Fast, cheap, good thai food. May be a chain, but at least you know what you're getting.

The service here was ok, but the food is lacking. I don't think I would even call it Thai food. Good prices...

Great food 8/9/2007

This place has great thai food...Very attentive wait staff and very fast and efficient. I give my overall experience at this place 5 stars! more

Excellent Thai Food. 1/24/2007

Go there often and have checked out other Thai Restaurants. It has never taken me more than 15 minutes to get a table for two and the food always comes out promptly. Service is attentive and with a smile. The only -is the crowded seating arrangement. Definitely recommend your checking Spice out. more

with all the racket about this place 6/21/2006

Spice ought to kick it up a notch! i can find better thai somewhere else. takes about an hour or more to get seated. way too busy and crowded. don't know if the dim candlelight hypnotizes people to go eat there, but don't follow the light. more

Good Thai food 4/1/2006

Spice is a good place to come if you want good Thai food but don't want to break your wallet. I usually come with a friend for their great lunch specials. The place has a very modern look and is not decorated in Asian decor like most Thai restaurants. It is also well-lit, unlike other Thai restaurants. If you come, you have to try the Drunk Man's noodles, and the Chicken Pad Thai. Their chicken satay is also pretty good. more

Not Good for Large Groups 3/30/2006

Spice is not good to go to for large groups. I went to Spice with about 12-15 people. We were seated in the basement where the chairs are like couches and the tables were up to our knees. It was not very comfortable eating. Service was slow. Food was average, but a bit pricey. Upstairs looked a lot nicer, with better seating and a candlelit atmosphere, but the food is too expensive and isn’t good enough to make me want to go back with a smaller group. more

sugar and SPICE and everything nice 3/30/2006

I try to have lunch or dinner at Spice every one or two weeks. I can't live without my Spice fix! But let's get one thing straight first. Both Spice, the Thai restaurant, and Cafe Spice, the Indian restaurant, are within inches of each other on University Place. Now we're talking about Spice, the Thai restaurant here. Nice decor, amazing food (especially the Pad Thai!), and the bill won't burn a hole in your pocket luckily. Go around lunch time for the lunch special - about $6-7 bucks for an appetizer, an entree, and a drink. Definitely worth it! The only downside is that everyone else seems to love the place too, and it can definitely get a little on the crowded side and you may have to wait up to half an hour (not typical, but it has happened) for a seat. more

It's okay 9/27/2005

The food is fine here. There is always a crazy long wait for a table, though. I find myself going here only when having dinner with my friends who are broke and can't afford to go anywhere else. That's what's nice about this place, you feel like you are out for a nice dinner, and then when the bill comes it really isn't that damaging. more

Spice... Not So Nice 8/21/2005

While I will agree that Spice has a little quaint, soothing ambiance, the service there is less than desirable. At a recent visit, I had the rudest server EVER! Don’t get mad at me because you don’t like your job. A chat with the manager revealed that the “issue will be looked into.” Whatever! more

An Asian restaurant with style and substance... 8/21/2005

I really like Spice except for one little thing, the name. Before this restaurant opened there was already a restaurant down the block named Cafe Spice and everytime I ask someone to meet me at Spice who hasn't been there before I have to explain the two places with almost the same name. OK, never mind. Spice looks like they got a talented designer fresh out of school with lots of energy to work on their project. The interior is food for the eyes while you wait for the edible food to be served. The prices are low per item but everything is so good that it is easy to get carried away and order enough to make the check more than you expected. They cater and they deliver too. more

More Bang for your Buck 8/18/2005

Spice Restaurant (at University & E.10th Street) Is a great place to meet friends, clients, etc. The menu provides quite consistent Thai fare at a great price (sub $10 lunches are the norm) Their Pad Thai, while predictable is always good. The appetizers are also quite varied and well executed (shrimp fritters in spicy sauce are to die for!) Overextended staff are typically courteous, if not super responsive. Huge NYU/Parsons crowd makes for a good canvas of Village hustle and bustle to those not familiar to the area. more

Cheap good Thai food. 8/18/2005

Spice servers up Thai cusine that lives up to the resturant's name. The dishes are well prepared and are delicious, however you should ask exactly how spicy a particular dish is before ordering or be prepared to absorb large quantities of water. The spicy calamari are a great appetizer. Stay away from Drunk Man's noodles if you can't tolerate hot food. The place is not large so be prepared to wait in line on a busy night. Spice offers it's visitors a funky modern decor, more common to the fancy Thai establishments, at a very affordable price. The biggest pro about this place, after the food, is the amount you spend on the bill. You can easily have an appetizer, entree, and a drink for under $20. Since the place gets very loud its a great choice for groups looking to dine on budget and also enjoy their meal. Sea in Williamsburg and Peep in the city are under the same management as Spice and offer similar food. more
