Worst

I was a bit disappointed in Spa Sydell's Cumberland Mall location. The Spa definitely needs updating. Proper pedicure chairs not a Dr. Scholl's footbath. On a more positive note,...

If it were not for Elizabeth... 11/11/2009

I don't know what's wrong with these chicks - they are the worst. None of them know what customer service is. I won gift certificates from my job and used them at that location for bikini waxes ONLY because one of their aestheticians, Elizabeth makes sure I never get razor bumps. I have walked in there, greeted them with a smile and cheerful 'hello', to see if they'd respond with the same...HA!!! Didn't happen! They barely looked up at me. They treat you as if you're bothering them and interrupting their chatter. They suck...I'm not going back. Pros: The best bikini waxer - Elizabeth. Cons: Those stinking attitudes at the front desk! more

Horrible Horrible Service and Workers 10/15/2009

I came here once and not only was the manager, Erica, so incredibly rude but I also later learned that the girls at the front desk held back on the tip that I left for the girl who did my facial!!! I would never go back to cumberland and would opt for the peachtree rd. loaction any day of the week. Pros: location? Cons: Rude staff and front desk employess who steal tips. more

Great Day at the Spa! 7/15/2009

I was in town from Dallas for the weekend and went to Spa Sydell at Cumberland Mall for a facial and massage. Jackie did the massage and it was great. I can’t handle very deep tissue massages, and I explained that to her. She listened and gave me a relaxing massage, one of the best I have had in a ling while. After my massage, I saw Gail, who gave me a facial. It was very soothing. She was knowledgeable and professional. I definitely recommend this spa! When I’m in town again I plan to go back. Pros: The staff was professional and friendly Cons: My massage and facial were only 30 min, I wish I did longer. more

Wonderful experience for a Spa Day! 7/5/2009

Working in the service industry, I am always looking for ways to show my clients we appreciate their business. I called the Spa Sydell at Cumberland to try and schedule something for my customers and spoke with Susie Erath. I told her what I wanted to happen to ensure my clients were taken care of. She handled everything and had excellent communication with me throughout the entire planning process. We were all greeted with soothing music, a relaxing aroma in the air, crisp white robes, & taken to our rooms for relaxing massages. When the massages were complete, I was happy to hear everyone was very pleased (& bragging) about how great theirs was. Also, after the massage, Susie had coordinated a really nice lunch for us with Spatinis. My clients loved it! Pros: They took care of everything for me! Cons: None more

The Oldest One 5/11/2009

the massage is great but this location is the oldest and most people are going to want a new spa. Very close to 75 and the staff is nice Pros: close to 75 Cons: The oldest Spa Sydell more

Not honoring gift certificates is a ripoff! 9/11/2008

I had $250 in gift certificates collected for Spa Sydell over the past few years. When I called to book finally, I was told their policy had changed and they WOULD NOT HONOR the certificates. This makes no sense. It's like Clark Howard says: if people have paid cash for a gift certificate, it should be treated same as cash! Otherwise, why give one? It would be better to be given the money to spend! I can think of no reason to change the policy except that it is a blatant attempt to steal people's cash--I can think of no other business service this achieves, and it makes people like me furious! By the way, In the past, when received several gift certificates over time from Spa Sydell, I've been able to redeem them, just paying the difference in service costs if there had been any increases from the time the gift certificate was purchased until the time I redeemed it. I've never been informed of a policy change, at any rate. I'm sorry but this event--coupled with what is generally very poor customer service and a definite "herd mentality" when you visit, as you're listlessly guided from spot to spot, is just too much to take. Pros: Lots of locations Cons: Poor service and refuse to honor gift certificates! more

Doesn't even deserve one star 5/10/2008

Do not waste your money - worst customer service I have ever experienced. Tried to redeem a gift certificate to book an appointment and was told that I couldn't use it for special packages and I would have to pay extra to use the gift certificate!! Then I was hung up on by the "supervisor" Lucille twice! If you're thinking of a gift for someone don't get this unless you want to cause the recipient alot of anger and stress. Plus there is no one you can even give a complaint to - you have to write a letter! What a joke. Pros: nothing Cons: everything - worst customer service policies ever, staff is rude and hangs up on you more

Avoid Spa Sydell Like the Plague!!! 4/9/2008

I was looking forward to FINALLY using 3 old spa gift certificates that I had received as gifts for my upcoming 30th birthday, but was informed that I could not redeem them because they are over 2 years old. That's over $400 of my friends' and families' hard earned money that they flat out STOLE. I am a VERY busy person and unfortunately haven't had time to take off a whole day to spend at the spa until now. I looked forward to a nice relaxing day at the spa for my 30th, but now I have to inform my friends and family that all their generosity went to waste. Money is money... these gift certificates should not expire. I realize prices may have changed, but I was more than willing to pay the difference. I will certainly be telling all of my friends and family to never buy me another gift certificate from this corrupt company again, and I warn everyone to avoid this unprofessional business like the plague! They aren't even that great of a spa to begin with. Pros: None Cons: They steal people's hard earned money more

Pierre is the BEST! 4/3/2008

I went to Spa Sydell at Cumberland Mall and received the most rejuvenating massage. Being a frequent visitor to various spas, I have to say Pierre at Spa Sydell did an exceptional job. He was attentive to the areas of concern without neglecting my legs and arms. I am making another appointment this weekend! Pros: Great Massage. Cons: Location. more

good service 3/10/2008

Ive been to this location several times and the service is always great! Most recently I got a facial and my skin glowed for days! I like that it is located in the mall. Pros: quick service Cons: high prices more

Get Sabrina, she is the best 2/23/2008

I have been to spa sydell at cumberland several times, and I love it!!! Sabrina does my facials and she is awesome. She really knows great skin care techniques. I was using some products before and they were giving me breakouts really bad. That was several months ago and my skin is as clear and smooth as a newborns. I am telling you if you want a great facial, massage or to be pampered this is the place. Pros: It's in the mall so you can go shopping afterwards Cons: Sometimes the front staff are not very attentive more

Best Facial & Waxing ! 10/6/2007

I tried different types of waxing and facials with Gala ? I highly recommend her. Soft touch, very thorough, professional, gentle, painless, and great results each time. I am very cautious about what is being done to my face because my skin is very sensitive, and with her I found everything I needed. BTW I love this combination ? it saves me time and gives a great look ?right away?. more

1 hr massage a complete sham! 8/19/2007

They say it's a 1 hr massage, but it's not even 40 minutes! I had a 5:15 appointment today, by the time my masseuse arrived it was 5:20, she left me to my room and returned only by 5:30. The massage lasted until 6:10. I wasn't the only one. I met another lady in the ladies room who had the same complaint. Spa Sydell charges $85 for 1 hr massage...which isn't cheap. The least you can expect is for them to honor their time. Most of us just let it go rather than arguing with the masseuse on the time spent. It just goes to show that they lack the right business eithics! Would not recoomend! more

Facials are blah, massages not so hot 3/18/2007

Facials are blah, massages are mediocre. Staff seems to interested in selling their products and it's clear they get a spiff for each product they sell. I've been to several Spa Sydell locations (in-laws keep getting me gift certificates) and it's the same all over. The last massage I had, I told the masseuse out of the gate that I wanted to relax and not chat. He chatted the entire time about the oil he was using and some bath salts, which, no surprise, were waiting for me at the front desk when I checked out even though I said I didn't want to buy them. He was so intent on discussing products and I was so peeved that he didn't shut up that I left feeling angry instead of relaxed. Facial didn't impress me at all. Basically it was just a long face washing routine that I could have done at home. Facilities are nice, everything is clean, but not worth the money. Pros: Facilities are nice Cons: Salesy staff, mediocre services more

Best Masseuse I have ever had! 2/27/2007

First of all, I want to say that I am very busy and have never taken the time to write a review on anything before. However, I had such a special experience, I really want to share it with everyone. I would also like to make it clear that I have had literally hundreds of massages from Mexico to Hawaii to Spain to almost anywhere you can think of. I went to Spa Sydell at Cumberland Mall with a Gift Certificate from my husband. I walked in and immediately was thrown off from construction and just a dirty look about it. I was not expecting the visit to be a good one at this point. Then a Masseuse named Michael Blakely came around and picked me up with a big smile and very friendly demeanor. I felt at ease with him right away. I had some neck and shoulder problems that I have had for years that I told him about. Many have worked on me but none have ever given me any long term relief and that includes Chiropractors. He chatted with me for a few minutes after the massage began and really had me think about what my routine is during the day. He questioned me on many aspects of my life and finally told me that he suspected that when I am on the phone in the office that I cocked my head to one side to hold the phone as I multitask on my computer. He nailed me! he was absolutely right! I have done that for years and no one else I went to has ever tried to make me think about what actions I could be doing that could be causing my pain. They always just treated the symptoms and relieved me temporarily. I have never met anyone that so obviously loves his job more than this man. I truly felt that he really cared about my pain and really wanted to help me. The massage was extremely thorough with many moves I had not had before including several stretches. He even got my email address and checked on me a few days later. I have stopped cocking my head to one side on the phone and now have a headpiece. My pain is gone on a consistant basis now and I owe it all to Michael! Pros: Michael the Masseuse Cons: Construction more

I received a fantastic massage from this therapist name Rickey, Hey he have good lookin loc's. I will definitely be going back. If you like great a massage, he's your Man. more

Best Massage Therapist Around 8/2/2006

Will at Spa Sydell Cumberland Mall location is THE BEST massage therapist around. I've been to spas all over the world and still rate him as the best. I may regret posting this b/c maybe then I won't be able to book an appointment :) Pros: They are in the process of renovating the entire mall and the SPA Cons: right now it is not renovated and needs some fixing up but will be complete by end of 2006 more

I Agree...Best Brazilian Wax Ever!!! 4/17/2006

I have to second what the other lady says about Leslye. I had never had a Brazilian before Leslye and if I have my way I will never have anyone else do it. Despite the fact that I have no one to compare her to, I don't think anyone will ever be as good as her. She is immaculate, thorough, and will work with any skin type to suit your needs in any way, form, or fashion. Thanks, Leslye! Pros: Great Parking, Great Staff, Last Minute Appts. Cons: Semi-Pushy Front Desk more

Don't Know What To Say! 3/14/2006

I was a bit disappointed in Spa Sydell's Cumberland Mall location. The Spa definitely needs updating. Proper pedicure chairs not a Dr. Scholl's footbath. On a more positive note, my nail tech, Mayi, was very attentive. Cons: Over-priced more

Overpriced for what you get 2/26/2006

I just went to the Cumberland Mall location for a massage, manicure, and pedicure. I hope that they have plans for renovating the spa as they're redoing the mall! My massage room has spackle on the wall, they used make-shift tables, the pillows were lumpy, paint chipped, carpet frayed. There wasn't any ambiance besides one small candle. For my pedicure, I sat in an awkward chair, and put my feet into a foot bath (propped on a stool) - they whole thing was very average. I've received MUCH better pedicures for a fraction of the price. And for the manicure, there was one mini-fan that all the tables had to share - and that was the drying process. The whole thing was very low-rent. I have been to a number of different spas, and my spa experience here was average at best, but not worth the money. Pros: friendly staff Cons: poor facilities, outdated more
