Movies 8 has plenty to offer. more

Watch movie here!!!! 4/8/2006

This is a dollar theater. The most you will ever pay for a movie ticket is $1.50. They also have 50 cents Tuesday all day. The movie that they play may not be the most current usually a month or two old, but that also mean their movies are not from the 60’s. If you can wait a month to watch a movie, which sometimes you forget to go anyway, you can play $1.50 rather then paying $10 to $20. I know this may not be the most high-end theater, but if you are going to rent a movie why not just go to a theater. The ticket actually cost less than renting a movie! They have regular theater seat with cup holder not stadium seat. The place is fairly clean. The concession stand prices are slightly less than a high-end theater. They also have a small arcade. One word of warning, they are very strict with the R-rated movie age requirement. Everyone in a group watching a R-rated movie must be present at the time when you buy the ticket or no ticket. I see a lot of people whine about this, and you know what I would say. Get over it people you are paying less than 2 bucks to see a movie. The theater doesn’t want to lose its license to show movies. more

cheap movies, big screen 3/17/2006

Movies 8 is a discount, second-run theatre. They'll never have the new movies, but they will get them before they enter the rental market. What this means to you is a big savings for those movies that you're not sure you want to see, but would like to see on a theatre screen. They recently changed management/owners, which usually means little.....but in this case it actually means that they've finally changed the seats (which were starting to smell like a kitty litter box). They've also made changes to management and hired a more energetic and friendly staff. But really....at no more than $2 (weekends) and as low as $.50 all day Tuesdays....who is really complaining about anything? more

the best for any college student! 8/26/2005

If you are cheap, broke, and have no money to take your date to something... well then look no further because Movies 8 is the place to be! You absolutely cannot beat the wonderful price of $1 on any day and $.50 on a tuesday. It doesn't get any cheaper than that my friends. Movies 8 just changed up their seats so, they're completely brand new and comfortable to for that matter! The movie lineup aren't as recent as some of the other movie theatres although they are still up to par. One con about this theatre is the concession stands. Wow the prices for popcorn and drinks are incredibly steep! I say for you college students to bring your own food and eat it there. more

Older movies, but tons of fun! 8/21/2005

Admission to movies that start before 6pm is just $1.00. Movies after 6pm are $1.50, and all movies on Tuesday are only $0.50! The movies are older, but not really really old. They seem to be about a month or two after they are shown in mainstream theatres, but not old enough to have been released onto DVD yet. The theatres, lobby, snack bar, restrooms, and arcade are nicely kept and very clean. The movie screens in some of the theatres (there are 8 screens) are a bit small, but the show quality is the same as any other theatre. The snack bar also has some great bargains, like a hotdog for $1 and a medium drink for $5. The medium drink also comes in a cup that you can get refilled for FREE each time you come back to the theatre to watch a movie. The popcorn, nacho and cany prices are also equal to or less than what you would pay in other theatres. The arcade is also great! It has a fullsize air hockey table, 3 pinball machines, and several other games all in good conidition. more

Great for those not looking to spend a fortune on movies 8/13/2005

Movies 8 is by far not the nicest theatre in Tallahassee, but it is a bargain for college students. Movies are $2 per person (I believe) but are either .50 or $1.00 on Tuesdays. The theatre's aren't the most well kept, but considering the prices, I've seen alot worse. Most of the movies are a month or 2 behind the release dates of major movie theatres. more
