Editorial review from Citysearch 12/29/2012

This is the best veterinay hospital I've ever used. I have been going to Southwest Animal Hospital for 4 years and Dr. Perron and Dr. Williams are kind and compassionate. I've had pets for over 20 years and lived in a number of cities, thus gone to a number of clinics. They have always figured out exactly whats wrong, their pricing is way more reasonable than most vets, and the receptionists and technicians have been great. It's obviously they really care about my animals. I have a dog that another vet recommended I put to sleep. I brought him to Southwest and almost 2 years later he's still alive. Until recently, his quality of life was good. I know I'm going to have to put him to sleep soon and this is where I'll go. They were so nice when I had to do this with one of my cats a few years ago. I would highly recommend. more

Peter Perron DVM, warning, do not bring pets here 4/24/2009

Do not trust you beloved furbabies to this incompetent, nasty veterinarian. Peter Perron, DVM, and owner of Southwest Animal Hospital needs to return to veterinary college, AND, take a course in customer courtesy. I brought my 8 year old cat to see this questionable doctor with symptoms of sneezing and throwing up. Dr. Perron, who was outright and intentionally rude to me on more than one occasion, decided to charge me hundreds of dollars to pull 5 of my cat's teeth which did nothing. This was the end of his 5 minute diagnosis. It turned out that my cat had cancer and internal tumors and had to be put to sleep as a result of major mis-diagnosis by this incompetent. Save yourself money, time, and total heartache by not ever going to this clinic, and definitely not seeing Peter Perron. Cons: see below more

Highly Recommend this facility and Dr. Williams and his staff. 3/8/2009

We have been taking our dog to Southwest Animal Hospital for the past 5 yrs. We have never had a problem with staff or Vets. Dr. Williams is our Dog's vet and he is the best. We and our dog just love him and have the highest respect for him and his care. He is willing to take the time to talk to us as well as our dog. He doesn't just shuffle you in and out of the office. He truly cares and will answer all questions and will give you all the information you need. We live close to this facility but if we moved we would not hesitate to drive as far as we had to just to see Dr. Williams. We also have never had a problem with the staff they have always been pleasant and helpful. I hightly recommend this facility and Dr. Williams. Pros: Dr. Williams more

Don't take your loved ones here! 12/23/2008

Terrible service and experience! I had been taking my cat to this place for four years with no problems. We moved from Las Vegas in June 2004 and I took her in for necessary vacinnations and grooming before the move. The groomer shaved her - without my approval - though she says different! After that, the staff did the exam and tests which involved needles, etc. Needless to say, it didn't go well and they tried to blame it on my cat calling her '""viscious.""! She was there all day and I had to call multiple times to find out her status. I was told she was ready and ended up waiting an additional 45 minutes plus to see the doctor and pick up my bald cat! I was told she needed some type of slip to cross state borders - no one told me until after the fact that the exam for this was an additional charge and really not necessary. I left the vets office in tears. The best thing I can say is that neither me or my cat ever has to go back there! Pros: They are in Las Vegas and I'm not! Cons: Rude and unknowledgeable staff more

I highly recommend . . . . . 4/1/2008

I have been visiting Southwest Animal Hospital for the last 17 years. Several years ago, Dr. Collins helped me through the care and loss of my dear Golden Retriever, Chris. He treated Chris with the best possible care and greatest empathy and I couldn't have asked for a better experience (although heartbreaking) for Chris' journey into puppy heaven . I will be forever grateful to Dr. Collins and his personal commitment. Dr. Williams is my vet now for my Yellow Lab, Buddy. Buddy is getting on in years now and it's a pleasure for both Buddy and me to visit with Dr. Williams. Buddy loves Dr. Williams. He spends whatever time is necessary to care for his furry patient and his patient's mom. I don't look forward to the inevitable but I know Dr. Williams will do his best to make it as painless as possible for both Buddy and me. I highly recommend Southwest Animal Hospital and Dr. Williams. more

best animal hospital 11/20/2007

I have been taking my cats there since we moved here in 1995. Both were fixed here. My female had problems afterwards and they were very concerned and helped us out free of charge on occasion. I recently took in a stray with major abscesses on her backside and they were all so nice to her. We thought that she had a nasty side to her but they all said she was the sweetest thing. We have had her now for three weeks and she still has a little mean streak but her sweet side is the best! If you go in ask for Dr. Williams. He is the the best!!!! Very nice man. Refers to the pets as kids and the ""cone"" as a hat. The only thing I can say bad is that after my pets surgery they should have told me to put vaseline on the drains to keep them from sticking. I went in to have them removed, after a week of tending to them, and then the tech told me that they were not ready and to put vaseline on them. Overall an excellent place! I used to live five minutes from there and recently moved to the other side of town. I still drive the extra 15 miles to take them to Dr. Williams. He is truly the BEST!!! My cats are 15 and 13 and act like they are 3 and 5 ( they stray is 2 or 3) I will never take them anywhere else! Pros: Dr. Williams more

Kind Vet, Good Service 7/11/2006

I have been taking my dogs and cats there for 14 years. Over the years they have shared our joys and sorrows. I have had to put to sleep a dog & cat there. Both times the staff were caring, compassionate, and let me grieve with my animals for as long as it took. I got cards in the mail after each loss from them, expressing there sorrow for me. \r I have gotten crappy treatment a few times from tech's , but tech's come and go with the rest. The vet I have worked with there talks to my pets as if they were kids, and I know he loves them. I think it is a good balance of treament, versus letting go when it is time. Not letting your animal suffer. Some vets insist on charging up a storm trying to treat something that is going to ultimately win in the end. This vet office isnt the prettiest, but it is clean and sanitary. I recommend it to the person who isnt going to spend $$$$$ in surgeries, medications, and realize, I may love this dog with all my heart, but it is a pet. They don't make you feel guilty, after all, ""all dogs go to heaven"" Pros: Kind Service Cons: 70's Decor more

Great experience 4/25/2006

I take my dog here once a weel for a chemical dip. The staff is always friendly, and very helpful. They take the time to answer all of my dumb questions. They are so gentle with my puppy too. Pros: friendly, clean Cons: needs more products more

Poor service and facilities 3/7/2006

We took our dog here because he was sneezing. His temperature was taken incorrectly by one of the technicians. Therefore, the doctor incorrectly diagnosed our dog with allergies. In addition, the fecal sample we turned in was not tested for the problem our dog had. We were instructed to bring in another one and told we had to pay again. The next day we took him to a different vet where they found he had a temperature and needed antibiotics. We feel we got improper care from the vet, and the office manager made no attempt to accomadate us. We reccomend going to a vet where the doctor, instead of the technicians, examines the dog. Pros: Nice Doctor, Convenient Location Cons: Poor technician, Rude Office Staff, Improperly billed more
