I love Southpaw! My husband and I both have had work done and the place is outstanding. Low was awesome, in that, he made sure I received the tattoo I wanted and made sure I was comfortable for my 4 hour session. Brennan made sure I was comfortable and gave me soda the whole time and Jr. was also very attentive and kept me laughing. Brian did some work for my hubby and really nailed the Houston Texans coloring that my hubby wanted. I recommend South Paw Tattooing to anyone and everyone. The shop is clean, the artists are professional and personable. I will not go to any other tattoo shop in San Antonio if I want the best work done!! YOU GUYS ROCK!!!! more

I know why they have been in business for over 20 years. This tattoo studio is professional and very friendly. All the artists here do amazing work. I have even witnessed clients come in to have work corrected that other shops have done. Veronica ""Lunchbox"", has created two custom tattoos for me. One of these, was a portrait. My cousin that lives in Corpus Christi was very happy with her tattoo and plans to get another during her next visit. This is the best studio to get a piercing or tattoo. Trust you will be happy with the masterpiece you get. more

My Experience With Matt Was Amazing! 9/26/2011

I went in with a very open mind. I knew what I wanted, and AS SOON as I walked through the door, I was greeted. I have been there before, and all the artists are talented, but when I got a piece done in the crease of my elbow, Matt made it very painless, and very fun! I strongly encourage any, and everybody to go there. he did a beautiful job on my artwork and has made me very happy. I will only go to him from now on! Thank you so much Matt! more

Wonderful Work Again! 9/4/2011

I have been having work done by Southpaw for at least 8 years. Tim did an entire backpiece that he designed after I told him what I wanted. He is now retired but I have wonderful art from him. \r I buried my brother on the 23rd of Aug. and my other breother 18 yrs ago. I went in with my idea sketches to have two memorial tats done. Matt did a fantastic job of translating my inept drawing to a work of art. I could not be more pleased. \r I'm reading complaints here of overcharge and such...umm..guess what folks Good tats aren't cheap, and cheap tats are rarely good. more

Great Artists 8/11/2011

I have to disagree with some of these comments, i also went to southpaw for my first tattoo and JR did it. that day i left home happy, i was very satisfied i thought he did a great job and im still happy with my decision on going to southpaw and having JR do my tattoo. he used all kinds of bright colors and it pieced together just perfectly. i do agree they overcharge a little there, but JR does great work. more

bad ink 4/5/2011

southpaw on pat booker is where I got my first tattoo and JR is a nice enough guy but the tattoo ink looks like its all bunch up. also when light shine on it you can see the scaring like it's too deep. he went over the same area a couple times and no ink came out so it scarred me up. Also his sidekick is so jelouse of any woman cause he thinks he is protecting his mother, that he sits there with an attitude the whole time. . I won't go back and I hate my tattoo. It's a pretty large one too so I'm very unhappy more

you werent complaining when u were sitting in his chair getting tattooed, or when u were calling and texting him to work on ur tat..... I think u were just wanting alittle more than a tattoo, sorry he dont leave home without me... and as for him being a shi##y artist, I have to disagree with that and I think there are plenty of people who would disagree wit it also. he is one of the most talented people i know he puts his heart and soul into each piece he does. so if u want a kicka## tattoo, come see J.R you will be satisfied when u leave!! more

JR is a horrible tattoo artist 2/12/2011

Jr is a shit$y artist, he messed up my half sleeve BAD! Do not use JR, if he hasnt screwed your tat up your lucky get out now, he steals customers, he lies and he talk sh$t if you dont tip, he over charges and does NOT do good work. I learned the hard way. I now use Dayton ( thank god) I finally went with my gut and fired JR. If you must use southpaw get tattooed by MATT, JR is the worst artist I've seen in this town. Dont make the same mistake I did. more

Great place to get inked 5/30/2010

If you're gonna get a tat, go to Southpaw. I had one done there, and I don't have anything but good to say about them. I recommend Lunchbox. She's cool, has great ideas, fantastic talent, with the experience to back it up. She has a steady hand, and lays down some beautiful detail. There's was never a dull moment when we were there. Crazy ass conversation. Don't go if you're lame. Grownups only. If Jersey's there, it's lively. He has great ink ideas too. Do what you gotta do.. Pros: Great talent, great conversation Cons: Not a thing more

Best Tattoo 8/3/2009

Over the weekend we attempted to get a tattoo at another shop...they didn't seem to want our business...so we traveled down the street and found Southpaw. We were greeted at the door and had someone's attention the entire time we were present. So 4 of us decided to get tatts. The place was very clean. The artists were very knowledgeable, patient and just did awesome tattoos. We will get our next tattoos here as well. Pros: Awesome Artwork more

Great Artists.... Best Customer Service in Town 5/22/2008

I have had my first and only tat done there.... I got my tat back in 11 sept 2002. I remember that day fairly well because the artists that were there made me feel like family and catered to my every need. By that, I mean they kept me calm and plenty of times told me to relax and breath. Yes I as one of the hard people but after the initial pain, it was all but a barrel of laughs.... At that time, there was bones, and sherrie.... She is the one that did my tat and did a great job... Looking forward to getting my touch up there and my 2nd tat...... They are awesome pair of artists who bring it home with personality and down home great customer service that all places have lost....\r Ihave to admit I have had several people offering to redo my tat but when I show up at their parlor it is not the same. southpaw has spoiled me.... They left a lasting impression on me.... Pros: Awesome customer service and Artists Cons: I can not think of any as of this time more

Southpaw is one of the cleanest tattoo studios I have ever been in. I have had 2 tats done there. One in 2002 and recently and have never had problems. Everyone there is awesome. Cat is great too. Everyone is friendly and I have told eveyone that asks where I got my work done ""South paw, that's where you need to go."" You should go again they are great people. Pros: Lots of designs and freindly atmosphere Cons: stay pretty busy more

Josh is by far the most hilarious guy i have ever met...I love going there just to run into him. He engages with the customers and really listens to what we have to say. Though he is handicapped, he doesnt expect sympathy and he would rather have you leave with a smile if not a tattoo. While he is new to this business, he is a determined guy and I know he will and can go very far. Great job Josh and I look forward to seeing you again :) Pros: *smiling* Cons: none so far more

JR is great artist 11/4/2007

JR is the best, instead of rushing me into my tat he told me to go home look at some more fonts and think about it. Once if decided I came back and he did an awesome job. This was the 2nd tat I received from hijm and I am very pleased. Whomever wrote the place as dirty is a fu***** idiot. They are very clean, open the needles in front of you and make sure you are comfortable. My wife is handicapped and John was very helpful and made my life as comfortavble as possible. As I prepare to move back to Ft Hood I will continue to get work here despite the drive and the higher prices of tats in the San Antonio area. If JR does your work you will not need to come back for a touch up and I have had my first one for months and it has not faded one bit. Cool People Plus Quality Work 10/17/2007

I dunno what other people saw around there but when I went yesterday to ask questions they were very in depth in their answers. Also JR took his time and was very patient with me when I needed a break or what not. Also I had to take my one year old and they were great with him also. I was very pleased with the service I received at S.P. And definatly plan on going back there for any future work I need done. Pros: Friendly Cons: Can't think of any right now. more
