if I have paid $160 for a massage, I would expect to have some fluffy towels. My old towels at home were softer and larger than the ones here, which were starchy and a little fray...

Absolutely on of the better spas in SD. I've been to many because my bf gets me a massage every year for valentine's day. This was one of my more memorable experiences. It's a little costly though. more

I love this little spa located in Downtown/Little Italy. I have received a few massages here and have always had exceptional experiences. They put the ahh in spa. I highly recommend, Buck and Marcy-both exceptional massage therapist. Lupe-has given me one of the best facial experiences I have ever had. I love the boutique feel in the front lobby. I enjoy their old world ambiance. I thoroughly enjoyed their Swiss showers. This place is 5 stars and beyond. (I recommend coming in the evening so you don't have to worry about your meter expiring while in service-they don't have a parking lot) more

Not the hype! 8/16/2010

if I have paid $160 for a massage, I would expect to have some fluffy towels. My old towels at home were softer and larger than the ones here, which were starchy and a little frayed. I would suggest to them to update their products in the bathroom. My yoga studio has nicer products in the bathroom. Also, I'm not a fan of the spa layout or its location in downtown. It is small; if there were 2 people in the "old world relaxation lounge" (which is really just 2 large chairs), it would be crowded. more

I have visited this spa on several occasions. It's a great place to relax after work. The ambiance is calming, quiet and very relaxing. I also enjoyed the pomegranate mimosa that was offered to me. It was a nice added bonus to sip on while I relaxed on the comfy couch listening to the fountains in the relaxation room. After a short wait I wasn't quite ready to get up and start my treatment!! I found the staff to be professional, polite and overall very welcoming. I have told my friends and co-workers about this spa and their multiple services, one of my favorites is the eye brow waxing! more

I fell in love with this spa. The atmosphere was relaxing and very soothing. Everyone was very sweet and accommodating. I had the sea salt exfoliating scrub and a massage. Both were very nice. I would recommend this place to anyone. more

Wonderful (but a bit pricey) 12/19/2009

The amenities, services, staff - everything about Spa Velia is wonderful. W/ every service comes oppty to sit in the meditation room & use the steam room. I've had facials, massages, a geranium body wrap (incredible!) & brow waxes and always been very happy. I also like that their staff informs you about what products they are using & what products they would recommend for you but the staff don't pressure you to buy. Only drawback is the prices for massages and facials are about $20-$45 more than other local places. more

Not your typical spa experience 5/6/2009

I regulary go for facials (one a month) and after receiving a gift card to Spa Velia I thought I would try it out. The facilities were nice although a little tight and contained for me. I love spa's that have the open air about them and while it was somewhat relaxing, Spa Velia was a little too crammed for my style. more

I was experiencing a few problems with my skin. The cohabitation of pimples and wrinkles was extremely frustrating. The estheticians at Spa Velia were very professional and gave me sound advice and guidance. After just two facials my skin is showing great progress. No more breakouts and my laugh lines are less pronounced. Pros: Ambience, superior service, attentive professional Cons: services are expensive more

Amazing santuary! 5/2/2008

I was in SD for business and had a massage and facial at Spa Velia. The experience was heaven. My technician was professional and anticipated my needs before I could ask. The spa itself is a haven for the busy professional. You really feel like you've walked away from your troubles and into a safe, warm, and most comortable place. Can't wait to go back! I was so excited when my I got a Spa Velia gift card for Christmas. I Absolutely Loved my Epicuren Facial. My skin is so soft and smooth. I would highly recommend Spa Velia their staff is very knowledgeable and the spa is gorgeous. Thank you Spa Velia I loved my Christmas present, what a Treat!!! more

Fabulous Facials for Sensitive Skin! 1/1/2008

I received the Epicurin Facial (with micro) at Spa Velia. With my very sensitive, acne treated skin I am always a little hesitant for anyone to touch my face. Best Epicuren Facial 1/1/2008

If you are familiar with Epicuren facials- Spa Velia has the best. You can book a shorter one if you are in a time crunch or go for an 80 minute that includes dermabrasion. They carry the complete Epi facial line for retail too. I am addicted :) Pros: The Staff and the Products Cons: I live in LA more

One of the best Spa's in the Country 9/25/2007

Spa Velia is one of the best spa's in the country. I've experienced many spa facilities and I have to say that Spa Velia holds that ""intimate"" and ""attention to detail"" feeling which makes you feel extremely relaxed! Their grounds are very clean and the therapists really take their time to make your treatment one that you will enjoy thoroughly. I've visited Spa Velia four times in the last year and a half and I was so pleased with my experiences that I had written a special letter to Dana Stalling, who is one of the owners, thanking her. I've reccommended this place to friends and family. I hope you will find it just as wonderful as I did. Pros: Intimate Cons: There's only one location more

My Spa Experience! 5/16/2007

I visited Spa Velia on a recent vacation to San Diego. It was definitely a highlight of my trip! From the moment I walked in the door I felt welcomed and at ease. Everyone was extremely attentive to my every need. I can honestly say that the deep tissue massage that I received was the best massage of my life! I left feeling a sense of renewed spirit. I recommend Spa Velia to anyone requiring a moment a peace more
