I bought a new furnace and air conditioner a year ago in April 2015. Two free service calls were included in the cost of the system. In the past year I called a couple of time asking when service was needed as I was getting prompts from my digital thermostat well before the service to replace the air filter in the furnace. Turns out air filters should be replaced every four months. I was told by Specialty not to worry about the prompts and that the air temperature had to be high enough to test the air conditioner so I needed to wait a full year until April 2016. So I had the service this week on the furnace and the AC. At the conclusion of the service on the furnace and air conditioner (about 1.5 hours) I was told that Specialty had done both prepaid services at once (furnace and AC) so I now had no future prepaid service. Specialty also sent out the wrong sized filter which made no sense as they sold me the furnace a year ago and should have had all the specifications. They also told me the air filter was not part of the service and I had to pay an additional $30 for the new filter. The right filter then had to be delivered and installed. After the service the technician Scott told me I needed a "surge protecter" for the air conditioner compressor for over $200 in case of a power outage or I risked damage to the $3000 compresse. He also said I needed to prepay for future service appointments (more than $300) or my equipment warranty would/could be voided. I have been in this house for 38 years and have never needed a surge protecter for my AC compressor so that was obviously bogus. And since my system is a year old and I just had it serviced I doubt I my system warranty would be voided if I did not prepay for a maintenance that is not due for six months to a year. I have generally liked Speciality and had a good sales and installation experience. What I have found is that after the sale there is often a hard sell on the customer for unneeded services. When I had Climate Control it was a $730 air filter that needed to be installed into my return air ducts which was totally bogus. I fired Climate Control after this bogus hard sale sales pitch. So I was not happy with the bogus hard sell after my service. I declined both the surge protecter and the prepay on future maintenance. I had just fully paid off my expensive furnace and air conditioner this month so was not amused over the effort to try and extract $30 out of me for a air filter that should be part of any furnace maintenance or an extra $500 for a surge protecter and a prepaid maintenance that is not yet due. Great service, poor respect for our white carpet 4/22/2017

During a maintenance visit, a crack was found in our heat exchanger. Specialty was out the next day to replace the furnace. The work was professionally done. My only complaint is that, although they put booties over their shoes to walk on the carpet, they then wore the booties out into the dirty garage and then returned to the thermostat and left the white carpet with dirt marks that had to be cleaned. more

Specialty has serviced our furnace several times and we hired them to install AC last year. Some of our less than full satisfaction may be caused by the furnace, which was in house when we bought it, and was not installed by Specialty. The main blower motor failed after they did the first routine service check up last fall, and ended up costing more than they originally projected ($1240). Thought we would be good for an extended time, but in second routine service call, we asked for evaluation of water leak by furnace and found out that there is likely additional expense repair "deep" in the furnace and that we might want to replace the furnace (apparently 11 years old). Would have liked to know this before doing the blower motor repair, and am quite discouraged that the furnace will have such a short life! The actual second service visit was a little problematic. The initial technicians did not seem sure how to test the AC (purpose of visit), had to replace the one year old thermostat (probably failed during the testing), and visit took much longer than expected. Technicians were, however, very pleasant and considerate. more

Thank you for taking care of my thermastat problem on the same day I called, thats real service. What bothers me is that the thermastat failed after only a little over 3 years, and that worries me. Also, I didn't quite understand the diagnostic charge as it definately was the thermastat and I am still under warranty. Thank you. more

Efficient and Effective Heat Pump Repair 3/14/2017

We used Specialty to resolve a heat pump problem. The service tech, Kurt Wood was excellent. he immediatly isolated the problem (failed compressor), secured the part and replaced the compressor within 2 working days. He explained his logic in isolating the problem very clearly and was incredibly efficient in replacing the compressor and checking out the revised system (i.e. 1/2 the alloted time specified for this type of repair) saving us almost $300. The part cost was already under the Specialty 10 year warranty. This is a quality organization that attracts outstanding people. more

I can't honestly say everything was as smooth as one would have hoped but what truly matters is how well does your service provider stand behind their work when do not go as planned. I especially want to thank Robb ( one of their senior service technicians) for not giving up until he had found and resolved all the problems. It took some time and several returns but he stayed on it until we were "both" happy with the results. The company is truly focused on their customers and that came across with every member of the service and sales team that assisted us. more
