Our favorite affordable steakhouse! Great place to drink, dine and watch a game. We usually sit in the bar because we like privacy. There are some good booths in the restaurant...

***BIG WARNING MUST READ**** 9/14/2009

For more than a year now, Stanfords has been under new ownership, along with at least another of their resteraunts, Billy Heartbeats. The new owners have a unique approach which must have required the cooperation of the original owners -- namely, keep the menu and the prices virtually the same, and use very cheap ingredients for everything, and completely rip off the public. This is NOT The quality Stanford's you used to know. I warned you - Stanfords is now a complete rippof (literally, they are TRYING to rip you off) - no joke!!! Pros: NONE (read) Cons: NEW OWNERSHIP (RIPOFF ARTISTS) more

Meh. 2/21/2009

My cousin had a 2-for-1 entree certificate for Stanford's. We originally went to the one in Lake Oswego, but the wait there was an hour and a half, so we decided to call the Lloyd Center one to see what the wait was there. We were told 30 minutes and when we got there, it actually ended up only being 10-15 minutes. Host staff was polite. Waiter was pretty good; always kept my glass full. My one complaint about the service was that our salads came literally 3 minutes before our food. By the time I was finished my salad, my pasta was lukewarm. Gross. Having worked in a restaurant before, timing is really not that difficult (especially when you are not that busy and our server was not that busy). You wait until the salads come out before you put the entree order in. Also when I overhear you telling the table next to me that you have worked at Stanford's for 3 years, there really is no excuse. The food itself was alright. My caesar salad was ordinaryt; except it had tons of cheese (shaved parmesan, but the pieces were the size of kraft singles...) and only two, yes TWO croutons. Really? A $6.50 salad with two croutons?!? Cost-cutting? Ridiculous. For my entree, I got the prawn fettucini. There were a lot of prawns in there, which is always nice because some places are really stingy with seafood. The sauce was pretty good and it also had tomatoes and asparagus. However, it was lukewarm and very oily at the bottom, which was disgusting. Even with the 2-for-1, the bill was expensive, but that is probably my own fault. If I ever went back to Stanford's, I would not get a salad because they are definitely not worth it. But I don't plan on going back. The bottom line: pricey and nothing special. Pros: Polite staff, short wait on a Saturday night, parking, portions were a good size (not too big, not too small) Cons: Overpriced for the quality, oily and lukewarm food, timing of service, ambience (mostly because of the other people eating there) more

Nice atmosphere, average experience 4/7/2008

This was my first time eating at this Stanford's and I wasn't all that impressed. We had frequented the one in Seattle, WA (mostly for happy hour) and had been fairly happy with it. more

Excellent steaks! 8/20/2006

Our favorite affordable steakhouse! Great place to drink, dine and watch a game. We usually sit in the bar because we like privacy. There are some good booths in the restaurant area, too. The service is always good and the steaks are to die for. The garlic mashed potatoes are creamy and delicious. The salads good and the seasonal side vegetables are never overcooked. We love this place...if only I could eat filet mignon every night! The seafood is also worth cheking out. If you have any room left get one of their desserts. With mixed drinks it must be about a million calories but who cares? Pros: Good service, dark and private booths, ambiance. Cons: No view. Lots of parking but spot may be far away. more

Still Dream of Stanfords 12/13/2005

We lived in Portland for 9 years and frequented Stanfords on a weekly basis. Now six years later, we still dream of the food, ambience and service that was provided by this wonderful restaurant. The Lentil Soup was outstanding, as was the steak, salads and breads. We wish there was a Stanfords here in Atlanta, Georgia. more

Fine Dining at the Mall - Lloyd Center Stanford's 7/19/2005

Tonight we ventured out for ""traditional American"" and we found it at Stanford's. A real top notch steakhouse right at the Lloyd Center. I have to say I have very rarely had a better steak and I look for them where ever I go. Everything was notably good; from the Caesar dinner salad to the perfectly steamed green beans. My partner in crime had the pork tenderloin, crispy out, juicy in, and the apple crisp desert was excellent. The decaf was good. The staff was personable, attentive and unobtrusive. They even bussed the tables discreetly. A thoroughly enjoyable dining experience, one of our best yet in Portland. If you haven't tried it get on down there. Parking is plentiful but could be a walk depending on the number of shoppers out on the night you go down. It's worth it, and the prices were VERY reasonable. Pros: Excellent Service, Great Food, Extensive Bar Choices Cons: parking more
