one of the best around!! we have a fully functioning garage in use on a smaller street in south philly which , in the past 8 years or so, gets a higher volume of traffic and parking. when people park in front of our clearly visible garage, blocking us in, we use south philly towing. have a huge sign that says ""do not park here, you will be towed"" more

I honestly think the bad reviews are written by competitor towing companies. I have had nothing but good experiences using South Philly Towing. The drivers are pleasant, rates are fair (if not lower than other local places), and I have even had to call them in the middle of the night. My car was far from new. It would stall all the time. South Philly Towing really helped me out on more than one occasion. I have recommended them to friends and have never heard a complaint from them either. more

They towed my car when I parked in front of my friends' garage. My friend wasn't there at the time but I put my friend on the phone to tell the tow guy it's ok for me to be there. He said once he got the car on his truck there's nothing he can do. I have to pay the fee right away or pay double at his office. The business looks shady. I think they're desperate for money and will tow anybody's car with any chance they get. more

I recently parked on a street where aprox. 150 cars were parked. There were no signs posted and I was parked legally. After leaving a Phillys game at 12:00 am with my eight year old son I found my car to be missing. After walking around for about 15 minutes I saw an old sign about halfway down the block that was blocked by a dissabled van. I called and they told me my car was towed. They said they were closed to call back tomorrow and hung up the phone. I live about 2 hours away and called my wife to pick me up. It was about 3am when my wife came and got back home around 5. The next morning I called and was told the fee was $210.00(cash only). I dont know how the city allows such a piece of crap company to do business on their behalf. Beware, this company preys on innocent drivers obeying the laws. Cons: EVERYTHING more

Last night these crooks towed vehicles from 95 & south galloway street. The owners were Eagles fans who had already paid $95 per ticket to go to a pre-season Eagles game! We were not parked illegally, but were told to call the police if we had a problem with the situation ( we caught them in the act )! People were willing to walk farther to avoid $20 parking. No businesses were blocked or interfered with in any way! Cons: Arrogant, intimidating, immature and criminal! more

Being someone who frequents the City of Philadelphia quite often, I must say that everyone has to understand that there is no such thing as free parking in Center City. This is not the game of Monopoly wher you get some prize by landing on that square. Instead, your car is rightfully towed and sent back to the tow yard for pick up. Let me be clear. This is yours and only your fault. Don't park where you are not allowed. If you car is towed, it is because you did something wrong, not the other way around. Besides helping fellow business owners out by ridding the lots of illegally parked cars, the also offer a variety of other different services. It was raining went I met this company by accident. I slid into a guard rail and blew out my front right tire. South Philly Towing pulled over and changed my front tire and also inspect the car to make sure it was safe to drive. My experience was great and if I have ever have any towing needs in the future, this will be the first company I call. Pros: people, prices, always willing to go above and beyond Cons: none that I know of more

I recently got my car towed after an accident by southphilly towing, and i cannot think of one thing bad to say about these guys! They were perfect gentelman and did everything i asked them to! I can not beleive these as*hole out of towners think so badly about this company! Maybe you should follow the rules and read the signs, there only doing there job! And they can have there business in whatever part of philadelphia they want, do you think that they are suposed to relocate to a nicer more expensive lot just to please yoUu! Just think , you got a tour of the beautiful side of philadelphia that you wouldnt get to see without them! So instead of writing lies and nasty reviews you should thank them, if it wasnt them it would have been the city towing your car eighter way, it was YOUR FAULT, maybe next time you wont be so careless! I wanted to take my family to the Italian Market today just to get out and get to know Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love. Before we arrived I checked out parking lots for this tourist area and decided to park on Christian Street. We parked in the wrong lot. The lot we needed was 1/2 block up and boy did we pay the price. We're ok with getting towed and paying a fine...even if it was a ticket it would have been acceptable. We were out for about an hour and came back to no auto. We called the number, the guy was rude. We told them we had two very young children with us and needed some assistance to get to his location. He offered none. We went back to a local business and called for a cab. The employee said that they have had so many complaints from out of state (tourists) people like us getting towed who had parked in that very same lot. After we got a cab, the driver found out where we wanted to go he said that if he had known he wouldn't have taken the job because that area is very high in crime. So with our two young children we drove to South Philly and we were so afraid I didn't even want to get out of the vehicle. To make it even more exciting, our van wasn't even there. No professional building, no professional employee to take your information and to help us. Ok..we made a mistake, don't make it worse by sending us into the worse neighborhood in Philadelphia. Once our van arrived we paid the $150.00 and drove off. The sad thing is that the family waiting before us really got ripped off, yes...they were tourists too. They had been towed just before us and their vehicle ended up behind the fence. Because of this, they were charged a storage rate of 25.00 plus tax. They paid a total $178.00 and didn't question it because they just wanted to get out of there. This is crazy Philadelphia! Do you want tourists or not? Cons: EVERYTHING more

I have written and spoke to several Inquirer writers and they said that they have had hundreds of complaints about this towing company and all of the private ones in the city. They towed my car in the morning, when I came home from work and immediately went to the yard and it was closed! (5pm) so I had to go and get it at 9am and they originally towed me at 10:30am, didn't they charge me for two days when it wasn't barely one 24 hour period. Even if they charge by business day--its a total M operation. Also the metal signs hanging all around the city and the one on the street where I parked, said $125 towing and x amount for storage--I was charged $200 towing and when I asked the fat slob told me that they are working on getting the signs updated. They are so fat and lazy its taking a long time. The men are big fat slobs and as rough around the edges as you can imagine. (the bums they deal with) I was newly engaged and I had my new ring on and I was scared to death in that neighborhood--keep in mind I took a cab there and then it was closed so I was walking around (surely there are no cabs around that neighborhood) I wrote to the paper and spoke to several people including the editor. I would be happy to share those emails with anyone. I think its a total crime for good people, not breaking the law to be towed--you should be towed if you are clearly in the way or totally illegal. This company is the lowest bunch of crooks i have ever met. They prey on tourists visiting the italian market in south philly. They hide in parking lots that are not marked cleary about parking restrictions. Five minutes after leaving my new cadillac in a mostly empty lot a tow truck appeared and took my car to a distant impound yard. $178.75 was the fee to get my car back. The person on the phone (number on small sign in lot) was a rude miserable bum, who refused to even repeat the address I had to go to retrieve my car. They only take cash, which leads me to believe this is a major raquet. A store owner near the lo. t told us they do this all day, (hide in lot, then tow your car as soona s leave it ) The philadelphia tourist bureau should know about these scumbags, and so should the I.R.S., because I'm sure they don't report all the cash they scam out of poor tourists. What a racket! Whatever you do don't use this company. Unethical, hard to find, unreasonable. Lot is cluttered on a narrow street tucked into a small pocket of the city. I had to call the police department for assistance. Pros: Absolutely nothing Cons: Everything - Like Oprah says - you just get a bad feeling more

if you need the services of a towing company and you want your car in one piece, dont use these guys, their expensive and destructive. Cons: they lie about damaging your vehicle, even the police dept have had problems with these guys. more
