St Jude Retreat House

Well, unlike a few here, Saint Jude’s was my first option and I am glad it was. I learned a lot while at the program, gained friendships, and valuable lessons. Above all, and most importantly, I left as an empowered person. The stay was very comfortable and we did quite a bit of things while there. We socialized in the evenings, went to movies, went hiking, whitewater rafting, which was awesome!!!! I left the week before everyone went to NYC for a weekend tour, and although I really wanted to see the new World Trade Center, I’m sure I’ll get there sometime. I attended Saint Jude Retreats last year and I can positively say it has not only changed my life, but also that it has helped me change the way I make decisions in my life. I’ve been to a few programs before and I actually seemed as though I felt worse about myself when I left those programs. Saint Jude’s approach is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced and I just wish everyone had the opportunity to experience it. Since I’ve left Saint Jude’s I have gone back to college and will graduate next year with my degree in Criminal Justice, something I had pretty much gave up on before. My little girl is happy to have her “daddy” back and I can’t thank Saint Jude’s enough because now I’ll be watch her grow up and not waste my life away in a blur. Forever grateful, James more

After sepnding my life savings on 3 other treatment centers my mom found Saint Jude’s. I attended back on the summer of 2013, today is my anniversary. I am not only sober, by definition, but happy and what they call at Saint Jude’s EMPOWERED. I read some of the reviews in here and they truly make me laugh! I don’t know if these People ever attended their program. I guess everyones experience is different. Mine was life saving. Ryan more

Previous to attending the Saint Jude Retreat I failed many times; went to rehab, tried it on my own, therapy, etc... I needed something different and they offered exactly that. They did not promise me anything, in fact tehy were pretty straight forward over the phone, I was told "It was up to me" and I did it. I went to the Mountain house, and while it wasn't the Tag Mahal, I was treated right, and my stay was in fact very comfortable. I am not one to leave reviews but after reading some of the comments in here I have to make a personal comment. By the sounds of it, these other comments are made by people who did not attend the place and are very missinformed. I made friends with a 24 old kid who was asked to leave due to consuming some illegal substances. He was not kicked out, he broke the rules, but so you know they treated him very well, and was promised to be able to come back and finish the program if he showed commitment. He did in fact 6 weeks later, we still keep in touch. Anyway, I dont want this to sound all about others but would like to say thank you to the Saint Jude Retreat staff. My wife ended up at St Jude Retreat House due to an inability to control alcohol intake. There are pending legal issues as well as medical issues, acute pancreatitis. I also have struggled with addiction in the past and have attended several programs to correct this life issue. I do agree with the approach that St Jude puts out there and wish that they were capable of delivering. I am a successful and proud father of 4 and have learned to do what works for me and stay away from what does not. I was so hoping that my wife would pick up this skill set. She did graduate from the program, however, this is the only positive thing that would come from the experience. I did a lot of research before presenting my wife with this facility. The staff eased my fears regarding house rules and the structure provided. My wife and I had been together for almost 10 years and had no trust issues prior to her attending this retreat. We are now in the middle of a messy divorce. It turns out that a inappropriate relationship started while she was there with another man. The supervision and division of males and females is not enforced. Also, she was able to spend over $1800.00 at outlet stores and drain my bank account. She skipped the seminars she did not want to attend and laid out by the lake with no repercussions. Pictures were being sent back and forth from her phone at 2:00am of her and other male house guests. Lights out is 11:00pm? The staff showed no concern when this was brought to their attention. She now has no physical contact with 3 of 4 of our children, and the drinking has not stopped, I am not convinced that it ever did. This is a spa where people are paid to tell the afflicted person what they want to hear and justify their behavior. My soon to be ex-wife still has no accountability for her actions. Also, there is no family healing done at this facility. There are only 2 seminars daily. The rest of the time spent is relaxation and shopping. This place is not an effective option for those who really want to heal. more

The house is third rate but the prices are sky high. The place doesn't meet minimum standards to get insurance reimbursement, it refers people to detox centers in Arizona and Texas, its surveys of its success rate are a joke, and the program itself turns out to be noting more than the Power of Positive Thinking or The Little Train That Could. Save your time and money by going someplace else -- anyplace else. more

St. Jude sales people will promise anything and say anything to get their commissions. The company then finds any excuse (even a rumor) to throw people out and keep all their money. I attended the St Jude Retreats back in 2008. Today is my sober anniversary and wanted to proclaim to the world that I have never been happier. The road has been filled with challenges, but I always kept the lessons taught to me at Saint Jude's with me... I am in control of my own destiny and no one but me can choose who will I become, who I will be remembered by. Today I choose to be Happy!!! more
